Dorothy Baker, 76, Falmouth

Dorothy L. Hopper Baker, 76, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at the Cardinal Hill Acute Care Unit of the St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas after an extended illness. Born on June 9, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Elizabeth Cheeseman and Jerry Hopper. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Wayne W., her husband, Bill Baker, and three brothers, Ralph, Charles William (Bud), and Jerry Hopper. She was a dedicated, lifetime member of the former Pilgrim Holiness Church in Falmouth, where she also served as a Church Board Member and Sunday School teacher. She sang in the church choir, volunteered with Vacation Bible School, helped with children’s church programs, and insured that the church was decorated for all seasons. She was an integral part of helping to see that a new church was constructed by donation of her time and tithe. She was a former employee of Fechiemer Brothers in Cincinnati, Ohio, Levi Strauss, the former Dr. Scholl’s, Cincy Sportswear, U.S. Playing Card, and Lakeside Place. She was the owner of The Doll Shoppe in Falmouth. Survivors include her son Danny Williams (Trish), Logansport, Indiana, daughters, Evelyn Carr, (Johnny Ray), Sheila Roberts (Darryl), and Sherry Wilcher, all of Falmouth, Ky., Julie Elizabeth Williams, (Ray Blau, fiancee), Cold Spring, Ky., a dear family friend, Elonda Hinson, Fal-mouth, Ky., sisters, Evelyn Browning and Goldie Lonaker, both of Falmouth, Ky., Beulah Slater, Georgetown, Ohio, brothers, James McGuire, Ind-ianapolis, Indiana, Bob McGuire, King, North Carolina, Tom McGuire, Eureka, California, eleven grandchildren, Jon-athan and Amy Carr, Brittany Roberts, Matt Williams, Lisa, Gary, Sandy, and Jeremy Wilcher, Sara Looney, David and Paul Whitford, and a host of great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky. and from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday August 17, 2005 at the Falmouth Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Falmouth Baptist Church, 403 Maple Avenue, Falmouth, Ky., under the direction of Woodhead Funeral Home. The pallbearers will be John R. Carr, Darryl Roberts, Matt Williams, Jonathan Carr, Roger Lonaker and David Whitford. Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Helen Jean Lewis, 64, Falmouth

Helen Jean Lewis, 64, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Monday, August 8, 2005 at the Hospice of N. Ky., St. Luke Hospital, East. Born on May 7, 1941 in Owen County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Allen Lewis and Montana Lewis. She was a member of the Lystra Church of Christ, a Elementary teacher at Phillip Sharp Middle School, Pendleton County. Survivors include her husband, J.D. Pollard, Falmouth, Ky., sons, Blake and Ross Seddens,both of Falmouth, Ky., daughters, Kim Webster, Seaman, Ohio, Mrs. Donna Pitts, Astatula, Fla., Pamela Jean Abbott, Peach Grove, Ky., Trish Seddens, Vergannes, Ill., Mrs. Jamie Dunn, Dry Ridge, Ky., Mrs. Shelli Rolan, Orlando, Fla., brothers, Robert Lewis, Dry Ridge, Ky., Jimmy Lewis, Crittenden, Ky., sister, Terri Caldwell, Burlington, Ky., fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Friday, August 12, 2005 at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home with Rev. Monte McElfresh officiating. Interment took place in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge, Ky. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Medical Center, Memphis, Tenn., or the St. Luke Hospital, East Hospice.

 

Carrie McBride, 52, Falmouth

Carrie Esther McBride, 52, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2005 at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital. Carrie was born in Michigan on June 30, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Garfield and Corda Burton McBride. She was a former employee of BB’s in Falmouth, Ky. Survivors include her sons, Lonnie (Cindy) Wanstrath, Falmouth, Ky., Steve (Kelly) Wanstrath, Falmouth, Ky., daughters, Rebecca (Darren) Seppala, Duluth, Minnesota, Jennifer (Tommy) Teegarden, Falmouth, Ky., Tammy Wanstrath, Falmouth, Ky., and fifteen grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2005 also at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in the Butler Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association P.O. Box 2680 North Canton, OH 44720.

