Imogene Eshman, 72, of California, Ky., passed away on Thursday January 22, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born in Ky. on October 21, 1931 the daughter of Millard and Emma Longworth Prince. She was a homemaker, a member of 2nd 12 Mile Baptist Church, Teacher for Homemaker Sunday School Class, W.M.U. Sec. and Treasurer. She married Johnny Eshman on May 11, 1951, and he survives her passing.
Additional survivors include: son, Terry, Alexandria, Ky.; daughter, Vicky Strausbaugh, Alexandria, Ky., brother: Willard Prince, Sabastian, Fla., Ronnie Prince, DeMossville, Ky.; sisters: Wanda Casson, Cheektowaga, N.Y., Margie Gallagher, California, Ky., Carol Haubner, Falmouth, Ky., Pam Bowen, DeMossville, Ky., four grandchildren: Mike, Terry and Edward Eshman, Meghannie and Marietta Strausbaugh. three great-grandchildren; Allie, Nicholas and Andrew Eshman.
Services were held on January 25, 2004 at 2nd 12 Mile Baptist Church in Peach Grove, Ky.
Interment took place in the Peach Grove Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky.

Ernest Moreland, 85, Ohio Ernest Moreland, 85, of Kettering, Ohio., passed away on Saturday January 17, 2004. He was the son of the late Albert and Clara Moreland, a member of Bethany Church of Christ, he was involved in moving and storage for many years. He served in the Army during World War II and received the bronze star and purple heart. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Loretta Moreland; son, Larry Moreland and grandson Dana Hesler. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Selma (Holmes) Moreland.
Additional survivors include: daughter; Marjorie Hesler, Kettering, son; David and wife, Judy Moreland, Huber Heights, Richard and wife, Robyn Moreland, Centerville; special granddaughter, Susie Beener, Kettering; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Services were held on January 21 at Routsong Funeral Home, Kettering with Rev. Bob Harvey officiating.
Interment took place in Woodland Cemetery.


 

Martha Jean Neal Northcutt, 72, of Walton, Ky., passed away on Thursday January 22, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital in Florence, Ky. She was a former assistant for St. Vincent DePaul of Crescent Springs and a former waitress for K & K Restaurant & Shamrock Restaurant. She was preceded in death by her husband William Ray Northcutt in 2000.
Survivors include: sons; Billy and Edward Northcutt, both of Walton, Ky., George Northcutt, Falmouth, Ky., Timmy North-cutt, Florence, Ky., daughters: Wanda McClanahan and Wray Jean Northcutt both of Walton, Debbie Buckler, Florence, Ky., fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday January 26, 2004 at Chamber & Grubbs in Walton.
Interment took place in the Flora Hills Cemetery.

Leroy C. “Pete” Doughtery, 70, California, Ky., passed away Sunday, January 18, 2004 at the Miami Haven Nursing Home, Cleves, Ohio. He was born September 11, 1933 in Peach Grove, Ky., to Clay and Anna (nee Emminger) Doughtery. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. He worked for 19 years as a maintenance mechanic at Kenner Toys, formerly headquartered in Cincinnati. He joined the Eastern Campbell Volunteer Fire Department in the late 1950’s and served for over 20 years, 13 years as chief. He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Church, California, Ky.,
Mr. Doughtery is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lorraine Doughtery (nee Scharold); four sons, Mike of Mentor, Ky., Mark and Marty of California, Ky., and Doug of Butler, Ky.; two daughters, Marilyn Carstens of Lexington; and Teri Conn of Hooven, Oh.; one brother, Ern-est of Wagner, S.C.; and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial mass was held Saturday, Jan. 24 at Saints Peter & Paul Church, California, Ky.
Memorials may be sent to Miami Haven Nursing Home, State Route 128, Cleves, Ohio 45002 or to the Eastern Camp-bell County Fire Department, 3707 Smith Road, California, Ky., 41007.


