Douglas Loren Halcomb, 33, of Cold Spring, Ky., passed away October 3, 2003 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edge-wood, Ky. He was born on August 12, 1970 in Harrison County, Ky. He was the son of Richard and Faye Bumgardner Halcomb, Sr. He graduated from Pendleton High School and was a senior at Northern Kentucky University. He married Teresa King Halcomb on December 16, 1995, and his dear wife survives his passing. he was a Telecom-munications Officer at the Cincinnati Airport. He was the Northern Kentucky Director of the Special Olympics and a Volunteer Fireman and E.M.T. with Central Campbell Fire Department in Highland Heights. He earned the designation of Eagle Scout in 1989.
In addition to his wife, Teresa Halcomb, and his parents, Richard, Sr., and Faye Halcomb of Falmouth, he leaves three brothers, Richard, Michael and Damien Halcomb, all of Falmouth; one niece, Reagan Elizabeth Mullikin; one nephew, Zachary Allen Halcomb; one step-nephew, Aaron Owens; four step-nieces, Kia, Kaylee, Krystal and Jessica Owen.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 7 at 1 p.m. at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Greg Guttridge officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Richard Halcomb, Jr., Michael Halcomb, Damien Halcomb, Anthony Halcomb, Phillip Fugate and Jeff Fugate. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Halcomb, Sr., Jamie Klaber, David Steele, Bob Pettit, Mark Hart, Marty Hart, Vic Lavender, Todd Kenner, Clayton Williams, Adam Fuller, Kerry Curry, Charles Melville and Dan Woodhead. Interment with firefighter honors will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to one of the following charities: Kentucky Special Olympics, Pendleton County Shop With A Cop; or Melvin Hart Falmouth Christmas Fund Toy Drive.


Angie Smith, 27, of Bath County, formerly of Harrison County, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003 at the St.Claire Medical Center in Morehead, Ky.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry.

Charles F. Doll, Sr., 89, of Falmouth, passed away Monday, September 29, 2003 at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas, Ky. He was born in Batavia, Ohio on December 3, 1913, son of the late William Frederick and Mary Robig Doll. He was preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Mabel Doll on March 6, 1973.
Mr. Doll was a retired maitre d’ with 52 years of service in restaurant business. He was first employed with Thompson Business in Cincinnati, Ohio, next in Chicago, Illinois. Then for 15 years he was maitre d’ at the Beverly Hills Supper Club back in the 1950’s when it was a glitzy, Vegas-style Mecca for high rollers and visited by celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Bedecked with flashy cufflinks and ring and watch, he was very popular with many patrons who always requested that he serve them. He also worked for 15 years at Pigall’s Restaurant in Cincin-nati, and after several years at the Queen City Club in Cincinnati, Ohio, he retired.
He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corps and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church and Hardin-Browning Post 109, American Legion of Falmouth. He later married Edith Gun-saulye Doll, who survives his passing.
He is also survived by one son, Charles Doll, Jr.,of Barbourville, Ky.; two daughters, Harriett Meyers of Bracken County and Betty Mae Wright of Falmouth; five grandchildren, Sheila Brumley, Shonda Smith, Melissa Doll, Dana Wolfe, and Darrell Meeks; ten great-grandchildren; one step-daughter,Rita Ann Hodge of Covington, Ky.; three step-sons, Jerry Ellison of Atlanta, Georgia, Gilbert Godby of Fairfield, Ohio and Richard Godby of Copley, Ohio; and several step-grandchildren.
Funeral services took place on Saturday, October 4 at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. Don Mays officiating. Pallbearers were Bob Vance, Louie Albers, Ed Albers, Richard Godby and Richard Wright. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Hoess and David Pribble. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Full military services were held by the American Legion Post #109 and V.F.W. Post 1978 and D.A.V. members at Riverside Cemetery on October 4. Mr. Doll served in the United States Army in World War II.

