Sondra Apolloni, 65, Foster

Sondra Jane Apolloni, 65, of Foster, Ky., passed away on Tuesdy, July 20, 2004, at St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born on August 28, 1938 in Somerset, Ky., the daughter of the late Lonnie Childers and Ora Jane (Daulton) Mellene, she was a factory worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Apolloni, and sisters, Reva Wyon and Frances St. Pierce.
Survivors include sisters, Gloria Ann Peters, Batavia, Ohio, Karen Sue Tiesman, Cincinnati, Ohio, Iwana Young, Foster, Ky., brothers, Melvin Childers, Ariz., Bill Childers, Ripley, Ohio, Wendell Childers, Cincinnati, Ohio.
Services were held on July 25 at Chatham Christian Church.
Interment took place in the Brooksville Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, Ky.

 

Charles Williams, 77, Falmouth

Charles Tommy Williams, 77, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on July 20, 2004 at the Grand Haven Nursing Home in Cynthiana. Charles was born in Demossville on June 20, 1927 to the late Otis and Florence (Woodyard) Williams. He was retired from Butler Products.
Survivors include: brother, Bill Williams, Cynthiana, Ky., sisters, Nora Grifford, Newport, Ky., Bessie Shoemaker, Butler, Ky., special niece, Anna Marie Dransman, Lebanon, Ohio, several other nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Thursday, July 22 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky. Special music was provided by Adrian Williams.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.

 

Brian Pearson, 32, Newport

Brian Jay Pearson, 32, of Newport, Ky., passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital. He was a cook at the Syndicate Restaurant in Newport, Ky.
Survivors include: wife, Janie, mother, Sheila Seward, New-port, Ky., daughters, Gabrielle Shaw and Brandi Pearson both of Newport, Ky., sons, Brian Pearson Jr., Tyler Pearson, and Brian Clark all of Newport, Ky., brothers, John, Mark, James, and Ray Pearson all of Newport, Ky., and Randall Shaw of Newport, Ky., sisters, Cara Faye Bush, Bellevue, Ky., Rosetta Shaw, Newport, Ky.
Services were held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at The Trinity Baptist Church, Newport, Ky.
The Cooper Funeral Home Grants Lick, Ky., were in charge of the arrangements.

 

Ruth A. Crouch, 68, Florida

Ruth A. Crouch, 68, of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Northern, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004, at her home. She was a registered nurse, a graduate of St. Elizabeth Nursing College, Covington, and formerly active in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, Ky. She leaves several cousins.
Graveside services were held on July 24, 2004, at the Pythian Grove Cemetery in Berry, Ky., officiated by Rev. Donna Jones.
Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, Ky., served the family.

 

James Davis, 89, Wilder

James Davis, 89, of Wilder, Ky., passed away at his residence on Thursday, July 15, 2004. He was a self employed landscaper, a member of The First Baptist Church of Cold Spring, Ky.
Survivors include: wife, Edna, sons, Dave Davis, Wilder, Ky., Jerry Davis, Fort Thomas, Ky., daughters, Judy Miller, Alexandria, Ky., Cathy Hiner, Earlanger, Ky., Pam Moyer, Franklin, Tenn., Debbie Vaught and Lauriella Moore both of Cold Spring, Ky., brothers, Claude Davis, Jonesville, Virginia, Paul Davis, Rose Hill, Virginia, sister, Jean Hatfield, Jonesville, Virginia, twenty-five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, July 19, 2004 at The Silver Leaf Baptist Church, Rose Hill, Virginia.
Interment took place in The Silver Leaf Baptist Church Cemetery, Rose Hill, Virginia.
The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky., was in charge of the arrangements.

 

Kelly Allphin Spaw, 32, Ohio

Kelly Sue Allphin (NEE) Spaw, 32, of Ohio, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2004. She was a homemaker. The beloved wife of Richard, loving mother of Mindy and Richard Allphin. Beloved daughter of Patty Kelly, grandaughter of Bob Singleton, Harold and Stella Spaw. Beloved sister of Nicole Hensley and Kenneth Spaw.
Services were held on Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at Cooper Funeral Home.
Interment took place in the Spring Grove Cemetery, Cin-cinnati, Ohio.

 

Anna Noertker, 93, Persimmon Grove

Anna Margaret Siry Noertker, 93, of Persimmon Grove, Ky., passed away on July 18, 2004 at the St. Luke Hospital, East, Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was a retired teacher, a member of Persim-mon Grove Baptist, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, former Choir Director, taught Vacation Bible School, Home-maker’s Senior Citizen’s Group, W.M.U. She was a member of the Ky Farm Bureau and served as a volunteer with the Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kiser Noertker and brother, Cornelius Siry.
Survivors include: daughter, Marcia Jaye Neltner, Persim-mon Grove, Ky., son, Lloyd Kiser Noertker, Persimmon Grove, Ky., four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held on July 22, 2004 at Persimmon Grove Baptist Church.
Interment took place in the Persimmon Grove Chruch Cemetery, Persimmon Grove, Ky.

Virginia Shotwell, 82, Falmouth

Virginia Shotwell, 82, of Falmouth, passed away on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 at the St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Born on October 10, 1921, she was a daughter of the late William and Mable Hill Young. She married Leonard “Red” Shotwell, and her husband preceded her in death in December, 1977. She was a graduate of Morgan High Sch-ool and Morehead State Univer-sity. She taught 15 years at Butler High School, 18 Years at Falmouth High School, and 13 years at Southern Elementary in Falmouth. She was a past president of Falmouth Woman’s club, member of the Pendleton Cou-nty Literacy Council, 6 year reading tutor, past president of Butler P.T.A., and wrote several children’s books and pageants for school and church programs. She was a member of Morgan Christian Church since 1937, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School.
Services were held on Friday, July 30, 2004 at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Rev. Ed Salerno officiating. Music was shared by Adarin Williams. Pallbearers for the service were Randy God-man, Jimmy Godman, Stephen Salerno, Bob Pettit, Bobby Joe Pettit, and Sonny Wilson.
Interment took place in the Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County, Ky.

