Falmouth Outlook, November 25, 2003

Patsy Louise Ramsey, 66, of Butler, passed away on Monday November 17, 2003 at the St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born in Pendleton Co., Ky., on March 31, 1937, the daughter of Zola Blanch Hodge of Williamstown, Ky., and the late James Robert Yelton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Butler Christian Church in Butler, Ky.
Surviving in addition to her mother, Zola is her husband; Glendon Ramsey, daughters; Deborah Faith (David) Barnett of Falmouth, Ky., Glenna Hope Roseberry, Alisha Lynn Straub both of Butler, Ky., five grandchildren; Michael Barnett, A.J. Roseberry, Hollie Roseberry, Cory Straub and Nathan Straub, and a new grandchild due soon. Also surviving are sisters; Margaret Nix, Lochgelly, W. Virginia, Jean Bryan, Xenia, Ohio, Janet Delaney, Falmouth, Ky., Faye Rhomberg, Hender-sonville, Tenn.
Casket bearers were: David Cooper, Michael Barnett, A.J. Roseberry, Delbert Reid, Ralph Nordheim, Robert McGinnis.
Funeral services were held on Friday November 21, 2003 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, Ky. with Bro. Ray Trout officiating.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the River Valley Nursing Home, Stephen Delaney Memorial Fund or the Butler Christian Church.


Herschel L. Mitchell, 78, of Berry Ky., passed away on Wednesday November, 19, 2003 at his home. He was born in Corbin, Ky., on February 23, 1925. He was the son of Paris G. and Dora (Hopkins) Mitchell. He married Nellie Mae Cravens on June 1, 1944. He was a member of the Butler United Methodist Church and a member of the 32nd Masonic Masons, and a self employed Brick Contractor.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons; Keith and Joe Mitchell both of Falmouth, Ky., four grandchildren; Brian Mit-chell, Bradley Mitchell, Alana Messer, and Amanda Mitchell, two great-grandchildren; Sarah and Hope Messer.
Funeral services were held at the Butler United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 22.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Hazel Allender, 68, of Willow Lenoxburg Road, Brooksville, Ky., passed away on Monday November 24, 2003, at her home. Born on February 21, 1935 in Bracken County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ernest B. and Mary Elizabeth Cain Teegarden. She married Gerald Dean (Pete) Allender and her dear husband preceded her in death on November 3, 1991. She worked at the former Dr. Scholl’s Shoe Factory in Falmouth and was a member of the Forest Hill Baptist Church, Bracken County. She was also a member of the F.O.E. of Maysville.
She was preceded in death by Jerry Teegarden, Leatha Ware, Nannie, Clarence, and Betty Teegarden.
Survivors include three children; Carolyn (James) King, Crittenden, Ky., Rodney (Vicki Roberts) Allender and Louise (James) Winkle of Berlin; grandchildren Lisa and Jennifer King, Chris and Mary Clouse, companion of James Russell of Maysville; sister of Dave (Joyce) Teegarden, Georgia (Harold) Mains of Indepen-dence, Gladys Bishop, Cincinnati, Ohio, Wanda Mains of Cynthiana, Sue Moneyhon of Falmouth, and Barbara (Roy) Mains of Germantown.
Funeral services were held on Saturday November 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Darrell Breeden officiating. Music by Adarin Williams, Sherry Antrobus, and Carla Antrobus. The pallbearers were Chris Clouse, Jamie Moneyhon, Allen Teegarden, Timmy Figgins, Larry Combs, Troy Teegarden, Billy Allender, and Larry McClanahan.
Interment took place in the Lenoxburg Cemetery, Bracken County.


Charles (C.J.) Bays, 54, of Crooked Creek Road in Berry, Ky., passed away on Saturday November 22, 2003 at his home. He was born on October 1, 1949, at Gauge, Breathitt County, Kentucky, the eldest son of the late Mitchell and Ella Bays of Jackson, Ky. He was a member of the Unity Christian Church and served in the United States Air Force for eight years, serving with distinction in Vietnam, Greenland and the Phillipines plus stateside. He was a three year member of the Ky. National Guard as well as a proud member of the American Legion Post 109, Falmouth, Ky., the Kentucky Motorcycle Association Dist. 11, and Rolling Thunder, Chapter 5, Falmouth, Ky.
He was the loving husband of Bessie Margail Bays as well as the loving father of James Michael Wright.
Other survivors include one brother, Oscar Ray Bays and daughter Katessa of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister Kathy B. Alberts and husband Norman Alberts and son Roy Mitchell McClees of Jackson, Ky.; three brother-in-laws, Bill and wife Judy Latimer , Big Spring, Texas., Garry and wife Leta Latimer, Cynthiana, Ky., Jim and wife Chris Latimer, Burgin, Ky. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other friends and fellow bikers to mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky., visitation was held on Monday November 24, 2003 from 4-8 p.m.
Interment will take place in Pythian Grove, Berry, Ky.