 

Earl G. O’Nan, 72, of  Falmouth, formerly of Frankfort, passed away Saturday January 17, at his home following a long illness. Born in Henry County on March 17, 1932, the son of the late Fred O’Nan, he was a 1950 graduate of Frankfort High School and was awarded an engineering transportation cabinet scholarship which he used to attend the University of  Kentucky and received his degree in Civil Engineering.
Survivors include: his wife, Sue Moore O’Nan, his mother, Katie Parks O’Nan Beutel; three daughters: Tress O. Thompson, Falmouth, Jenny O. Crupper, Independence, Ky., Rebecca O. Blank, Florence, Ky.; two sons: Michael O’Nan, Bracken County, Daniel O’Nan, Crittenden, Ky., and seven grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday January 20, 2004 at Rogers Funeral Home in Frankfort.
The Rev. Dale Bobb will officiate at the services.
Bearers will be Harry Brinkmeyer, Dr. Carl Ray Harding, Bob Lancaster, Bill McDonald, John Mitchell, Edmund Rodman, and Bob Yelton.
Honorary bearers will be grandchildren, Christopher O’Nan, H. Megan Thompson DeYore, Joshua Crupper, Derrick O’Nan, Trey Blank, Matthew Crupper, Susie Blank and his mother, Katie Beutel.
Interment took place in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Margaret Race Thurman, 56, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Thursday January 15, 2004 at her home. Born on January 15, 1948, the daughter of the late Leroy Race, Sr., and Luella Taylor Race, she was a member of Shiloh Full Gospel Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, John Thurman, son; Bille Messer, both of Falmouth, Ky., stepdaughters: Frances Sue Thurman, Winchester, Ky., Loretta Lynn Thurman, Somer-et, Ky., brothers: Donald Race and Roy Race, Jr., both of Jonesville, Ky., Floyd Race, Sherman, Ky., Gary Race, Piner, Ky., George Race, Wheatley, Ky., sister: Ruby Harris, Crittenden, Ky., and eight grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday January 17, 2004 at Shiloh Full Gospel Church, Corinth, Ky., under the direction of Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, with clergyman Rev. Floyd Race.
Interment took place in the Keefer Cemetery, Corinth, Ky.

Ruby Pribble Owen, 85, of Butler, passed away on Thursday January 22, 2004, at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. Ruby was born in Butler, Kentucky on August 21, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Charles Frank and Sue (Fancher) Pribble, a member of the Butler Christian Church, owner of the Farmer’s Market Grocery in Butler. She was on the Pendleton County School Board from January 1967 to December 1974, she married Gordon Owen on March 15, 1937.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Owen, son, Neal Owen, brothers, Elmo, Tom, Charles and Lyle “Peter” Pribble, sisters, Stella Peoples, Hallie Fisher.
Survivors include: daughters, Sidney Owen, Cincinnati, Ohio., Jennifer Owen, Boca Raton, Fla., brother David Pribble, Falmouth, Ky.
Services were held on Sunday January 25, 2004 at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.
Interment took place in the Butler Cemetery.

Oma Wooten, 99, of Bloomington, formerly of Alexandria, Ky. passed away on Wednesday January 14, 2004 at Hospitality House in Bloomington. She was born on May 22, 1904 in Leslie County, Kentucky, the daughter of John M. and Sarah (Morgan) Melton. She was a homemaker, a member of the Licking Valley Baptist Church in Alexandria. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt in 1963; three sons, William Harrison Wooten, Eugene Wooten, and Enoch Wooten; four brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter; Anges Ingram of  Solsberry, one son Everett Wooten, Alexandria, Ky., and a sister; Fannie Turner of Marietta, Ga., twenty three grandchildren, forty five great-grandchildren, and nine great great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday January 17, 2004 at the Cooper Funeral Home in Grants Lick, Ky., additional services were held on Sunday January 18, 2004 at the O’Neal Funeral Home, Corbin, Ky.
Interment took place in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Keavy, Ky.