 

Janet Abbott, 64, North Carolina

Janet Lou Elliott Abbott, 64, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away peacefully at her residence on July 7, 2004. She was born on November 15, 1939 in Fal-mouth, Ky., and was the daughter of Etnae Jenkins and the late Leon Elliott. She had been married to her husband, Doug Abbott, for 39 years, celebrating their anniversary on June 15, 2004.
Survivors in addition to her mother and husband include: son, Dwight, (Cindy) Beagle, Supply, N.C., daughters: Gaye, (Gerald) Locklear, Maxton, N.C., Melody (Keith) Hansen, Laurinburg, N.C., Kandy Taylor and Angelia Galligan both of Laurinburg, N.C., sisters, Shir-ley Emmert, Mainville, Ohio, Peggy (Lee) Stacy, Covington, Ky., brothers, Charles (Donna) Elliott,Falmouth, Ky., Gary (Tina) Elliott, Hudson, Fla., grandchildren, Eric and Joey Beagle, Connie and Dennie Lo-cklear, Tiffany Hansen, Buddy, Barbara and Liz Taylor, Crystal and Christopher Calligan; three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a large spiritual family to large to name individually.
A Memorial Service was held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Charlotte, N.C.

 

Wilfred McNay, 89, California

Wilfred Lee McNay, 89, of Hemet, Calif., passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, in Hemet, Calif. Wilfred (Mac) was born on January 8, 1915 in Pendleton County, son of the late Homer T. and Fronie Wilson McNay. He was a member of the Falmouth Christian Church. Mac delivered piece work to the Garment Factory at 211 Park St., Falmouth as his first em-ployment. He often spoke of his mother’s banana cakes and the brunst sugar pies made in the black skillets. His first dreams of traveling to Calif. were vivid when a student presented an oral essay about the palm trees and picturesque ideal weather in Mrs. Carrier’s class.
Mac and a friend, Frank Dunstall drove to Calif. in 1933, working at the Kobec Roofing Co. on Sunset Boulevard and later leasing a 24 hr. garage/service station. They returned to Falmouth in 1936. Mac and another friend, Russ Ballinger were employed with United Cigar Co., 5th & Walnut Sts., Cin. With the complications of employment following the ‘37 flood, Mac and Max Goldberg left for Arizona and California. Max returned to Falmouth while Mac stayed on in Phoenix working at Walgreens. He fashioned various employments from tool companies, experimental mec-hanic and carpenter. On August 27, 1947, Wilfred and Betty Fairman were united in marriage and she preceded him in death on July 13, 2001. He was the Chief of Operations at California Institute of Techno-logy in Pasadena, 1951-1974.
After Mac’s retirement they returned to Kentucky for a short time and returned to live briefly in San Gabriel, Calif. Betty and Wilfred lived the past 30 plus years in Hemet, Calif. Mac’s sister Dorothy Mae Caldwell also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: several nieces and nephews: Karen Barker, Kenny Buckley, Steve Buckley, Pam Clark and Dora Helen Fields of Falmouth; and Jim Buckley of Cold Spring, friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 6, 1-2 p.m. under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Graveside funeral afterwards at the Butler Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Falmouth Christian Church, 303 W. Shelby St., Falmouth, KY 41040, or a personal choice.

Kenneth Kenner, 77, Williamstown

C. Kenneth Kenner, 77, of Williamstown, Ky., passed away on August 1, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Med. Center, Grant Co., Williamstown, Ky. He was born on June 19, 1927 in Morgan, Ky. He was retired from Cincinnati Bell in 1989 after more than 40 years as Central Office Supervisor, he was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, a member and deacon of the Williamstown Baptist Church, former Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superinten-dent, former member of the Finance Committee and former Trustee, present active member of the Super Seniors. Served 8 years on the Williamstown Board of Education, and as Chairman of the Williamstown Board of Adjustments, former announcer for the Grant County Fair Horse Shows for over 20 years, Auctioneer with Grant County Real Estate and Auction Company. He served in the US Army during World Ward II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph R. and Verda Mitts Kenner.
Survivors include: wife, Willena (Scroggins) Kenner, Williamstown, Ky., daughters, Patsy Kenner, Erlanger, Ky., Carol (Kenner) Souder, Willi-amstown, Ky., sons, Rodney Kenner, Florence, Ky., Dennis and Douglas Kenner, both of Williamstown, Ky., brother, Ke-ith Kenner, Williamstown, Ky., eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 from 4-8 p.m. at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on August 4, 2004 at the Funeral Home with Rev. James P. Craigmyle officiating and assisted by Rev. Steve Rice.
Interment will take place in the Williamstown Cemetery, Williamstown, Ky.

Christopher Kneup, 65, Latonia

Christopher H. Kneup, 65, of Latonia, passed away on July 27, 2004 at the St. Elizabeth Hospital North in Covington, Ky. Chris was born in Covington, Ky., on October 5, 1938 to the late Herman and Stella Primz Kneup. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Taylor Mill, Ky. He married Betty Crout Kneup in 1961 and she survives his passing. He was preceded in death by his brother William “Bill” Kneup.
Additional survivors include: Several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on August 2 at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, August 3.
Interment took place in the Evergreen Cemetery.

 

William Stewart, 23, Newport

William Eric Stewart, 23 of Newport, Ky., passed away on July 25, 2004 at his residence. He was a tree trimmer for Asplundh, Lebanon, Ohio.

Tyler Hargett, 16, Augusta

Tyler Ross Hargett, 16, of Augusta, Ky., passed away on July 30, 2004 from an automobile accident on Hwy Old 19 in Bracken County. He was born on January 20, 1988 in Mason, County. The son of Gregory W. and Rebecca A. Hargett of Augusta, Ky. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Bill Hargett. He was a member of North American Hunting Club, NRA, Big Shots of 4-H, Jr. Bowling League, St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Survivors include: grandparents, Roger and Ann White, Mary Margarett Hargett, sister, Mary Hargett, Brooksville, Ky., nephew, James Kaiden Benedict.
Services were held on August 2, 2004 at St. Augustine Cat-holic Church under the direction of Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Augusta, Ky.
Interment took place in the Lenoxburg Cemetery, Lenox-burg, Ky.