 

Lovell Gallagher, 59, Carlisle

Lovell Nelson Gallagher, 59, of Carlisle, Ky., of Carlisle, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at his home. He was the husband of Judith Schalch Gallagher. Born on October 15, 1945 in Mason County to the late Samuel Edward and Thelma Elizabeth Stitt Gallagher, he was a retired carpenter and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witness. Emmaline Jones, 91, Williamstown

Mrs. Emmaline Wolfe Jones, 91, of Williamstown, formerly of Falmouth, passed away on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at the Florence Park Care Center, Florence, Ky. Born on Sept-ember 19, 1913 in Pendleton County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Benage and Phoebe Larkin Wolfe. She married the love of her life, Ernest Thomas Jones on December 23, 1932, and her dear husband preceded her in death after 50 years of marriage. Emma and the late Ernest Jones brought their children up in Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Pendleton County, where she served as a teacher and assisted in many other phases of work for the Lord. She was a homemaker and loved to work in the fields along side her husband. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three of her five children, Dawson Jones, Frankie Jones, and Clarita Landrum. Survivors include her oldest son, Harvey Jones, Independence, Ky., daughter, Naomi Ball, Wilmington, N.C., twenty-one grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Services were held on Monday, August 22, 2005, at the Gumlick Baptist Church, Pendleton County, with Bro. Buck Shinkle and Bro. Glen Redmon officiating. The pallbearers were Tim Jones, Jim Jones, Robert Jones, William “Red” Jones, Larry Ball, and Mike Landrum. Music was by Monte McElfresh., pianist, Joanie McClanahan. Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, served the family. Interment took place in the Gumlick Cemetery, Pendleton County.

Nelvia Phillips Peace, 87, Covington

Nelvia Phillips Peace, 87, of Covington, Ky., passed away on June 11, 2005. Born on September 27, 1917 in Fal-mouth, Ky., she graduated from the Transylvania College and College of the Bible (1938) and served as a Director of Religious Education at Madison Avenue Christian Church in Covington, Ky. She married Rev. F. Elwynn Peace on March 18, 1941. Together they served Christian Churches. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. F. Elwynn Peace. Survivors include her children, Dr. Marjorie Peace Lenn, Alexandria, Va., Frederick E. Peace, Jr., DeLand, Fla., Robert E. Peace, Alpharetta, Ga., Rev. Thomas H. Oden-Peace, Hous-ton, Texas, and six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 12:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the Colonial Christian Church. Memorial gifts may be made to the general or building fund of Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Blvd., Colonial Heights, VA 23834-1792.

 

Adrian Kenneth Hill, 81, Ohio

Adrian Kenneth Hill, 81, of Greenhills, Ohio passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2005. He was the beloved husband of Jean Sublett Hill, devoted father of Debbie (Jim) Schilling and David (Donna) Hill, caring grandfather of Adriann “Addie” Tracey and Jennifer Hill, great grandfather of Shawn Tracey Jr., and loving brother of Juanita Turpin. Services were held on Thursday, August 18, 2005 at Evans Funeral Home in Milford.

Walter (Walt) Campbell, 70, Butler

Walter (Walt) Ed-ward Campbell, 70, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the Veterans Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born in Perry County Ky., on September 11, 1934, the son of the late Edward and Maude Begley Campbell. He was a member of the Butler Baptist Church, the Pendleton County Sportsman Club, Butler Fire Department. He worked for Licking Valley Oil, drove a garage truck, was a school bus driver for Pendleton County and a construction worker. He married Helen Yoakum Campbell on June 30, 1956, and his dear wife survives his passing. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by his brother John Campbell and sister, Lidda Maggard. In addition to his wife he is also survived by his son, Paul Campbell, Harrodsburg, Ky., daughter, Donna Campbell, Butler, Ky., brothers, George W. Campbell, Butler, Ky., and Fred Campbell, Taylorsville, Ky., sisters, Elizabeth Fugate, Hazard, Ky., and Sue Story, Hamilton, Ohio, four grandchildren, Charolette and Edward Wilfong, and Dillon and Spencer Campbell along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Monday, August 29 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky., under full military honors.
Interment took place in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler.