Wilma L. Florence, 77, of Falmouth, passed away on Saturday November 22, 2003 at the St. Luke hospital West in Florence, Ky., after an extended illness. She was born in Pendleton Co., on February 11, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Crowe McGuire. She was a homemaker and a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church. She married George O. Florence on January 6, 1943 and was married for 54 1/2 years until his passing on June 17, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her oldest son, George O. Florence Jr., who lost his life in the Flood of March 1, 1997. She was also preceded in death by a grandson.
Additional survivors include sons; Terry Lee Florence, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, David Allen Florence, Falmouth, Ky.; daughter; Rita Sue Florence, Erlanger, Ky., eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, a brother Kenneth McGuire, Winchester, Ky., sisters; Alma Courtney and Fern Young, both of Winchester, Ky.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 26, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, Ky., by Rev. Don Mays, visitation will be Tuesday 6-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Serving as Pall Bearers were: Anthony Florence, Joe Gentry Jr., Jason Laytart, Tom Freska, Greg McGuire, and Steve Florence.
Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth, Ky.

Lawrence “Shorty” Moorhead, 68, of Falmouth (Neave Community), passed away on Thursday November 20, 2003 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky. He was born on January 7, 1935 and was a Farmer and Businessman. He was a member of Brooksville Christian Church, UKB Bank Director, Magistrate for 1994-99, Former Elder, Deacon and Chariman of the Board, Brooksville Christian Church and Sunday School Teacher. The son of the late Delmar and Edis Jane (Ramsey) Moorhead. He married Patty Ann (Bay) Moorhead on August 25, 1956 and she survives his passing.
Other survivors include; daughters, Debbie Moorhead Frank, Cincinnati, Ohio, Melony Phillips, Grand Rapids, Mich., three grandchildren; Zakary Lawrence Frank, Brent Hoffman, and Collin Hoffman, Step-children; Tan Frank, Marla Frank, Britanny Phillips, David Phillips and Tyler Phillips.
Funeral services were held on Sunday November 23, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Moore & Parker, Brooksville.
Interment took place in Neave Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.
Memorials are suggested to Camp Northward.


Falmouth Outlook, December 2, 2003

Evelyn Estelle Hornbeek, 88, of Butler, passed away on Thursday November 27, 2003 at her home. She was born in Covington, Ky., on September 15, 1915. She was the daughter of William and Gerture Day Garrison. She was a Retired merchant at Hornbeek Grocery for 38 years. She married Dempsey “Slick” Hornbeek who preceded her in death, she was also preceded in death by her brother William Garrison and sister Violet Garrison.
Survivors include her son Richard Hornbeek, Butler, Ky.; daughter Janet Bergen, New Brunswick, New Jersey; grandchildren; Shannon Purcell, Richard Scott Hornbeek, Jr. and wife Jemma; great grandchildren; Tyler Stockton, Morgan Purcell, and Sophia Hornbeek.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2003 at the Peoples Funeral Home in Butler.
Interment took place in the Butler Cemetery


David Lane Holland, 37, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2003, at his home. Born on September 14, 1966 in Harrison County, Kentucky, he was the son of Kay Merrill Holland of Falmouth and the late Larry Lane Holland, who preceded him in death on November 28, 1989. He was a 1985 graduate of Pendleton County High School, a child care specialist with The Northern Kentucky Children’s Home in Covington, a member of the Blanket Creek Baptist Church, Pendleton County.
In addition to his mother, Kay Williams of Falmouth, he leaves two brothers, Jim (Lisa) Holland of Cynthiana, Joe (Buffi) Holland of Nashville, Tenn.; four nieces, Jenny Dinsmoor, Makayla Holland, Kelsey Holland, and Jacque Holland; nephews, Will Selin and Stanley Holland.
Funeral services were held on Saturday November, 29, 2003 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Music by Kevin Merrill. The pallbearers were Jim Holland, Joe Holland, Will Selin, Stan Holland, Rick Adams, Gary Hardy, John Merrill, Jim Perkins, Elmer Utz. The honorary pallbearers were Elmer Ray and Don Wells.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Memorials are suggested to The Northern Kentucky Children’s Home, 200 Home Road, Covington, KY. 41011.