Lillie Miller, 65, Dayton

Lillie Mae Miller, 65, of Dayton, Ky., passed away on July 28, 2004 at The St. Luke East Hospital, Fort Thomas, Ky. She was a employee of the Metal Craft Co., Erlanger, Ky. She was the wife of the late Roy Miller who died in 1998.
Survivors include: daughters, Bertha Reckley, Ft. Thomas, Ky., Doris Brown, Covington, Ky., step daughters, Tammy Hedges, Florence, Ky., Donna Miller, Geo-rgia, Angela Miller, Covington, Ky., sons, Donald York, Coving-ton, Ky., Jerry Hollingsworth, Hebron, Ky., brothers, Berlie Couch, Hebron, Ky., Eugene Couch, Cold Spring, Ky, Willie Couch, Melbourne, Ky., sisters, Bonnie Smith, Newport, Ky., Linda Simms, Dayton, Ky. L.B. Collinsworth, 66, Missouri

L. B. Collinsworth, 66, of Rolla, Mo., formerly of Morgan, in Pendleton County, Ky., passed away on August 5, 2004 ath the Phelps County Hospital in Rolla, Mo. He was born on June 3, 1938, the son of the late Beecher and Fannie Dyer Collinsworth. He was a heavy equipment operator and a member of the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Joan Collinsworth and one sister, Jewell Eibeck of Falmouth.
Graveside services were held on August 8, at the Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County, Ky. Casket bearers were Ron Trasher, Tommy Turner, Johnny Tracker, James Scudder, Steve Jackson and Roger Jackson.
American Legion Post #109, V.F.W. Post #1978 and D.A.V. Post held full military honors for Mr. Collinsworth on August 8 at the Morgan Cemetery officiated by Chaplain Shelby McDowell. To Mr. Collinsworth we honor and salute you, to the family we offer our sympathy. American Legion Post #109, V.F.W. Post #1978, and D.A.V. members present were Ray Hammond, Shelby McDowell, Jim Sharp, Paul Florance, Wallace Brown-ing, Bruce Westbrook, Charles Biddle, Jonathan Smith, Joe Wolfe, Tom Luckey, Lytle Houston, Bob Gulick, Larry Fields, Bill Ashcraft, Steve Lonaker, James Holey, Jim Morton, James Priest, Billy Newman, Dan Woodhead, Sam Hodge, Dennis Conner, Eddie Connor, Todd McCalla, Roger Nowman, Donnie Wells and Melbourne Angell.
Taps was played by Sam Hodge, Another Veteran was laid to rest.

Dorothy Bickel, 84, of California, Ky., passed away on August 8, 2004 at St. Luke Hospita, East, Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born on April 26, 1920 in Breathitt County, the daughter of the late Ben and Jane McPherson Hatton. She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Bickel.
Survivors include her sons, Dennis Woods, Woodford, Va., Norman Bickel, Triangle, Va., Roy Bickel, California, Ky., Edward Bickel, Bellevue, Ky., James Bickel, Highland Heights, Ky., and eleven grandchildren.
Visitation will take place on Wdenesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth.
Services are private, and at the convenience of the family.
Interment will take place in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

 

Dorothy Bickel, 84, California

Dorothy Bickel, 84, of California, Ky., passed away on August 8, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital, East, Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born on April 26, 1920 in Breathitt County, the daughter of the late Ben and Jane McPherson Hatton. She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe Bickel.

Ralph Parnell, Sr., 94, Melbourne

Ralph J. Parnell, Sr., 94, of Melbourne, Ky., passed away on August 8, 2004 at his home. He was a retired Core maker with Cincinnati Milacron, a member of Glenwood Baptist Church, Falmouth, Ky., treasurer at the church from 1977-Present and was married for 70 years to Katherine M. Huebner Parnell and she survives his passing. He was preceded in death by his daughter JoAnn Strange, and two brothers, Charles and Thomas Parnell.
Additional survivors include, sons, Ralph Parnell, Jr., Melbourne, Ky., Terry Parnell, Falmouth, Ky., Russell Parnell, Cincinnati, Ohio, daughters, Judy Strange and Jennifer Hayes both of Ft. Thomas, Ky., sister, Emma Huebner, Cold Spring, Ky., eighteen grandchildren and thirty five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, at the Alexandria Funeral Home, 325 Washington St. Alexandria, Ky. and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday August 11, at Glen-wood Baptist Church, Fal-mouth, Ky.
Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Fa-lmouth, Ky.

Aileene Earle, 87, of Tamarack, Florida, formerly of Berry, passed away on August 8, at University Hospital in Tamarack. Arrangements are pending with the Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry.

 

Aleene Earle, 87, Florida

Aleene Perkins Earle, 87, of Tamarack, Fla., formerly of Lakeside Park, and Berry, Ky., passed away on August 8, 2004 at the University Hospital in Tamarack, Fla. She was born in Pendleton County, daughter of the late Theodochia Pollard and Rinaldo Perkins. On January 1, 1934 she married Jack Earle, and her husband preceded her in death on April 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her daughter J. Gayle Kissinger.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Leslie Kissinger, Jeffrey Kissinger, and two great-grandchildren, Sean and Connor Patesel.
Services were held on August 14 at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Berry, Ky., Rev. Larry Lee Jones officiated
Interment took place in the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Berry, Ky.

Bradford Piner, 90, Alexandria

Bradford H. Piner, 90, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on August 9, 2004 at his residence. He was a retired supervisor for Ford Motor Co., member of Masonic Lodge of Hyde Park, WW2 Air Force Veteran. He loved hunting and could fix anything. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnetta Fay Piner in 1998.

Nancy Eckler, 63, of Williamstown, Ky., passed away on August 12, 2004 at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Ky. She was born on November 29, 1940 in Knox Co., Ky., a member of Williamstown Baptist Church, Williamstown Wom-an’s Club, Carlsbad Garden Club, and the Grant County Hospital Board, former recording secretary of the Williams-town Baptist Church. She was a County Extension Agent for Home Economics with the University of Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Carrie Faulkner Campbell.
Survivors include: husband, Jack Eckler,Williamstown, Ky., sons, Daniel Eckler, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., John Eckler, Dry Ridge, Ky., sisters, Mary Sue Campbell, Bardstown, Ky., Laura Jean Jackson, Woodbine, Ky., and three grandchildren.

Edwin King, 76, Harrodsburg

Edwin E. King, 76, of Burgin Road, Harrodsburg, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born on December 31, 1927 in Falmouth, Ky., to the late Audrey and Fannie McKinney King. He was a World War II Army Veteran, and a 1950 graduate of the University of Kentucky, a retired Soil conservationist, having served Mercer and Boyle counties, and was also a farmer. He attended the Bohon Christian Church; however his membership remained at the Oakland Christian Church in Pendleton County.
He was preceded in death by his brothers; Homer, Langley, Melvin, Estill and Herbet, and a sister, Elsie.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Mary Roberts King, daughters, Judith Peach (Richard), Versailles, Ky., Susan Hunt (Tony), Danville, Ky., and five grandchildren.
Services were held on August 17, 2004 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Bros. Leonard Price and Jim Terry officiating.
Active pallbearers were Roger, Ricky, and Jerome King, Will Browning, Charlie Baker, and Jimmy Howard. Honorary bearers were James Ellis, John Tuggle, and Jimmy Keller.