 

Audrey Marquette Cummins, 92, of Morgan Road, Falmouth passed away on Monday January 19, 2004 at the Grant Manor Nursing Home in Williamstown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret (Conrad) Marquette, born on August 13, 1911. She was a retired Cafeteria Manager with the public school system, an 81 year member of the Short Creek Baptist Church, she also helped organize the Pendleton County Homemakers, and Pendleton County Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Marquette and sister Faye E. Browning.
Survivors include son: Terry L. (Vera) Cummins, New Albany, Indiana and his children; Dani (Marty) Fort, Tim (Marilyn) Cummins, Clint Cummins and Curt, grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Timmy, Tegan, Tyra, Terry, and John, daughter: Ann (Tommy) Ammerman and her children; Gay (Barry) Napier, Gil (Cindy) Ammerman, Steve (Tammy) Ammerman grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Heather (Stephen) Mann, Wade (Kelly) Napier, Brentany, Stephanie and Mallory.
Services were held on Thursday January 22, 2004 at the Short Creek Baptist Church under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.

Falmouth Outlook, February 3, 2004

Raymond A. Kelly, 63, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2004 at the Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Ft. Thomas, Ky. He was born in Pendleton County Ky., on May 28, 1940 a son of the late Joseph and Ernestine Bryan Kelly. He was a retired employee of the Kentucky State Highway Department and a member of the St. Francis Xavier Church in Falmouth, Ky. He was an avid Nascar Racing Fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan B. Kelly, May 22, 1993 and a son Raymond Allen Kelly Jr., December 17, 1988.
Survivors include: sister, Paula Pettit, Louisville, Ky.; brothers: Carl Kelly, Alexandria, Ky., Ralph Kelly, Colorado Springs, Ky.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 31, at St. Francis Xavier Church, in Fal-mouth Ky., with Rev. Gregory Bach officiating. Special music was shared by Carolyn Scheben and Martha Lynn. Pallbearers for the service were marty Kelly, Mark Kelly, Mike Kelly, Mike Fox, Dave Ficker, Bryan Pettit, John Hopewell, and David Hart. Prayers at the funeral home prior to the mass were led by Carleen Ficker.
Interment took place in the St. Xavier Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.
Woodhead Funeral Home served the family.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Youth Group of St. Francis Xavier Church.


 

Wilda Wenzel, 79, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Saturday January 31, 2004 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Ky. She was born in Pendleton County on January 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Homer and Cecile Culbertson Works, a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church in Pendleton County; she was a farmer, Homemaker and a licensed practical nurse, working for the former Dr. Scholl’s of Falmouth. She married Floyd Joesph Wenzel on January 31, 1946 and they were married for 58 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband is a son; Donald Ray Wenzel, Falmouth, Ky.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 3, 2004 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth by Bro. Darrell Breeden. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. till time of services. Pallbearers for the service will be Tom Crail, Mark Kyle, Jim Mullins, Kenny Roberts, Roger Haubner, and Richard Hess. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Alvin Adams, Omer Bentle, Elwood Moore, Richard Fryer, Estill J. Owens, Steve Works, David Hess, and Raymond Hess.
Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in Falmouth, Ky.


 

Paul Albert Schmitz, 75, of Alexandria passed away on Monday January 19, 2004 at St. Luke East, he was born in Covington, Ky., on July 6, 1928, the son of the late Albert H. and Mary (Herzog) Schmitz. He was a retired Field Supervisor of the Sanitation District, a member of the United States Coast Guard and served in World War II. A member of the American Legion Post 11, and St. Mary’s Catholic church in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise (Baker) Schmitz-2002.
Survivors include: sons, Richard Schmitz, Latonia, Ky., Guy Schmitz, Cleves, Ohio, Dwain Bowling, Cold Springs, Ky.; daughters: Paula Powell, Union, Ky., Barb Cawood, Bromley, Ohio, Cindy Bailey, Ludlow, Ky., Vicki Mastin, Latonia, Ky. Sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Beloved family friends; Judy and Elva Bowen, Hebron, Ky.
Services were held on Friday January 23 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Grants, Lick Ky.
Interment took place in Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick Ky.