McKinney, Earl Lovelace, Richard Godly, Rev. Shelby Meyers, Howard Hoess, Dan Woodhead, Shelby McDowell, Joe Wolfe and Charles Lem-mons. Taps was played by Michelle Caldwell.
Another veteran was laid to rest.
Memorials are suggested to the Falmouth Baptist Church.


David Archie McDonald, 63, of DeMossville, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2003 at his home. He was a Pendleton County farmer, retired as foreman of Hellertown Manufacturing in Hellertown, Pa., a member of Butler Lions Club, Studebaker and Crosley Car Club, A Kentucky Colonel, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors include wife, Irene McDonald, DeMossville, Ky.; son, David McDonald, Virginia Beech, Va.; daughter, Debra Lobb, Baltimore, Md.; step-son, Mark Petrakis, DeMossville; step-daughter, Jamie Petrakis, Albuquerque, NM; sisters, Essie White, Erlanger, Billie Bushard, Elsmere, Ky., and Donna Mc-Donald, Covington, Ky.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 8, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Pallbearers will be F. Gifford, Donnie Wenzel, Ralph Kyle, Jeremy Barlow, Rick Crail, Marvin Sullivan and Mike Gilkison. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Holmes, Alvin Adams, Elmer Ray, Steve Works, Louis Orme and Tinker Marquardt. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Garden in Taylor Mill, Ky., under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hope in Maysville.


Richard David Fries, 52, of Butler, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2003 at St. Luke East Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. He worked for Cinergy for 34 years as the Manager of Joint Trench Operations.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ruth Laible Fries of Butler; Mother, Shirley Fries of Alexandria, Ky.; Daughters-Katie Baker of Elsmere, Ky. and Jamie Fries of Frankfort, Ky.; Brother, Robert Fries of California, Ky.; Sisters-Patricia Short of Alexandria and Marianne Scharfenberger of Butler. Also survived by one grandson, Drew Commodore of Elsmere.
He was a member of the KY Auctioneers Association and served on the Board of Directors from 1988-present. Member of the Southern Campbell Tax Board from 2000-present. He was also a member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department from 1966-1972.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 27, 2003 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Alexandria.
Interment was in Saint Mary Cemetery, Saturday, September 27, 2003 under the direction of the Alexandria Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to Bishop Brossart High School or Southern Campbell Volunteer Fire Department.


Julia Frances Gifford, 83, of River Valley Nursing Home, formerly of Falmouth, passed away October 1, 2003 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler.
She was born in Pendleton County on May 4, 1920. She was the daughter of Homer and Cecil Culbertson Works. She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.
She was married to Floyd Gifford on July 20, 1945. She was preceded in death by Floyd and brothers Wayne and Elmo Works.
Survivors include: daughters Carolyn Crail of Highland Heights and Nancy Kyle of Peach Grove, sister Wilda Wenzel of Falmouth, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 4 at Peoples Funeral Home in Falmouth.
Interment was at the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Peoples Funeral Home handled the arrangements.


Grace M. Graves, 92, of Falmouth, passed away Friday, October 3, 2003 at the Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.
Mrs. Graves was born on May 2, 1911 in Alabama. She was the daughter of the late William Manuel and Lillie Palmer Watson. She married Will T. Graves and her dear husband preceded her in death on May 9, 1978. She was a homemaker, and a member at the Ruth Temple AME Methodist Church in Falmouth and the Lane CME Chapel in Covington. She devoted most of her life to the First Baptist Church in Falmouth, where she taught Sunday School and participated in church activities.
She leaves three daughters, Christine Gay of Winchester, Sylvia Graves of Covington, and Ann Higgins of Falmouth; two sons, Thomas (Voncile) Graves of Kokomo, Ind., and William (Carol) Graves of Cincinnati (Clifton), Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert M. Watson of New York; and two sister-in-laws, Mary Porter of Cynthiana and Ethel Graves of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 7 at the Falmouth Baptist Church, with Rev. William F. Hinton, Jr., and Rev. Harry Crozier officiating. The visitation will be from 4-7 pm. Tuesday evening at the Falmouth Baptist Church. Interment will take place in the Crescent Hill Cemetery, Fal-mouth.
Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, is serving the family.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.