Herschel Spegal, 91, DeMossville

Herschel Spegal, 91, of DeMossville, Ky., passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, Ky. Herschel was born in Pendleton County on May 12, 1913, the son of the late Clarence and Molly Spegal. He was a farmer, a member of Carters Chapel Methodist Church, a WWII Army Veteran and received 3 bronze stars, he served in the South Pacific for 2 years. He married Carolyn Polline Menefee and she passed away on June 13, 1971. He was also preceded in death by his sister Helen Louise Spegal.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Miller, DeMossville, Ky., step-daughter, Karen Gibson, Grove City, Ohio, sister, Norma Lucille Stephenson, Knoxville, Tenn., grandson, Raymond Paul Tucker and two step-grandsons, Jason and Brad Gibson.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on August 25, 2004 at the Funeral Home.

Todd Merle Walton, 43, of DeMossville, Ky., passed away on August 21, 2004 at St. Luke East Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Todd was born in Saginaw, Michigan on April 26, 1961, he is the son of Larry and Sherry Walton. He was a member of Grassy Creek Christian Church, Marine Veteran, former E.M.T. and Piner volunteer fire department, and Camp North-ward volunteer in the summer time, former Sunday School teacher and youth leader at Grassy Creek Christian Church, employed by NKU Steely Library. He married Janet Fenhoff Walton of DeMossville, Ky., on February 16, 1991 and she survives his passing.

Harriet Belle Fuller, 75, of Augusta, Ky., passed away on August 21, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital, Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was born on September 11, 1928, the daughter of the late William and Ida Maye (Ketchum) Riggs. She was a homemaker, she married Will-iam Tony Fuller on July 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on November 17, 1993, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Ty, Albert and Bill Riggs, sisters, Florine Pennington and Betty Riggs.

Fenton R. Miles, 83, retired farmer of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on August 19, 2004, at the Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana, Ky. He was born on September 1, 1920 in Pendleton County, Ky. Fenton was a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church, Harrison County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Amanda King Miles and three brothers, Charlie, Howard, and Raymond Miles.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Norma Anderson Miles, daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Tommy Milner, two grandchildren, Bradley Milner and Rebecca Milner, and his brother, Shelby Miles, all of Falmouth.

Theresa Morton Meinze, 75, of Maple Street, Stanton, formerly of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on August 26, 2004 at her home. Born on April 24, 1929, in Powell County, Ky., the daughter of the late Clyde B. and Isa Ewen Morton. She was a longtime employee of the Whitaker Bank-Powell County and also served as Administra-tive Assistant to Powell County Farm Bureau. Prior to her return to Stanton, she lived in Alex-andria, Ky., where she was an employee of the Campbell Co-unty Farm Bureau, a member of the Stanton Christian Church and the Daughters of the Amer-ican Revolution. She was preceded in death by her former husband: William Meinze, Sr.

Janice Faye Snell, 56, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away on August 24, 2004 at the Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland. Born on July 20, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Isaac Ramsburg and Alice Paynter Ramsburg Murphy.
She is survived by three daughters: Pauletta R. Stroop, and Katherine L. Burris, both of Hagerstown, Md., and Kim-berly Faye Snell of Clear Springs, Md., sons, Paul R. Burris II and Jerry C. Stroop, both of Hagerstown, Md., and Johnny E. Stroop, Cleveland, Ohio, brother, Robert Murphy and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Dunn was born on July 28, 1936, the daughter of Floyd and Mary Duncan, she was a nurse. She married Robert Dunn on July 3, 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1979.

Clarice was born in Pendleton County on February 14, 1916 the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Nora Vastine Stahl. She was retired from Pan American Airlines after 15 years, a member of the Hollywood Florida Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Michael Fronk and brothers Donald and Raymond Stahl.
Survivors include: brothers, Herman Stahl, Ft. Wayne, Ind., Leo Dale Stahl, Morningview, Ky., Gene Stahl, DeMossville, Ky., sister, Mona Faye Crowley, Ft. Mitchell, Ky., and several nieces and nephews.

Beulah Lambert, 87, of Butler, Ky., passed away on August 31, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital, Ft. Thomas, Ky. Mrs. Lambert was born in California, Ky., on Sept. 1, 1916, the daughter of the late Albert and Ida Macarthel Ihrig. She was a machinist at J.H. Lambert Manufacturing in Butler, Ky., past president of Butler Lions Club, former owner of the Butler Restaurant, former Pink Lady and Oldies but Goodies Band in Kingman Ariz., Ky. Colonel, avid golfer, housekeeper and was a member of St. Patricks Church for 14 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Lambert, brothers, Galen and Kenneth Ihrig and her daughter Linda Dyer.

Linus Schack, 63, California

Linus M. Schack, 63, of California, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2004 at his home. Mr. Schack was a retired farmer and had probably missed only one Alexandria Fair and Horse Show in his 63 years, he really liked the idea of putting on a county fair and having lots of attractions, said his wife Mary Jane Schack. He was a quite person who loved seeing people having a good time, she said. About 20 years ago, he started working with the fair board, which is formally called the Campbell County Agricul-tural Society.
A few years later he became a director, then president and later vice president, he also served on the horse show committee of the Kentucky Association of Fairs and Horses. Although he never showed horses himself, he went to many shows with his son Jim Schack, who started showing them about 14 years ago, some of his grandchildren show them too. Mr. Schack drove a concrete truck for LN Concrete Materials in Erlanger for more than 30 years before his retirement in 2002.
A member of Sts. Peter and Paul parish in California, he also belonged to a Catholic benevolence organization, the Catholic Order of Foresters.
He grew up on a farm in the Twelve Mile community and, when he married, he and his wife built a house on the same farm, where they have lived ever since. Their four children all live within half a mile of them.
Survivors include, his wife Mary Jane Schack, daughters, Jennifer Holtz and Laura Richardson, both of California, sons, Jim and Mike Schack, both of California, brother, Clarence Schack, California, sisters, Melva Rohe and Lorraine Witschger, both of Cincinnati, Irma Schadler and Evelyn Wolfzorn, both of Alexandria, and Esther Schack of Southgate, and thirteen grandchildren.
A brother, Cletus Schack, preceded him in death in 1982.
Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 8, 2004 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, California, Ky., under the direction of Alexandria Funeral Home.
Interment took place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, California.