 

Charles Cooper, 69, Covington

Charles Howard Cooper, 69, of Covington, Ky., formerly of Pendleton County, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood, Ky. Born on December 8, 1935 in Pendleton County, Ky., he was a son of the late Virgil and Mary Wallace Cooper. He retired from American Tool in Cincinnati, Ohio, after 31 years of working as a machine and forklift operator. He was a member of the Unity Baptist Church, Pendleton County. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilbur and Bobby Cooper. Survivors include his daughter, Lynna Earls, Elsmere, Ky., son, Charles Virgil Cooper, Covington, Ky., four grandchildren, Pete Allen Cooper, Brittany Earls, Jessica Cooper and Caroline Cooper, sisters, Evelyn Cooper, Latonia Lakes, Ky., Joy Ruth Cain, Taylor Mill, Ky., brothers, Nelson and Thomas Cooper, both of Latonia Lakes, Ky. Services were held on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Ronnie Angell officiating.
Interment took place in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pendleton County. Harry Hughes, 55, Butler

Harry J. Hughes, 55, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2005 at the St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas, Ky. Born in Kentucky on July 6, 1950, he was the son of the late Raymond and Bessie Baker Hughes. He was a member of the Falmouth Church of God and worked at Toyota for 35 years. Harry married Phyllis Bryant Hughes on July 20, 1968 and his dear wife survives his passing.
Additional survivors include his sons, Harvey Lee, Jamie and Daniel Hughes, all of Butler, Ky., daughters, Amy Beane, Demossville, Ky., Julie Hughes and April Gayheart, both of Butler, Ky., brothers, James, Eddie, Arnold, Burnis and Ray Hughes, all of Butler, Ky., Michael Hughes, Falmouth, and John Hughes, Cynthiana, Ky., sisters, Helen Lowe, Michigan, Susan Prater, Frenchburg, Ky., Sally Hutchison, Falmouth, Ky., Tina Bowman, Butler, Ky., Lisa Hutchison, Cynthiana, Ky., thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. through the evening on Tuesday, August 30, up until the funeral services at Noon on Wednesday August, 31 at the Falmouth Church of God, under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Albert Dziadek, 86, Falmouth

Alojzy “Albert” Dziadek, 86, of Falmouth, Kentucky, formerly of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on August 24, 2005, after a brief illness. Born on January 13, 1919, he was the son of the late Alojzy and Ludwina Dzia-dek. He owned and operated a nightclub in Southampton, Long Island, New York. After retirement, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, and in his final days he moved to Falmouth to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Albert Almeida. He leaves his beloved companion, Jo Ann M. Szyolowski of Price Hill, Ohio; his son, Christian A. (Jennie) Dziadek of Cincinnati, Ohio; his two daughters: Alicia J. (Richard) DeRise of Narrigansett, RI, and Michele A. (Albert) Almeida of
Falmouth, Kentucky; his three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, August 27, 2005, at the St. William Church, Price Hill, Ohio. Interment took
place in the Short Creek Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Road, Mays-ville, Kentucky 41056.

Eva Moore Chalk, 91, Newport

Eva Moore Chalk, 91, of Newport, Ky., passed away on Monday, August 29, 2005 at the Baptist Life Communities in Newport, Ky. She was born in Greenville, Tennessee on June 4, 1914, the daughter of John Hubert and Hattie Elsie Moore, she was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church. Eva married Reginald Chalk on March 17, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 7, 1986. Survivors include her son, Dennis Chalk, Mason, Ohio, sister, Zora Moore, New Orleans, La., granddaughter, Susan Chalk. Services were held on September 1, at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky. Interment took place in the Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick, Ky., under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky.

