Alex Turner,
79, of Newport, passed away Thursday,
February 27, 2003 at St. Luke Hospital
East, Ft. Thomas.
He was a retired machine operator for
the Cincinnati Sheet Metal Company,
Cincinnati, Ohio.
Surivors include several nephews and
nieces.
Funeal services will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, March 4 at Cooper Funeral Home
in Grants Lick.
Interment will be in the Evergreen
Cemetery, Southgate.
Charles L.
Bruin, 71, of Brooksville,
passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2003
at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in
Maysville.
He was born July 4, 1931, in Bracken
County, son of the late Nelson Thornton
and Mable Dean (Mains) Bruin of
Williamstown. He worked for Duff Truck
Line in Cincinnati, Ohio as a dock
worker, from which he retired. He served
his country with the United States Army.
He was also a member of the Neave United
Methodist Church. He married Mary
(Meyer) Bruin, who preceded him in death
on October 6, 1980.
Also preceding him in death were two
brothers, David and Billy.
He is survived by children, Keith L.
Bruin and Karen (Billy) Gordley, both of
Brooksville, and Sherry (Freddy)
Sticklen of Chesapeake, Va.; two
grandchildren, Sabrina Ann Gordley and
Jack Vincent Charles Sticklen; a sister,
Betty Pugh of Falmouth; and five
brothers, Larry Bruin of Covington,
Jerry Bruin of Florida, Jimmy Bruin,
Gary Bruin and Mike Bruin, all of
Falmouth.
Funeral services were Friday, February
28 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home,
Brooksville.
Interment was in the Neave Cemetery.
Clarence
Dennis II, 80, of Park Hills,
Ky., passed away Thursday, February 27,
2003 at Village Care Center in Erlanger.
Born on June 15, 1922 in Harrison
County, he was the son of the late
Clarence and Kate Smiley Dennis Sr. He
married Anna E. Fogle Dennis on December
1, 1945 and his dear wife survives his
passing. He was a member of the Immanuel
United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park
where he served as church officer and
trustee, and he was a Sunday School
superintendent of the St. Luke United
Methodist Church. Mr. Dennis was a
retired tool and die maker with General
Electric Corp.. He retired after 26
years in 1987.
An infant daughter, Charlotte Anne
Dennis, preceded him in death in 1948.
He is survived by his wife, Anna E.
Fogle Dennis; two sons, Clarence Dennis
III of Atlanta, Ga. and Michael Dennis
of Ft. Mitchell; a daughter, Anita
Dennis Kearns of Louisville; two
brothers, Richard Dennis of Berry and
Sam Dennis of Cynthiana; a sister,
Kathryn Hall of Lexington; three
grandchildren, Michael Kearns, Joshua
Kearns and Kathryn Kearns; and several
nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Monday, March 3 at
the Immanuel United Methodist Church
with Rev. Paul Brunsetters and Dr. Don
Guth officiating. Music was shared by
Rev. Ken Easley, Sue Nemo, Jack Corwin
and the church choir. Serving as
pallbearers were his sons and his
nephews.
Interment was in the Pythiana Grove
Cemetery, Berry.
Woodhead Funeral Home of Berry served
the family.

Myrtle Thompson, 94, of
Falmouth, passed away Monday, February
24, 2003 at River Valley Nursing Home,
Butler.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert
Thompson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughters, Karen
Flaherty of Falmouth and Marilyn Strunk
of Florence; a sister, Betty Knapp of
Cincinnati; four grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, February 27 at
Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery,
Southgate.

Biddle, 79, of California, Ky.,
passed away Thursday, February 27, 2003
at St. Elizabeth Hospital South in
Edgewood.
She was a retired employee of the Heekin
Can Company in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Earl
Biddle Sr.; a daughter, Betty Beamon of
California; sisters, Pearl Schof and
Rosella Schof, a brother, Carl Hogle
Jr., a son, Earl Biddle Jr., all of
California; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Monday, March 3 at
Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick.
Interment was in the Alexandria
Cemetery.

Gayle
Earle Kissinger, 68, of Tamarac,
Florida, formerly of Stow, Ohio,
Northern Kentucky and Harrison County,
passed away on Thursday, February 27,
2003 at the University Hospital in
Tamarac, Florida.
She was born on July 30, 1934 in
Harrison County, daughter of Aleene
Perkins Earle and the late Andrew “Jack”
Earle, who preceded her in death on
April 25, 1999. She married Charles
Kissinger and her dear husband preceded
her in death on December 13, 2000. She
was a retired employee of Integra Bank
in Pittsburg, Pa.
In addition to her mother, Alene Perkins
Earle of Tamarac, Florida, she leaves
her son, Jeffrey Earle (Brenda)
Kissinger of Tamarac, Florida, her
daughter, Leslie Gayle (Kerry) Kissinger
of Columbus, Ohio, and two grandsons,
Sean Patasel and Conner Patasel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Tuesday, March 4 at Woodhead Funeral
Home, Berry. The visitation will be from
noon-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral
home.
Interment will be in the Pythian Grove
Cemetery, Berry.