William Moore, 83, Falmouth

Fred William (Bill) Moore, 83, of Fal-mouth, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2004. He was born on July 25, 1921, son of the late Claude and Grace Ruby Moore. On May 1, 1948, he married Bonnie Love-lace, and his dear wife survives his passing. He was a veteran of the United States Navy in World War II, and a member of Roa-noke Christian Church; where he served as a deacon for many years. He was retired from Mid-state Motor Freight in Cincin-nati, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Russell Moore, Floyd Moore, and 1 grandson; Adam Messmer.
In addition to his wife Bonnie, he is survived by three children; Rodney Moore of Falmouth, Ky., Dean Moore of Goose Creek, S.C., and Joan Messmer of Alexandria, Ky., brothers; Randall Moore, Elwood Moore, and sister; Wanda Jenkins, grandchildren; Kelly Staten, Robin Moore, Ryan Moore, Kristen Messmer, Amanda Moore, and great-grandchild; Kacie Staten.
Funeral services were held at 11a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Roanoke Chris-tian Church in Pendleton Co-unty, with Bro. Ray Chihak officiating. Music was shared by Becky Fogle and Judy Spencer. Pallbearers for the service were Donnie Moore, Rick Moore, Keith Moore, Brent Moore, Ryan Moore.
Interment with full military honors by American Legion Post #109, V.F.W. Post #1978 and D.A.V. Post members followed in the Morgan Cemetery, Pendleton County. To Mr. Moore we honor and salute you. Sheila Gail Slocum, 48, of DeMossville, Ky., passed away on Saturday, September, 11, 2004 at her home. Sheila was born on April 23, 1956 in Kenton County, Ky., she was the daughter of Evelyn Marie Dugger Griffin and the late Coburn R. “Bennie” Griffin. She graduated from Pendleton High School Class of 1974, she attended the DeMossville Baptist Church in Pendleton County. She married Richard Hammond Slocum on September 5, 1987 and her dear husband survives her passing. She worked as a floor assistant with Wal-Mart in Alexandria, Ky.
In addition to her husband, Richard Slocum, and her mother Evelyn Marie Dugger Griffin of DeMossville, she is survived by her daughter, Carlee Slocum, DeMossville, and two sisters, Carolyn Hughes, DeMossville, Ky., Norma Hughes, Scottsboro, Alabama.

She was a retired employee of the former Bi-Rite supermarket in Falmouth, and the Southern Elementary School cafeteria, Falmouth. She was a member of the Trinity Southern Baptist Church in Falmouth.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chester Blades on March 2, 1988, her son, Chester Lee Blades on August 28, 1961, and brothers, Kenzie Richard Bishop and Clarence Bishop Jr.
Survivors include: daughters, Edna (Wayne) Turley, Cynthi-ana, Ky., Linda (Bill) Fooks, Paris, Ky., four grandchildren, Marilyn (Tommy) Fryman, Kevin Merrill, Joe (Cindy) Fo-oks and Whitney Fooks, three great-grandchildren, Gretchen Merrill, Jake and Ben Fooks, and two sister-in-laws, Virginia Cummins and Temple Bishop.
Services were held on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Dale Bobb and Bro. Marvin Keane officiating. Adarin Williams offered beautiful music. Pallbearers we-re Kevin Merrill, Joe Fooks, Randy Bishop, Jeremy Barlow, L.T. Varner and Joey Bishop.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.

Jerry Craddock, 57, Covington

Jerry Franklin Craddock, 57, of Cov-ington, Ky., formerly of Falmouth, passed away on Monday, September 13, 2004, at his home. Born on May 16, 1947 in Falmouth, Ky., he was the son of the late William and Jewell Ramsey Craddock. He graduated from Falmouth High School in 1965, and he served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. He worked with Covington Community Action. He was also a member of the Hardin-Browning Post #109.
Survivors include, daughter, Monica Jean Hamm, Cynthiana, Ky., sons, Jerry Wade Craddock and Timothy Wade Craddock, both of Cynthiana, Ky., five grandchildren, Ashli, Lynnzie, Zachary and Kasey Craddock, and William Simpson, four sisters, Freida Perkins, Alta Hamliton, Betty Hodge and Connie Craddock, all of Falmouth, Ky.
Services were held on Thursday, September 16, 2004, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. James Fields officiating. Serving as pallbearers were James Hamilton, L.T. Varner, Matt Yazell, Paul Hamm, Ron Wilfong, and Rodney Grubb.

Cora Schlueter, 95, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky., she was born in DeMossville, Ky., on January 7, 1909, she was a member of the Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church, Peach Grove, Ky., and a member of the Pendleton County Senior Citi-zens. She married Alex Sch-lueter on July 15, 1924 and he preceded her in death along with her son Earl Winston, daughter Wilma Schlueter, and granddaughter Sue Layne Schlueter.
Survivors include: son, Ralph Schlueter, California, Ky., Randall Schlueter, Butler, Ky., daughter, Beulah Elrod, Foster, Ky., nine grandchildren, Phyllis Kelsch, Rick (Judy) Elrod, Roger Schlueter, Steve (Jenny) Schlueter, Lori (Joe) Sharrow, Kenny (Karen) Schlueter, Karen (Allen) Wolfe, Vickie Teegar-den, and Pam Mains, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and many half brothers and sisters.

Lois Olson, 76, Fayette

Lois A. Olson, 76, of Fayette, formerly of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2004, at the Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, from complications following surg-ery. She was born on April 28, 1928, the daughter of Herschel and Erma Rankin King and married Clifford M. Olson in Cedar Rapids in 1983. She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Kathleen King.
Survivors include, her husband Clifford, sons, James Swalley of San Diego and Dean Swalley of Cedar Rapids, daughters, Linda Barnard, Mea-dville, Pa., Christina Swalley, Cedar Rapids, stepsons, Layton Olson, Coralville and Gary Olson, Cedar Rapids, sister, Janet Faaborg, Rockport, Texas.

Ada Allender Bishop, 84, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at her residence. She was born on December 2, 1919, a daughter of the late Carl and Kathleen Routt Allender. She married Raymond Bishop in 1939, and he preceded her in death on January 2, 1989. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry L. Bishop on January 13, 1990. She was a retired worker for Falmouth Sewing Factory and Dr. Scholls in Falmouth, Ky., a member of the Flagg Springs Baptist Church in Campbell County.