 

Gary William Betz, 48, Ohio

Gary William Betz, 48, of Cherry Grove, Ohio, passed away in a boating accident on the Ohio River on Thursday, August 25, 2005. He was a self employed carpenter.
Survivors include his mother, Janet Betz, Clearwater, Florida, sons, Gary Betz, Florida, Christopher Betz, Alexandria, Ky., daughters, Traci Betz, Teri Betz and Amanda Nelson all of Alexandria, Ky., brothers, Harry Betz, Ohio and Jerry Betz, Florida. Services were held on Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky. Interment took place in the Peach Grove Cemetery, Peach Grove, Ky.

 

Howard Floyd, 75, Highland Heights

Howard Floyd, 75, of Highland Heights, Ky., passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at The St. Luke East Hospital, Fort Thomas, Ky. He was a retired Lithographer for Jefferson-Smurft, Middletown, Ohio, a member of the Love and Faith Fellowship Church, Newport, Ky. Survivors include his wife, Bertha Floyd, daughters, Vanessa Hunt, Cold Spring, Ky., Vanetta Floyd, Renton, Washington and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, August 30, 2005 at The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
Interment took place in the Alexandria Cemetery, Alexandria, Ky.

 

Howard Kaufman, 62, Alexandria

Howard Joseph Kaufman, 62, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at the St. Luke Hospital, Ft. Thomas, Ky. He was an electrician for the Ford Motor Company, Batavia, Ohio, a member of St. Mary’s Church, Alexandria, Ky., member of United Auto Workers #683, Cincinnati, Ohio, member of Local 212 Electrical Union, Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife Joyce Kaufman, daughters, Teresa Lewis and Jeannie Wildeboer, both of Alexandria, Ky., Brenda Gieske, Indepen-dence, Ky., brothers, Jack Kaufman, Ft. Thomas, Ky., Fred Kaufman, Cold Spring, Ky., sisters, Joan Geisler, Ft. Thomas, Ky., Nancy Vanover, Highland Heights, Ky., and four grandsons. Services were held on Wednesday, August 31, at the Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky. Interment took place in the St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas, Ky.

Nevaeh Nicole Kaeff, infant daughter of Shaun and Cassandra Kaeff of Bellevue, Ky., passed away at her home on Wednedsay, August 23, 2005. She was born on July 4, 2005. Wesley Fletcher, 28, Newport

Wesley Dale Fletcher, 28, of Newport, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2005. Born on April 13, 1977 in Lexington, Ky. Wesley lived in Lexington until the age of four when his family moved to Grant’s Lick. He attended Grant’s Lick Elementary, Riley Middle School and graduated from Campbell County High School. He developed a passion for art and music. He earned a second-degree black belt in Tai Kwon Do and won several awards. After graduation he entered the United States Marine Corp on May 31, 1996, serving for 4 1/2 years. During his service as a Lance Corporal he became an avionics technician and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. After serving his country he returned to Northern Kentucky where he met Summer Caldwell, they were married on May 11, 2002. Wesley worked as a Field Service Electrical Engineer for R.A. Jones and Company, Inc. at the time of his death.Wesley was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Bertie S. Bell, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Summer Elaine Caldwell Fletcher, daughters, Morgan Marie and Allyson Belle, all of Newport, Ky., parents Larry Dale and Debra Bell Fletcher, Grant’s Lick, Ky., sister, Melissa Lynn Green, Campbellsville, Ky., paternal grandparents, Harold and Marie Fletcher, Lexington, Ky. and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Services were held on Saturday, September 10, 2005 at the Plum Creek Christian Church with Pastor Larry Travis officiating. Interment took place in the Plum Creek Christian Church Cemetery, Butler, Ky. Alexandria Funeral Home served the family. Donations in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Wes Fletcher Family Memorial Fund at Citizens Bank, 7300 Alexandria Pike, Alexandria, KY 41001.