George
Douglas Moore, 59, of Westcliff,
Colorado, formerly of Ft. Thomas, passed
away on February 14, 2003.
He was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Westcliff, Colorado, and was
on the committee for the new parsonage
they are planning to build. He graduated
from Highlands High School where he
played football. After school he went to
work for Cincinnati Bell as a lineman
where he retired after 32 years.
He is the son of the late George and
Emma Kinney Moore and is survived by his
wife, Valerie Welch Moore, a son,
Michael of Ft. Thomas, a daughter,
Jennifer of Covington and two
grandchildren, also an aunt, Faye Gately
of Ft Thomas.
A service was held in Westcliff for his
new friends and church family there.
There was a memorial service here for
family and friends Saturday, March 1 at
the Faith Christian Center in Park
Hills.

417 S. 6th Street, P.O. Box 296,
Westcliff, CO 81252.
Interment was in Colorado where he loved
to fish, hunt and watch the wildlife.

Haddix Teegarden, 71, of
DeMossville, passed away Tuesday,
February 25, 2003 at her home.
She was the widow of Charles Teegarden
and her husband preceded her in death on
November 23, 1999. She was born on
November 8, 1931, the daughter of the
late Willie and Ninnie Haddix. Mrs.
Teegarden was a homemaker.
Also preceding her in death were two
grandchildren, Sammy Teegarden and
Heather Jackson, three sisters and eight
brothers.
She is survived by 10 children, Ray
Teegarden of Williamstown, Jimmy
(Cheryl) Teegarden, Roy Teegarden and
Randy (Jessica) Teegarden, all of
Falmouth, Kathy (John) Jackson, Johnny
(Sharon) Teegarden, Tommy (Jennifer)
Teegarden, all of Demossville, Gwendolyn
Teegarden and Jerry Teegarden, both of
Butler, and Timmy (Jessica) Teegarden of
Foster; 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchilden.
She is also survived by a sister, Mary
Traylor Falmouth.
Funeral services for Mrs. Teegaren were
Friday, February 28 at Woodhead Funeral
Home in Falmouth, under the direction of
Bro. Dale Bobb. Pallbearers were Ray
Teegarden, Lonnie Wanstrath, Steve
Wanstrath, Steve Jackson, John Jackson
Jr. Robert Tarvin, Jeff Browning and
Randy Traylor.
Interment was in the Butler Cemetery.

Helen
Francis Riley, 55, of Hamilton,
Ohio, formerly of Pendleton County,
passed away on February 25, 2003.
Born on February 12, 1948 in Pendleton
County, she was the daughter of Archie
and Mary Elizabeth Lawson. She married
Donald Riley and he passed away on
February 25, 2003. Formerly she worked
as a nursing home administrator and
currently she worked with the Butler
County Social Services.
In addition to her parents, Archie and
Mary Elizabeth Lawson of Falmouth, she
leaves a daughter, Sharon Caldwell of
Walton and two sons, George Hurst of
Williamstown and Collin Hurst of
Florence; six grandchildren, Dale
Teegarden, Cody Teegarden, Austin
Northcutt, Brandon Hurst, Makala
Caldwell and Destiny Hurst; sisters,
Sylbina Traylor and Arlene Fodor, both
of Falmouth; brothers, Ronnie Lawson,
Larry Lawson, John Lawson, Wayne Lawson,
all of Pendleton County.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 1
at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with
Bro. Don Mays officiating. Serving as
pallbearers were George and Collin
Hurst, Ronnie and Larry Lawson, Emile
Fodor and Ricky Cox.
Interment was in the Mt. Moriah
Cemetery, Pendleton County.

“Jim” DeMoss, 46, of Cincinnati,
Ohio, passed away Tuesday, February 25,
2003 at the Mercy-Franciscan Hospice of
Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was a salesman for Carpetland,
Cincinnati.
Survivors include his mother and
step-father, Bonnie and Ronald L. Black
of Alexandria; two step-daughters,
Kimberly Smith and Virginia Irene Smith,
both of Cincinnati; a step-son, James M.
DeMoss of Cincinnati; a brother, John W.
DeMoss of Brooksville, Indiana; and four
step-brothers, Terry Black of Grants
Lick, Roy Black of Alexandria, Todd
Black of Ft. Thomas and Tim Black of
Highland Heights.
Services were Saturday, March 1 at
Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick.
Interment was in the Alexandria
Cemetery.