Merrell Winkle, 71, Falmouth

Merrell. L. Winkle, 71, of Falmouth, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2004, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on February 17, 1933 in Harrison County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Elza and Mamie Parrish Frederick. She married Lawrence Winkle on December 23, 1948 and her dear husband preceded her in death on April 8, 1996. She has worked in various jobs in housecleaning and farming throughout her life. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Danayal Owens and Shirley Owens Cutlip.
Survivors include, children, Leona (Danny) Owens of Falmouth, Ky., Lillie (Danny) Mickles of Birchfield, Virginia, and Jeff (Tracy) Winkle of Berry, Ky.; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Winkle of Carrollton, Ky., and Florencie Tucker of Dayton, Ky., and one brother, Donald Frederick of Falmouth, Ky.
Casket Bearers were Daniel Michaels, Randy Traylor, James Winkle, Kenny Winkle, Kenny Hammonds, Archie Caudill and David Winkle.
Services were held on Sunday, September 19, 2004, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Jonathan Smith officiating.

Raymond Johnson, 88, Bellevue

Raymond Johnson, 88 of Bellevue, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at The St. Luke East Hospital, Fort Thomas, Ky. He was born on December 19, 1915, to Clara and Merritt Johnson in Foster, Ky., he lived and farmed the family farm in Bracken County along with his father. At age 25 he married Lovace Nichols, of Augusta, Ky., and they had two sons, Earl Louis and Raymond Louis Johnson, Jr. He was preceded in death by his wife and two sons.
He was a Tool and Die Maker for Trailmobile, Cincinnati, Ohio, he was chief union steward for many years. When Trailmobile moved their operations to Texas in the early 1960’s, Ray and Lovace started an antique business. They both enjoyed this very much and made many wonderful friends. Ray continued this business until 2003. He was also self-employed in a very busy repair business. Ray loved to travel and for many years and spent winters in Florida. In later years he took trips with a dear friend to Alaska, Hawaii, and Las Vegas. He also enjoyed a few Cari-bbean cruises. Ray was the oldest living member of The Cemetery Chapel Christian Church. He often told the family that he was baptized at age 14 in the Ohio River. He also was a Kentucky Colonel. Family was important to Ray, he enjoyed spending time with his two granddaughters, Cynthia Lynne Kraft and Jennifer Louise Jody, and their families. His two great-grandsons, Zachary and Trevor Kraft, also enjoyed being with “Pop”.

Dr. Daniel Louis Storer, 59, of Falmouth,

Dr. Daniel Louis Storer, 59, of Fa-lmouth, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, Se-ptember 21, 2004, at University Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on February 8, 1945, the son of Mabel Henize Storer and the late Jesse Storer. He graduated from Miami Univer-sity in 1967 and from the University of Cincinnati Med-ical School in 1971.He served two years in the United States Air Force (1971-1973) before beginning a long and distinguished career as an emergency medicine physician, which included teaching and supervising paramedics at University Hospital. He was the first medical director over the University Hospital Air Care program and he made time to personally attend to patients being transported. He married Barbara Dickison on October 12, 1991, and his dear wife survives his passing.
Throughout his many years of service he received numerous awards: the EMS Spirit of Excellence Lifetime Achieve-ment Award from University Hospital and Children’s Hos-pital, the Outstanding Cont-ributions to EMS Award, the American College of Emer-gency Physicians American Heart Association Award, the Ohio Affiliate Distinguished Achievement Award, the Bill Hall Award, the Outstanding Service Award for the American College of Emergency Physi-cians, and the Oscar Schmidt Public Service Award for the University of Cincinnati.
Most recently, on May 21, 2003, Dr. Storer was awarded the Scott Frame, M.D.F.A.C.S. Trauma and Emergency Medi-cal Care Award for his establishment of a “quality-driven” pre-hospital care delivery system for the citizens of the Tri-State area. He served on a national committee to provide leadership to the national accrediting organization for paramedic training programs. He was a member of the National Registry for Emer-gency Medical Technicians and several other national and state organizations.
Dr. Storer’s passion for emergency medicine was sparked at an early age, as he stated in an interview with Falmouth Out-look Editor, Debbie Dennie, in 2003, “My interest in the medical field started off with my being an EMT during my high school years.” He dedicated his life to emergency medicine, and even in semi-retirement, he continued to teach students at Uni-versity Hospital. Additionally, he served as medical director for several different fire departments in the Cincinnati area. Dr. Storer had been involved in educational classes in Pendleton County, where he currently served as the Emergency Med-ical Coordinator. He was instrumental in establishing the Uni-versity Air Care program at University Hospital in Cincin-nati. He was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church and Falmouth Rotary Club.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Dickison, he leaves two sons, Timothy J. (Diane) Storer, M.D. of Columbus, Ohio and Douglas M. Storer of Dayton, Ohio, his mother Mabel Storer, Williamsburg, Ohio, two granddaughters, Emma and Clara Storer, and his brother, Gary (Barbara) Storer, Crosby Town-ship, Ohio, his mother-in-law, Mildred Dickison, Falmouth, Ky., brother-in-law, Paul Dicki-son, Falmouth, Ky. During the visitation on Thursday, Sept-ember 23, 2004 at the Wood-head Funeral Home, Falmouth, firemen from the Union Town-ship Fire and Rescue Squad stood honor guard.
Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2004 at the Falmouth Christian Church, with Rev. Anne Klein-schmidt and Lee Cruz officiating. Special music was shared by David White accompanied by Ruth White, both of Williamsburg United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, Ohio. The pallbearers were Paul Dickison, Roger Anderson, Kenny Ballein, Dr. Ray Ring-enbach, Jim Rutenschroer, and Stau Beimling. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Howard Hoess, Don Albasin, and members of the Falmouth Rotary Club. The Union Township Fire Rescue Squad and members of Dr. Storer’s flight crew stood honor guard at the funeral service throughout the procession to the cemetery. Marvin Sulli-van and Edwin Hall drove a horse-drawn wagon leading this procession on Maple Avenue to Riverside Cemetery, where full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109 and final interment took place. American Legion Post #109, V.F.W. Post #1978 and D.A.V. Post members present were: Ray Hammond, Tom Luckey, Wallace Browning, Jim Sharp, Paul Florance, Jim Hammond, Charles Biddle, Joe Travella, Jerry Fields, Carl Butcher, Jonathan Smith, Billy Newman, Larry Fields, Steve Lonaker, Omer Bentle, Jim Morton, Jam-es Priest, Paul Wolfe, Henry Bertram, Roger Nowman, Donnie Wells, Charles Lemmons, James Haley, Richard Colvin, Denny Stahl, Shelby McDowell and Dan Woodhead.