 

Ruby Meece, 68, California

Ruby M. Meece, 68, of California, Ky., passed away at her home on Sunday, September 4, 2005. She was born in Illinois on April 27, 1937, the daughter of Melvin and Noral Tomlinson Brown. She was a member of Flagg Spring Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Jean Pyles and her brother Lyle Brown. Survivors include her husband, Leslie Brown, California, Ky., sons, Lyle Meece, Warren, Indiana, Charles Meece, Falmouth, Ky., daughter, Ruby Leidenheimer, Demossville, Ky., brothers, Dale Tomlinson, Somerset, Ky., Jack Brown, Somerset, Ky., sisters, Vicky Richardson, Somerset, Ky., Juanita Pittman, Goshen, Ohio, Phyllis Staley, Milford, Ohio, Betty Taylor, Corinth, W. Gina Antrobus, 35, Foster

Gina Orme Steffen Antrobus, 35, of Foster, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at her home. Gina was born in Ft. Thomas, Ky., on March 31, 1970, she was the daughter of Lee and Evelyn Martin Orme.
Survivors include her parents, Lee and Evelyn Orme, Butler, Ky., daughters, Samantha and Jozi Steffen, Foster, Ky., brothers, Dennis Orme, California, Ky., Ricky Orme, Butler, Ky., sisters, Pamela Hutton, Covington, Ky., Cara Orme, Butler, Ky., nieces, Tonja and Dianna Orme. Services were held on Saturday, September 10, 2005 ath the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky. Interment took place in the Burtonville Cemetery, Lewis County, Ky.

 

Edgar Thompson, 89 Florence

Edgar Thompson, 89, of Florence, Ky., formerly of Falmouth, passed away on Thurs-day, Sept. 8, 2005 at the Florence Park Care Center in Florence, Ky. Born on December 31, 1916 in Richmond, Ky. He was in the Service Industry as a mechanic and a veteran of the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Thompson and three children, Betty Sanford, Aletha Fields and Ernest Thompson.
Survivors include his two sons, Edgar Thompson, Jr. Pittsburg, Calif., James Thompson, Maryland, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky., with Eric Bryant officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. till time of services at the funeral home. Interment with full military honors by the Hardin-Browning Post #109 will be held in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky.

 

Dolly Redman Black, 94

Dolly Redman Black, 94, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2005 at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere. She was a home maker and member of Erlanger Baptist Church. She was born on December 27, 1910 in Concord, Pendleton County, Kentucky and was the daughter of John Redman. She married David Black of Pendleton County in 1930 and their marriage lasted 70 years, until his death in 2000. "God saw you were getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "Come to Me". With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart has stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best." Survivors include her sons, Bill Black and Floyd Black and daughters Marguerite Williams and Geneva Skinner, fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren. Services were held on September 9, 2005 at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, Kentucky. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Erlanger, Ky.

Bernice Coleman, 71, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Friday, September 2, 2005 at The St. Luke East Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. She was a choir member of the Second Twelve Mile Baptist Church. Phyllis Carr Greene, 70, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Williamstown, Ky. She was born on March 29, 1935 in Pendleton County, the daughter of the late Raymond and Wilma Carr. She was a former Pendleton County Veterans Assistant, former “Meals on Wheels” delivery person in Grant County, member of the Falmouth Chapter #481, order of Eastern Star, former Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Williamstown United Meth-odist Church, a 1954 graduate of Morgan, Ky., High School in Pendleton County. She married Bernard “Teddy” Greene on June 25, 1954 and he survives her passing. In addition to her husband she is also survived by her sons, Terry R. Greene, Falmouth, Ky., Darrell L. Greene, Falmouth, Ky., and two grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, September 19, 2005 at the Elliston Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown, Ky., under the direction of Rev. Chris Morgan and Rev. Art Honican. There was an Eastern Star Service held on Sunday, September 18, 2005.