Mildred Barnes Jenkins, 85, of Cynthiana, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2003 at the Health Center of Harrison Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 30, 1918, daughter of the late Jeff and Minnie Bryant Barnes. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of the Cynthiana Baptist Church and the widow of Frazier S. Jenkins.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Daisy Crawford, Lou K. Sutton and a brother, Virgil Barnes.
Survivors include two sisters, Pauline Tucker and Mary Sue Coppage, both of Cynthiana; nephews Roy Lee Crawford of Florence and Jeffrey Stewart Barnes of Berry, Ky.; nieces Betty Lou Wilson of Morgan, Mary Lou Peddicord, Shirley Smiley, Cathy Garrison and Virgie Sue Barnes, all of Cynthiana and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 6 at the Drake-Whaley-McCarty Funeral Ho-me, officiated by Rev. Bill Platt and Rev. Wayne Spivey. Pallbearers were Jeffrey Barnes, David Wilson, Roy Lee Crawford, Charles Glifford, Greg Peddicord, Allen R. Pickett, Cecil Smiley, Allen Burns, George Spegal, Larry Garrison and Derrick Butler. Burial followed the services in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass.


Nelle B. Kirby, 73, of Florence, Ky., passed away October 2, 2003 at St. Luke West Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Florence United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, William C. Kirby of Florence; daughter, Cathy Schreiber of Lakeside Park; son, Donald L. Eger of Mason, Ohio; step-son, Mark W. Kirby of Burlington; two step-daughters, Ramona C. Lahner of Dry Ridge and Cynthia A. Miles of Russellville, Ky.; two brothers, Ralph L. Marquette of Punta Gorda, Fla., and Rex E. Marquette of Oscala, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 7 at Florence United Methodist Church under the direction of Chambers and Grubbs in Florence. Crematory will be at Hillside Chapel in Clifton.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.


Billy Webster, 67, of Falmouth passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2003 at St. Elizabeth South Hospital.
Mr. Webster was born in Willliamstown, Ky., on August 17, 1936, the son of Cecil and Adamae Lilly Webster. He married Kay Abercrombie Webster on March 26, 1960.
Billy is survived by wife, Kay Webster, Falmouth, sons, Kevin Webster, Peach Grove, Bobby Webster, Covington, Jeff Webster, Falmouth, daughter, Jennifer Martin, Dry Ridge, brother, Edward Webster, Delhi, Ohio, sister, Betty Snyder, Delhi, Ohio, seven grandchildren, Jacqueline Webster, Mat-thew Webster, Michael Webster, Brenna Webster, Taylor Martin, Jacob Martin, and Joshua Mar-tin.
Visitation and services were held Saturday, October 4 at Kingdom Hall in Butler.
Interment was in Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick.


Harold Desha “Squirrelly” Worrell, 78, a resident of East Pike Street, Cynthiana, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Harrison County, Oct. 19, 1924, to the late Dallas and Mayme Lenox Worrell. He owned Worrell’s Auto Sales for 41 years, was a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church, a former District 1 Magistrate, a former vice chairman of the Housing Authority of Cynthiana Board, a lifetime member of the Cynthiana Elks Lodge 438, and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Worrell Henson.
Survivors include: his wife, Jeanette Doggett Worrell; a son, Tony (Christine) Worrell of Lexington; a daughter, Sheila (Gary) Price of Cynthiana; a brother, William Paul Worrell of Lexington; two grandchildren, Lauren Ross and Garyn Shea Price; and his mother-in-law, Ruby Doggett of Falmouth.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27 at Ware Funeral Home by Pastor David Sabella and Dr. Larry Bishop.
Interment was in the Battle Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Pallbearers were: Gary Price, John Wilson, Bill Doggett, Carol McCauley, Tony Smith, Harlo Henson, Frank Hiten, and Danny Brannock.