Leaming Thomas, 89, Brooksville

Leaming Thomas, 89, of Brooksville, Ky., passed away on Thursday, September, 23, 2004 at Meadowview Regional Hospital in Maysville, Ky. He was born on June 13, 1915 in Bracken County, the son of the late Jesse Thomas and Gertrude (Downard) Thomas. He was a member of the Willow Baptist Church, and a farmer. He married Irene (McDowell) Thomas on April 23, 1932 and she preceded him in death on August 11, 2000, he was also preceded in death by his son-in-law, Johnny A. Perkins, on February 22, 2000, and granddaughter Belinda Perkins, on October 12, 1957.
Survivors include: daughter, Neva Sue Perkins, Foster, Ky.
Services were held on Sunday, September 26, 2004 at Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville, Ky.
Interment took place in the Neave Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.

Jarvis Parsley, 94, Brooksville

Jarvis Parsley, 94, of Brooksville, passed away on Tuesday, September 7 at his home. While a resident of Brooksville, he and his wife came in 1941 and established residence until their death. The son of the late Lewis and Sally Overbay Parsley, he was born on October 5, 1909. He married Zada Parsley on November 19, 1932 and she preceded him in death. The Parsleys came to Bracken County as educators and Coach and spend many decades to thousands of students, parents, and citizens of that area. Coming to Bracken County in 1941-42, Mr. Parsley became Principal of elementary and high school from 1943 until his retirement in 1947.
His greatest love was “basketball” to which he devoted 26 years compiling an exceptional record. In 1944 he was named “Coach of the year,” having a record of winning 67 percent of all games coaches. The coaching for 26 years made him acknowledged across the state. The late Adolph Rupp of the University of Kentucky was a personal friend and often was asked for recommendation of players. Mr. Parsley will be long remembered by scores for his devotion to education in Bracken County and his coaching of one of Bracken’s and the state’s finest basketball programs.
He and his wife leave behind a beloved niece, Susan Moore of Lexington, Ky., nephew Pete Parsley, New York, three sisters, Ruby Redman, Rhode Island, Louise Schmidt, Ohio and Mary Moses Kirk, California.
Special caregivers of Mr. Parsley were Jeannie Carmack, Sherry Stringer, Cindy Early-wine, Pam Spradlen, Muzetta Norris, Crystal Earlywine and Ella Cummins.
He and his wife were members of the Brooksville Lions, KEA and the Methodist Church. Services were conducted by Eudell Hall at the funeral home.

Clinton “Pee Wee” Sydnor, 63, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Monday, September 27, 2004 at Harrison County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Sydnor was born in Pendleton County on July 1, 1941, the son of the late William and Nora Price Sydnor. He was a member of the Neave Methodist Church, retired from Queen City Chev-rolet as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry, Richard and Billy Sydnor.

William Niehaus, 74, Alexandria

William F. Niehaus, 74, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at St. Luke Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 3, 1930, the son of William and Mary Desalvo Niehaus Sr. He was a member for 30 years with Jehovah Witness, and was a self-employed carpenter. He married Betty Jane Colyer Niehaus and she survives his passing.
Additional survivors include: son, Anthony Niehaus and brother John Niehaus.

Leland Antrobus, 68, Falmouth

Leland Roscoe Antrobus, 68, of Falmouth, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2004 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Kentucky. He was the husband of Joy Whaley Antrobus.

Roscoe Antrobus, 68, Falmouth

Roscoe Antrobus, 68, of Falmouth, passed away on Monday, September 27, 2004, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Kentucky. Born on June 27, 1936, he was a son of the late Finley and Tencie Ruth Harris Antrobus. On May 25 1957, he married Joy Wha-ley; and his wife survives his passing. He was semi-retired as manager for East Pendleton Water where he has worked for 15 years. He also worked for Pendleton County Gas and Water prior to his current job. He was a member and Deacon of the Oakland Christian Church in Pendleton County.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years; Joy Antrobus, children; Tammy (Steve) Ammer-man of Falmouth, Lesha Kay Galloway of Falmouth, Jeffrey Antrobus of Florence, Thomas (Sonya) Antrobus of Falmouth, Carrie (Brad) Ammerman of Falmouth, Michael (Sonya) Ant-robus of Falmouth, grandchildren; Crystal Galloway, Step-hanie Ammerman, Mallory Ammerman, Jaimie Antrobus, Brandi Antrobus, Jared Antro-bus, Haley Antrobus, Jordan Antrobus, Hannah Ammerman, and Courtney Antrobus.He was preceded in death by 1 sister; Thelma Hutchison, and 1 brother; Clifford Antrobus.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at the Woodhead Funeral Home in Falmouth with Bro. John Byard and Bro. Larry Styles officiating. Pallbearers for the service were Michael Cummins, Greg Cummins, Jody Beagle, Charles Whaley, David Fields, and Wayne Lonaker. Honorary Pallbearers were Jordan and Jarod Antrobus, and Deacons and Elders of Oakland Christian Church. Music was shared by Michelle Faulkner, Michael Cummins accompanied by Ba-rbara Browning, and Becky Fogle.
Interment followed in the Morgan Cemetery in Pendleton County, Ky.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Dr. Mays-ville, Ky., or Camp Northward 49 Hwy 159, Falmouth, KY 41040.

 

 

Elsemarie Watson, 75, Morningview

Elsemarie Watson, 75, of Morningview, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Elizabeth South Hospital. Mrs. Watson was born in Vanceburg, Ohio on December 23, 1928, the daughter of the late Howard and Edna Vance Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of the Morn-ingview Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Watson and daughter Ellen Gamble.
Survivors include, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her son-in-law Leonard Gamble, Morningview, Ky.
Services were held on September 23, 2004 at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
Interment took place in the Butler Cemetery, under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.

Peggy Woeste, 75, California

Peggy Woeste, 75, of California, Ky., passed on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at The Thornton Hospital University of San Diego, California. Peggy and her husband Art started and owned Art’s Food Market which included dry cleaning and butcher shop for 25 years in Alexandria, Ky. Peggy then worked for The Provident Bank and worked there for 22 years. She started as a teller and worked her way up to Ass’t. VP, while at the bank she helped a lot of young couples get their start in life. After retiring in 1992, she enjoyed working in her flower gardens which was her favorite hobby, enjoying nature and spending time outdoors with her grandchildren, traveling to Florida with her husband. She took life and it’s challenges in great stride, always full of life and energy sho took great pride in her home and family, she always had a smile on her face.
Survivors include: husband, Art Woeste, sons, Garry Woeste, California, Ky., Bob Woeste, California, Ky., daughter, Marylu Steffen, Alexandria, Ky., six grandchildren, and sister Rosie Carmack, Alexandria, Ky.
Mass of Christian Burial took place on October 4, 2004 at The Sts. Peter & Paul Church, California, Ky.
Interment took place in The St.Mary’s Cemetery, Alex-andria, Ky.