Helen Lucille McClanahan Hamilton, 88, of Butler, formerly of Falmouth, peacefully departed this life on September 18, 2005. Born on April 22, 1917 in Pendleton County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Marie Brandt McClanahan. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Carl Hamilton; her parents: Joe and Minnie McCla-nahan, a brother, Herbert McClanahan; a sister, Lena Mae Whalen; a niece, Anna Marie Haley; and a nephew, Larry Allen Whalen. Helen was a member of the Falmouth Baptist Church having joined in 1926. She was a past member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Daughters of America. Helen learned at an early age to love the land working along side her father on the farm. She was a farmer at heart, she loved animals and with loving hands she nursed many back to health. She loved flowers and as long as her health permitted, she had something blooming year round. Helen managed the old Falmouth High School lunchroom for many years. She was an avid supporter of the Falmouth Red Devils and often baked cakes for the team to celebrate their victories. Helen loved to sew, embroidery, and crochet, but her true love was piecing quilts. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Brenda Mae Bush Brooks and her loving son-in-law, Marion Brooks of Mt. Orab, Ohio; five nephews: Marvin (Sue) Whalen of Cin-cinnati, Ohio, Earl (Dorothy) McClanahan of Butler, Ky, Charles (Jean) McClanahan of Erlanger, Ky, Gyneth Clark (Betty) McClanahan of Lexing-ton, Ky, and Harold (Beverly) McClanahan of Florida; sixteen great nieces and nephews; twenty-six great great nieces and nephews; and one great great great niece; two beloved cousins, Mable K. Oliver and Geneva Baucom, both of Falmouth, Ky. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept-ember 21, 2005, at the Falmouth Baptist Church with Bro. Don Mays and Bro. Gary Figgins officiating. Music will be shared by Adrian Williams and Darryl Ammerman. Jackie Lee Sanders, 60, of Covington, Ky., passed away on Thurs-day, September 15, 2005 at the St. Elizabeth North Hospital in Covington. He was a Vietnam Veteran in the Army. He was an independent Truck Driver and was also a musician in the popular band called the Roadhouse, a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Newport.
Survivors include his wife Donna, Covington, Ky., children Annette Malone, Orlando Florida, Jackie Sanders, Crescent Springs, stepdaughters, Diane Gurren, Erlanger, April and Jennifer Obrien, both of Covington, Ky., and eight grandchildren.

Donald Brown, 69, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2005 at the Hospice Unit of Northern Kentucky, at St. Luke East Hospital. Donald was born in Whitehall, Montana on October 26, 1935, he was the son of Dean and Irene Lablanc Brown. He was a member of the 2nd 12 Mile Baptist Church, a veteran in the United States Air Force, retired from Northwest Airlines, he was a ramp agent for 38 years, and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Virginia (Jenny) Brown, Butler, Ky., brother, Delbert Brown, Everett, Wash., sons, James Brown, Orting, Wash., Paul and Robert Brown, both of Everett, Wash., Michael Brown, Ferndale, Wash., daughters, Wendy White, Foster, Ky., Michelle Arrowsmith, Las Vegas, Nev., fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky.

The funeral procession traveled to Rigg Street where Brenda Bush Brooks placed a memorial wreath at the site of her mother’s residence from 1952-1994.

Paul F. Wade, 69, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 at his home. Paul was born in Richmond, Virginia on February 10, 1936. He was a self employed laborer, he served in the United States Marines and Navy and served in the Vietnam War. Survivors include his special friends, Brenda Caffery and Woody Morgan.

She was born in Pendleton County on May 6, 1898, the daughter of John Fletcher and Flowella Francey McKenney Bishop. She was a former Pendleton County Clerk, the oldest member of the Falmouth Christian Church that she joined at the age of 12. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thompson, brother, Walter Bishop, sisters, Effie Field, Chloe Smith, Hallie Bishop, and Louise Clinger.
She is survived by her nephew, Theodore (Billy) E. Logan, Louisville, Ky. Graveside services were held on Monday, September 26, 2005 at the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky., under the direction of Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth, Ky.