Evelyn Hornsby, 86, of
Lawrenceburg, Indiana, formerly of Grant
County, passed away Monday, February 24,
2003 at Dearborn County Hospital in
Lawrenceburg.
She was a retired nurse’s aide and
homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Ronnie Wagner of
Maui, Hawaii and Dennis Wagner of Dry
Ridge; a daughter, Phyllis Fisher of
Lawrenceburg; sisters, Augusta Liggett
of Cincinnati, Dorothy Smith of
Lexington and Helen Harrison of Racine,
Wis.; a brother, Silas Fight of
Wheelersburg, Ohio; six grandchildren
and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were Thursday, February 27 at
Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Interment was in IOOF Cemetery, Corinth.

Howard Cook, 68, of Dry Ridge,
passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2003
at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt.
Zion Baptist Church, Dry Ridge. Her
husband, Norman Cook, and a grandson,
Jeremy Cook, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sons, Richard Cook
of Mt. Zion and Kerry Cook of
Williamstown; daughters, Barbara Kennedy
of Florence, Brenda Rose of Dry Ridge,
Mary Florence Dryer of Georgetown and
Donna Glass of Mt. Zion; brothers, James
Howard of the state of California,
Samuel Howard of Walton and Ross Howard
of Benton; sisters, Virginia Kacaba of
the state of California, Florence Ryan
of Walton and Flora Ryan, both of
Walton, and June Acre of Edwardsville,
Ill.; 13 grandchildren, two
step-grandchildren and a
great-granddaughter.
Services were Saturday, March 1 at
Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Dry
Ridge.
Melva
McBride Young, 102, of Falmouth,
passed away Saturday, March 1, 2003 at
the Northern Kentucky Care and
Rehabiliation Center in Highland
Heights.
Born on January 6, 1901 in Pendleton
County, she was the daughter of the late
Melvin and Mamie Shonert McBride. She
married Sam T. Young and her husband
preceded her in death. She had been a
soloist with the First Baptist Church in
Miami, Florida. She was a member of the
Falmouth Baptist Church where she was
the church pianist for over 50 years.
She was a graduate of the Conservatory
of Music in Cincinnati. Her cantatas on
Easter and Christmas were beautifully
done. Mrs. Young was well known for the
fancy like hats she always wore. Before
her death, she was the second oldest
living graduate of Falmouth High School,
having graduated from there in 1919. In
addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her first cousin,
Warren Jeffrey Shonert Jr. on April 29,
2002.
She leaves two second cousins, Genevieve
Grace Shonert of Falmouth and Jeffrey
Hancock Shonert of New York.
Funeral services were held at the
Falmouth Baptist Church on Tuesday,
March 4 with Bro. Don Mays officiating.
Music was shared by the Falmouth Baptist
Church Children’s Choir, Denise Best
Dean, Lisa Arnold, Kathy Carr, Debbie
Ketron, and Amy McKinney. Pallbearers
were J. W. McKinney, Marty McKinney, Bob
Best, Robbie Best, Alex Monroe, Dave
Hill and Dan Woodhead.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.

Richard
Gulick, 88, of Falmouth, passed
away Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the
St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in
Edgewood.
He was born on July 4, 1914 in Pendleton
County, son of the late W. T. and Nancy
Fletcher Gulick. Mr. Gulick has lived in
Pendleton County all of his life, and he
has dedicated 42 years of his life to
serving the county. He married Ava Lou
Mains Gulick on June 12, 1936 and his
dear wife preceded him in death on March
6, 1999.Mr. Gulick was an elder and a
member of the Morgan Christian Church,
Pendleton County, for over 60 years.
Mr. Gulick graduated from Falmouth High
School in 1932. During those years, he
played football, baseball and
basketball. He received football and
basketball scholarships to the
University of Cincinnati where he
completed his undergraduate studies in
education. In 1941 he received his
Masters Degree from the University of
Kentucky.He is survived by his daughter
and son-in-law, Nancy Gulick Harville
and Hiram Harville of Falmouth; two
grandchildren, Richard Allen Wood and
his wife, Donna and Stephen Phillip Wood
and wife, Dawn, both of Falmouth; five
great-grandchildren, Tom Wood, Brett
Wood, Casey Wood, Megan Wood and Mason
Wood, all of Falmouth; and two
great-great-grandchildren, Hunter Wood
and McKenzie Brook Wood, both of
Falmouth.
Funeral services were Monday, March 3 at
Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with
Rev. Katherine Roark officiating. The
music was shared by Michelle Faulkner.
Pallbearers were Rick Wood, Steve Wood,
Brett Wood, Tom Wood, Casey Wood, Megan
Wood and Mason Wood. Honorary
pallbearers were Bob Gulick, Dicky Wyatt
and the deacons and elders of the Morgan
Christian Church.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery,
Falmouth.