 

Mildred Drake 99, of Silver City NM, formerly of Butler, passed away on Tuesday January 27, 2004. Mrs. Drake was born November 22, 1904 in Butler, Ky. She was the daughter of Elmon and Nora (Barton) Yelton. She married Charles Verner Drake, June 15, 1940 in Silver City, NM. She graduated from high school in Butler, Ky., in 1922, she was a teacher in Pendleton County for almost two decades. In 1939, she moved to Grant County, NM. She began teaching in New Mexico around 1942. Mrs. Drake retired at age 65, even after her retirement, she substituted at St. Mary’s School and also taught adults at Western New Mexico University. She finally retired from teaching at the age of seventy-five. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one sister Merle Firestone; one brother Curry Yelton.
Survivors include: two sons, Charles (Peggy) Drake, Silver City, Johnny Drake (Margaret) “Peggy”, Missoula, MT; six grandchildren, Sandy Drake, Cheryl Drake, John Drake; Brandi Caldwell all of Montana; Billy Drake, Washington State, Jessica Drake, Tempe, AZ; two grandsons Scott Drake, Montana, William Drake, Ft. Worth, TX; one niece Nancy Firestone, Colorado, one nephew Tom Firestone, Indiana and her lifelong friend Lois Ann Record.
Bright Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held on February 2, with Interment in Memory Lane Cemetery.
The family had requested that any contributions go to Valley Community Church, 19-A Racetrack Road, Silver City, NM 88061


 

Jay Carl “J.C.” Miller, 51, of the Chatham community passed away on Friday January 30, 2004 at his home. He was born in Mason County on February 14, 1952, the son of the late Carl and Virginia Perkins Miller, a member of the Chatham Christian Church.
Survivors include: brother, Keith (Betsy) Miller, Chatham, two nephews: Todd (Nikki) Miller, with whom he made his home and Troy Miller, Palm Springs, Calif. Also surviving are an aunt: Edith Riley, Augusta, Ky., and Harold (Joyce) Perkins, Taylor Mill, Ky., cousins: Tami Phillips, Tracye Perkins and Steve Perkins.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday February 3, at the Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Augusta, Ky.
Interment will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown, Ky.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Drive Maysville, KY 41056


 

Winston Barry Sharp, 94, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Friday January 30, 2004 at the River Valley Nursing Home in Butler, Ky. He was born on June 7, 1909; son of the late Joe and Sally Blackburn Sharp. He was a Pendleton County native, a graduate of Falmouth High School; he was a retired School Teacher, Barber and Farmer, a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one brother; Roger Sharp, one sister; Mildred Toadvine and his wife, Emma Grace Cooper Sharp in November of 1996.
Survivors include: daughter, Patty (Howard) Ammerman Hoess, Falmouth, Ky., two grandchildren: Angie (Andy) Mullins, Dean (Tammy) Ammerman, five great-grandchildren; Christy and Lindsay Mullins, April Ammerman Meadows, Barry Ammerman, and Cassandra Ammerman, and one great-great-grandson Blake; one brother Joe (Katherine) Sharp, Covington, Ky.
Services were held on February 1, 2004 at Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth, Ky., with Bro. Darrell Breeden and Rev. Don Mays officiating. Adarin Williams sang “When We All Get To Heaven,” which was his favorite hymn. Casketbearers foe the service were Barry Ammerman, Dean Ammerman, Andy Mullins, Paul Layton, Leon Galloway, George Toadvine, Jamie Meadows, and Dodd Hance. Honorary bearers were Preston Farrar, Richard Courtney, Christy Mullins, Lindsay Mullins, April Meadows, Angie Mullins, and Cassandra Ammerman.
Interment took place in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Pendleton County.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hope or the Falmouth Baptist Church.