Josephine Bradford, 82, Augusta

Josephine H. Bradford, 82, of Augusta, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 at her home in Augusta after an extended battle with cancer. She was born on November 3, 1921 to the late Thomas and Pearl Hupp, she was the widow of the Harold R. Bradford with whom she shared 50 years of a remarkable Christian marriage. Together they owned and operated Bradford’s Home Mart in Augusta, Kentucky for the better part of 40 years. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Bradford was a devoted member of the Baptist Church in both Augusta, Ky., and Lakeland Florida, where she spent many winters. She also enjoyed being a lifetime member of the Augusta Homemakers. She touched so many people with her kind heart, her wisdom and her beautigul gift of prayer, she will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves behind her family of two daughters, Carol Chamblee and Ellen Moore and their husbands, Bro. Richard Chamblee and Darrell Moore and grandchildren, Greg and Monica Lynch, Sasha Scribner, Heather and Jason Fields, great grandchildren, Kayla and Collin Lynch. Also two very dear friends; Mildred Hook and Ellen Pyle.
Services were held on Sunday, October 3, 2004 at the Moore & Parker Funeral Home, Augusta, Ky.

Russell “Rusty” Lippert, 38, of Newport, Ky., passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2004 in Highland Heights, Ky. He was an electrician for 4-R Electric, Southgate, Ky., a member of The Immanuel Baptist Church, Cold Spring, Ky., and a member of Asseopia, Alex-andria, Ky.
Survivors include his mother, Marjorie Schetagne and step father Guy Schetagne, Alex-andria, Ky., sisters, Deborah Miller, Penny Kaufman and Mary Steinman all of Alex-andria, Ky., brothers, Leroy Lippert Jr., Independence, Ky., Michael Lippert, Florence, Ky., Greg and Homer Lippert both of Alexandria, Ky., girlfriend, Mercedes “Lynn” Deaton, Newport, Ky.
Services were held on September 29, 2004 at The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
Interment took place in the Alexandria Cemetery, Alex-andria, Ky.

Alta L. Harrison Hickey, 81, of The Dallas, Oregon formerly of Grants Lick, Ky., passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2004 at her home in Oregon. Alta was born in Grants Lick, Ky., on June 21, 1923, the daughter of the late Albert Homer and Nora S. Schnorr Harrison. She was a restaurant cook. She was preceded in death by her brother John F. Harrison and sister Anna May Randall and Julia Britton.
Survivors include, sons, Charles E. Jenkins III, and John E. Fisher both of Blanchester, Ohio, daughters Joy E. Eckart, Hood River, Oregon, Sandra Ann Schertenlied, The Dallas, Oregon, brother Jack Harrison, Wilmington, Ohio, sisters, Scarlett Fern Harrison, Grace Randall and E. Jean Glover, all of Alexandria, Ky., Ruth Trapp, Newport, Ky., Emma Moore, California, Ky., seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, October 8, 2004 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
Interment took place in the Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick, Ky.

Christine Fields Way, 96, of Ft. Thomas, Ky., formerly of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Monday, October 4, 2004 at the Carmel Manor Nursing Home in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Christine was born in Falmouth, Ky., on April 20, 1908, the daughter of the late Cliff and Cloe Bishop Fields. She was a former waitress at the Georgetown Hotel and a member of the Falmouth Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Wolfe.
Survivors include her sister Alice Blasingame, Florence, Ky., and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky.
Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.

 

 

Margaret Chandler, 60, Williamstown

Margaret West Chandler, 60 of Williamstown, passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Med. Center, Grant County. She was born on July 12, 1944 in Williamstown, Ky., the daughter of the late Paul Nicholas West, and Juanita Adams West. A member of Williamstown O.E.S. #301 Eastern Star, she was a former Mother Advisor for Eagle Assembly #50 Order of Rainbow Girls, Insurance Agent with Wethington Insur-ance Agency, Inc., Walton, Ky., for 22 years. She was an Avon Cosmetics distributor for 32 years and received many honors from Avon, a member of Willi-amstown Christian Church. She married Virgil Chandler, Sr. on June 22, 1963, and he survives her passing.
Additional survivors include: sons, Virgil Chandler, Jr., and William N. Chandler, both of Williamstown, daughter, Angie Chandler, Bradstown, Ky., eight grandchildren, living, one granddaughter, Victoria Nicole Chandler, deceased June 21, 1995, sister, Valadine Marsh, Williamstown and several nephews and nieces.
Services were held on October 2, 2004 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, Ky., with Rev. Ron Chastain officiating.
Interment took place in the Williamstown Cemetery.

Virgil C. Mann, 91, of Williamstown

Virgil C. Mann, 91, of Williamstown, Ky., passed away on Friday, October 8, 2004 at Grant Manor Care Center in Williamstown, Ky. He was born on January 30, 1913 in Fal-mouth, Ky., the son of the late Grover Mann and Mary Ruth Porter Mann, husband of the late Rosamond Florence Mann. He was an Elder for 60 years at Roanoke Christian Church.
Survivors include: sons, Ronnie Mann, Dry Ridge, Ky., Larry Mann, Crittenden, Ky., Gary Mann, Butler, Ky., daughters, Phyllis Florence, Ft. Tho-mas, Ky., Debbie McCandless, Williamstown, Ky.
Services were held at the Roanoke Christian Church on October 13, 2004, under the direction of Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, Ky.
Interment took place in the Morgan Cemetery in Pendleton County.

 

James Johnson, 58, Butler

James (Jimmie) Lee Johnson, 58, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2004. Jimmie was born in Gardnersville, Ky., on February 13, 1946, he was the son of the late Anna and Clifford Johnson. He served in the Army from 1963-1967, retired from Spade Pipeline Corporation. He married Mary Arlene Dickerson 23 years ago and she survives his passing. He was preceded in death by his brother Leroy Johnson.
Additional survivors include, daughters, Patti Johnson, Mary Beth Johnson and Shonda (Donnie) Nagel all of Butler, Ky., brothers, Walt Johnson, Berry, Ky., Larry Johnson, Lakeland, Ky., Tony Johnson, Falmouth, Ky., sisters, Brenda Fornash, Williamstown, Ky., Connie Waynerright, St. Cloud, Florida, and Mary Anglon, Winterhaven, Florida, grandchildren, Deserea and Derek Nagel both of Butler, Ky.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky., with services following at 5:30 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery under full military honors.
