Frances
(Florence) Fields,
97, of Falmouth, Ky. passed away on Sunday
December 28, 2003, at The Health Center in
Cynthiana, Ky. She was born in Nicholas
County, Ky. on March 17, 1906. She was the
daughter of the late William Sherman
Florence and Tina Mae Fryman. She was a
homemaker, a member of Neave United
Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
She was preceded in death by her husband
Heber C. Fields on January 24, 1974,
sisters, Grace Rudd, Ruth King; brothers,
Bill and Jay Florence.
Survivors include: son, Winsor Fields,
Falmouth, Ky., daughter, Roberta Persinger,
Milford, Ky. Grandchildren: Linda Hacker and
Wilma Lynch, both of Lexington, Ky., Randall
and James Fields, both of Brooksville, Ky.,
Beverly Appleman, Germantown, Ky., Anna
Weiss, Minerva, Ky. Sister: Nora Florence
Hargett, Brooksville, Ky., brother: Paul
Florence, Falmouth, Ky.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday
December 31, 2003 at Moore and Parker
Funeral Home, Brooksville, Ky.
Interment took place in the Neave Cemetery,
Falmouth, Ky.
Elizabeth
Ware Goodan,
89, formerly of Lexington, Ky., passed away
on Monday January 5, 2004, at the River
Valley Nursing Home in Butler. Elizabeth was
born in Win-chester, Ky., on November 27,
1914. She was the daughter of Benjamin F.
and Margaret (White) Ware. She retired from
Irvin Company, Inc., and was a member of
Woodland Christian Church.
Survivors include: daughter, Betty Bay,
Butler, Ky., grandson: David Bay, Butler,
Ky., three great-grandsons, Morgan, Spencer
and Robert Bay.
Private graveside service will be held at 11
a.m. on Wednesday January 7, 2004 at the
Win-chester Cemetery, under the direction of
Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Memorials if desired are suggested to the
Pendleton County Public Library.
Elizabeth Frances (Nash) Bravard Copens,
87, of Augusta, Ky., passed away on Thursday
January 1, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital. She
was born on December 10, 1916 in Augusta,
Ky., the daughter of the late John Rochester
“Jack” Nash and Mary Elizabeth Bloomer (Lizzy).
She was preceded in death by four brothers,
her daughter, Frances Ellis, and her
husbands; Charles Henry Bravard, and Dan
Copens. She retired as a cook from Corner
Cafe Restaurant, Augusta, Ky., a member of
VFW Auxillary, Augusta, Ky., Augusta Church
of Nazarene.
Survivors include: sons, Charles Rochester
(Juanita) Bravard, Donald Lee Bravard, both
of Augusta, Ky., Thomas Allen (Burnars)
Bravard, Bethel, Ohio, daughters: Elizabeth
(Carl) Berry, Aberdeen, Ohio, Dorothy Jean
Napier, Brooksville, Ky., Sharon Sayers
(Adopted daughter), Augusta, Ky. Fourteen
grandchildren, twenty-two great-
grandchildren.
Services were held at 3 p.m. on January 4,
2004 at Moore and Parker Funeral Home,
Augusta, Ky. Active pallbearers: Brian,
Shawn, Chris, and Jeffrey Bravard, Billy,
Kelly, and Harvey Napier and Jimmy Purdon,
Honorary pallbearer: Jimmy McFee.
Interment took place in the Highland
Cemetery, Augusta, Ky.
Ethel Jane
Linville,
85, of Germantown, passed away on Thursday,
January 1, 2004 at the Augusta Health Care,
she was born in Germantown, Ky., April 14,
1918, to the late William Francis Welch and
Bertha Mae (Estep) Welch. She was married to
the late Samuel Grant Linville, who passed
away on May 25, 1979. She was also preceded
in death by two brothers and five sisters. A
member of the Chatham Church in Bracken
County.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane Jane
Linville (Barry) Workman, Brooksville, son:
Sammy Earl Linville and fian-cee Cindy
Forshee, Florence, Ky.; grandchildren, David
Allen Linville, Texas, Christy Hester,
Scotty and Michael Workman all of
Brooksville, Samantha Jo and Colten Linville
of Maysville., Six great-grandchildren.
Brother, Earl Welch, Germantown, Ky.,
sister; Clara Louise Lansky, Florida. She
also leaves behind four sister-in-laws;
Margaret Watkins, Joyce Tuel, Louise
Crawford all of Germantown and Sandy
Mulligan, Brooksville, three
brother-in-laws; Quintin Earl Linville,
Brooksville, Jr. Linville, Germantown, and
Jimmy Dale Linville of Augusta.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday
January 4, 2004 at Palmer Funeral Home in
Germantown.
Interment took place in the Maple Grove
Cemetery in Germantown.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope
909 Kenton Station Dr., Maysville, KY 41056.
Dortha Curtis,
80, of Corinth, passed away on Thursday Jan-uary,
1, 2004, at the Central Baptist Hospital in
Lexington. Born on December 15, 1923 in
Missouri, she was the daughter of the late
Sam and Fonza Roberts Blake. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Edward
Curtis and her brother, Elbert Blake in
2003.
Survivors include daughters: Tnger Cloe,
Cynthiana and Bernadine Moyer, Dayton, Ohio,
two grandchildren: Michelle and Micah Moyer,
one brother: Warren Blake, Springfield, Mo.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on January 5,
2004 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry
with Rev. Susan B. Ellis. Music was shared
by Pat Burr. The pallbearers were Edwin
Fogle, Randall Cloe, Micah Moyer, Randy
Gill, Eddie Herron and Harold Herron. The
honorary pallbears were Gene Adams and Tony
Epperson.
Interment took place in the Pythian Grove
Cemetery, Berry.
Wendell
Ray “Buck” Merrill,
62, of Brooksville, Ky. passed away on
Monday December 29, 2003 at his home. He was
a self-employed painter, born on April 14,
1941 in Robertson County, Ky., to Samule
Merrill and Stella (Donaldson) Merrill. He
was preceded in death by his father on July
27, 1994. He married Brenda (Hull) Merrill
on July 18, 1964 and she survives his
passing.
Additional survivors include: sons, Rodney
(Sherry) Merrill, Brooksville, Ky., Donald
(Sandy) Merrill, Cynthiana, Ky. and his
daughter Kami (Kevin) Jarrells, Stonewall,
Ky., four grandchildren. A brother, James
Merrill, Safety Harbor, Fla., and a sister,
Connie Fair, Waldorf, Maryland.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday
December 31, 2003 at Palmer Funeral Home,
Germantown, Ky.
Interment took place in the Maple Grove
Cemetery, Germantown, Ky.