Chester Ray Kavanaugh, 95, of Falmouth, passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at the St. Luke East Hospital in Ft. Thomas, Ky. He was the son of the late Hord and Bertha Fryman Kavanaugh. He was a retired employee of Interlake Steel Mill in Newport where he worked from 1929-1972, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the AFL/CIO Union, chaplain for the Pendleton County Senior citizens and WOW Lodge, member of the Kincaid Lake State Park Association, charter member of Fairlane Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, and bus monitor and always opened the church. He was a member of Antioch Mills Christian Church at his death. He married Bonnie Aulick Kavanaugh on March 20, 1986, and his wife survives his passing. He was preceded in death by his first wife; Ina Williams Kavanaugh in 1985, his son; Larry Kavanugh in May 2005, sisters; Hallie Burlew, Eva Kavanaugh, Vida McCart-ney, Janet Fryer, brothers; Paul, Billy, and Donald Kavanugh, and Stanley Traylor, Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Frances Mann, Louisville, Ky., brother, Jr. Mann, Louisville, Ky., daughter, Natasha Mann, Louisville, Ky., sons, Brent and Clinton Mann, both of Falmouth, Ky., 2 very special friends, Bobbi Jo Garcia and Olivia Garcia, both of Covington, Ky., many aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and a host of friends.
Services were held on Saturday, October 1, 2005 in Louisville, Ky.

 

Marvin Huff, 80, Alexandria

Marvin C. Huff, 80, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Friday, September 30, 2005 in Alexandria, Ky. He was a retired crane operator-Electrician for The Interlake Steel, Newport, Ky., a WWII Navy Veteran, a member of the Alexandria Lodge, #152, F & AM, Alexandria, Ky., The Scottish Rite, Valley of Covingotn, Ky. He was the husband of the late Doris Huff.
Survivors include his daughters, Audra Turner, California, Ky., Karen Daniel, Alexandria, Ky., sons, Mike Huff, Pleasure-ville, Ky., Joe Huff, Washington (State), brother, Howard Huff, Georgia, ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at The Main Street Baptist Church, Alexandria, Ky.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the church. Visitation also on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services. James A. Steinhauer, 85, of California, Ky., passed away on Sat-urday, October 1, 2005 at the St. Elizabeth South Hospital, Edgewood, Ky. He was a retired inspector for Newport Steel, Newport, Ky., and a WWII Army Veteran.

Doris Ann Huff, 79, of Alexandria, Ky., passed away on Friday, September 30, 2005 in Alexandria, Ky. She was a retired cashier at Alexandria Drugs, Alexandria, Ky., she was the wife of the late Marvin Huff. Carl E. Brown, 83, Alabama

Carl E. Brown, 83, MSGT. US Army re-tired, of Smiths Sta-tion, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at his home. Born on August 18, 1922 in Pendleton County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth McDowell Brown. Mr. Brown had been an area resident of Smiths Station, Alabama since 1977 and was a member of the Philadelphia Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of World War II, he served in Korea and Vietnam. He was preceded in death by seven sibblings, Ernest, Jack, Howard, Louis, Maggie, Goldie and Allie Brown. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Myra Nell Woodham Brown, Smiths Station, Ala-bama, son, Bradley Brown, Roswell, Ga., daughters, Patricia Montarella, Columbia, Ga., Darla Burns, Dallas, Texas, sister, Hallie Price, Falmouth, Ky., three grandsons, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on September 18 at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Phoenix City Chapel with the Reverand John Rigby officiating. Interment with full military honors was held in Lakeview Memory Gardens.

 

Jack McCown, 64, Cynthiana

Jack McCown, 64, of Cynthiana, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at The Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana, Ky., he was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Doris McCown, son, Bill McCown, Cynthiana, Ky., daughter, Frances Marie Hutchison, Lexington, Ky., brothers, James McCown, Covington, Ky., Dan McCown, Newport, Ky., and one grandchild. Services were held on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at the Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky.
Interment took place in The Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana, Ky.