Edgar Thomas “E.T.” Gaunce, Jr., 91 of Paris, passed away on Friday November 28, 2003 at Bourbon Heights. He was born on October 29, 1912 in Nicholas Co. Ky., a retired Sales Manager, East of Mississipi River Region. He served in the Army from December 9, 1944 to June 19, 1946 in WW II, a member of 1st Baptist Church, Paris, Ky., and F&AM Lodge #52, Maysville, Ky. The son of the late Edgar Thomas “E.T.” Gaunce Sr. and Cora (Florence) Gaunce. He was preceded in death by his dear wife Bertha Florence (Wagoner) Gaunce on May 14, 1997.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Monday December, 1, 2003 at the 1st Baptist Church, Paris, Ky.
Interment took place in the Paris Cemetery, Paris, Ky.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.


James Edward “Jim” McGee, 79, of Germantown, Ky., passed away on Wednesday November 26, 2003 at Maysville Extended Care. He was born on April 16, 1924 in Mayslick, Mason Co. Ky. The son of the late John David and Ida Dora (Sidell) McGee. A retired farmer, and a member of Germantown Chris-tian Church. He was preceded in death by brothers; Lemuel McGee, John McGee, Clinton McGee and sisters Edna Bar-nett, Martha Tatman.
He is survived by his niece Donna Jo (Danny) Ruark, with whom he resided with, and a brother; Wayne McGee, Germantown, Ky., nine nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday November 30, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Palmer Funeral Home of Germantown.
Interment took place in the Germantown Cemetery, Mays-lick, Ky.
Memorials are suggested to Germantown Christian Church or Hospice of Hope.


Mable (Monahon) Schweickart, 84, of Germantown, Ky., passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2003 at Meadowview Reg. Med. Center in Maysville, Ky. She was born on May 23, 1919 in Germantown, Ky., worked at Hayswood Hospital in Maysville, Ky., as a Dietary Dept. Manager. The daughter of the late Jim and Lynn (McDowell) Monahon. She was a member of Germantown Christian Church, Bracken Co, Homemakers for 3 decades, State Vice President Ky Homemakers, 4-H Leader. She was preceded in death by her husband Dan Schweickart.
Survivors include one son Danny Schweickart, German-town, Ky.
Funeral services were held on Saturday November, 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Germantown Christian, Germantown, Ky.
Interment took place in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown.
Memorials are suggested to Germantown Christian Church or Charity of Choice.


Fred C. Haley, 83, of Millersburg-Cynthiana Road in Millersburg, passed away Saturday November 29, 2003, at the VA Hospital in Lexington. Born on January 14, 1920, in Pendleton Co., Ky., he was the son of the late Ned and Elsie Cooper Haley. He was a lineman for REA and a US Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Haley; son, Larry Haley, brother, Paul Haley, and sister, Mable Clemons.
Survivors include daughters, Sue McKee of Millersburg, Barbara (and Rich) Wheater of Rochester, NY, and Debbie (and Billy) Thompson of Lexington; sons, Barry (and Jane) Haley of Cynthiana and Jerry Haley of Richmond; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be from 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec-ember 2, 2003, at Pruitt Funeral Home.


Alta Josephine Meyer Wolfe, 78, of Cincinnati, formerly of Bracken County, passed away on Tuesday November 25, 2003 at East Galbraith Health Care, in Hamilton County. She was born in Bracken County on March 23, 1925, and a retired Seam-stress for Standard Textile Co.. She was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Willa Alta Moorhead Meyer. A member of Ashland Baptist Church in Norwood, Ohio.
Survivors include one son: Ralph (Pat) Teegarden, Bellevue, Ky., two grandchildren, Moique Monee’ Busch, Ludlow, Ky., James E. Wilder, Bellevue, Ky., five great-grandchildren, one sister; Dorothy Ward, Norwood, Ohio.
Funeral services were held on Saturday November 29, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, Ky.
Interment took place in the Johnsville Cemetery, Foster, Ky.


Wilmer Lee “Buddy” Fields, 69, of Falmouth, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2003 at his home. Born on April 1, 1934 in Pendleton County, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida Pearl Miller Fields. He graduated from Butler High School in the class of 1955. On May 4, 1963 he married Frances Wallace Fields and his dear wife survives his passing. As a life-long resident of Pendleton County, he was a well-known farmer.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Grover Fields and his sisters, Inez Perkins and Ruth King.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Frances Wallace Fields, he leaves one daughter; Cindy Diana Fields (Mearl) Slusher of Butler, one son; Wilbur “Bobby” Lee Fields of Falmouth, sister Chloe Godman, Cincinnati, Ohio, his mother-in-law; Gladys Wallace, Falmouth, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. The pallbearers will be Pat Stewart, Richard Halcomb, Timmy Teegarden, Marvin Sullivan, Lloyd Bockerstette, Bill Andy Flynn, and Bob Mitchell. The visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station, Maysville, KY. 41056.