Ronald Joseph Pressler, 50, of Newport, Ky., passed away on Friday, September 30, 2005 at The St. Luke East Hospital, Ft. Thomas, Ky. He was a custodian for 34 years with the Newport Board of Education, Newport, Ky. Survivors include his sons, Joseph and John Nickerson, both of Covington, Ky., daughter, Kelly Kaye, Ohio, sisters, Margie Sharp, Newport, Ky., Mary Lou Cook, Newport, Ky., Carol Casebolt, Southgate, Ky., Jenny Tipton, Alexandria, Ky., brother, Roy Pressler, Newport, Ky., and one grandchild. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 at The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at the funeral home.
Interment will take place in The Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick, Ky.

George “Frank” Napier, 44, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at his residence. He was a mechanic., a former employee of Neltner’s in Newport, Ky., and Goodyear in Alexandria, Ky. He enjoyed working on cars, riding quad runners, taking care of his 7 dogs, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Napier, mother, Darlene Napier, Butler, Ky., sons, Frankie Napier, Pendleton Co. Ky., Aaron and Eric Henry, both of Campbell Co., Ky., Jason Henry, Pendleton Co., Ky., daughter, Jennifer Lomboy, Anderson Township, Ohio, sister, Janice Ison, Peach Grove, Ky., and ten grandchildren.
Services were held on Monday, October 3, 2005 at The Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick, Ky. Interment took place in The St. Stephen Cemetery, Ft. Thomas, Ky

 

Bernard Crowley, 80, Ft. Mitchell

Bernard Crowley, 80, of Ft. Mitchell, Ky., formerly of Pendleton County passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at his home. Born in Pendleton County on February 23, 1925 he was the son of the late Edward and Clara Cavanaugh Crowley. He was a retired meat salesman, a member of the Saint Pius Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He married Mona F. Stahl on January 3, 1948 and his dear wife survives his passing. In addition to his wife he is survived by his sons, David Crowley, Butler, Ky., Tommy Crowley, Alexandria, Ky., brother Dr. J.C. Crowley, Grants Lick, Ky., four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. -11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 at St. Pius Catholic Church in Edgewood, Ky., with services starting at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, Ky.

Raymond Ruber, 86, Falmouth

Raymond Henry Ruber, 86, of Falmouth, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2005, at his home. Born on January 21, 1919, he was the son of the late John Lewis and Minnie Meyer Ruber. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and earned his Master’s degree from Eastern University. He was a well-known school teacher and principal with over 30 years of service to the Pendleton, Grant and Mason County Schools. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church, Pendleton County. He married Anna Zilpha Tebelman Ruber on March 22, 1942 and his dear wife survives his passing. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Zilpha Ruber, he leaves his son, Rasceal Ruber of Falmouth, two daughters, Raetta Porter, Carrollton, Ky., and Angie Gibson, Grants Lick, Ky., five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services were held on Sunday, October 9, 2005 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Rev. Don Mays officiating. Music was shared by Darryl Ammerman, Robbie Thornberry, and his nieces, Carol Spaw, Terri DeZarn and Sonya Snow. The pallbearers were Grant Caldwell, Dan Fry, Andy Caldwell, Robbie Thornberry, B.J. Johnson, Wayne Biddle, and Tommy DeZarn. Interment took place in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Pendleton County. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Fund.

 

Shirley Withrow, 60, Butler

Shirley Temple Withrow, 60, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at the St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. Born on October 16, 1944 in Ky., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie Marie Justice Thurman. She married Carol Eugene Oaks in 1960 and her dear husband preceded her in death in December 1978. She formerly worked as a nurses aid at Owenton Manor in Owenton, Ky., and was a member of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughters, Clara Shirley Blaine, Critt-enden, Ky., Bonnie Lou Withrow, Falmouth, Ky., Patricia Ann Simpson, Falmouth, Ky., Janetta Blevins, Owenton, Ky., sons, Nathan Eugene Oaks, Falmouth, Ky., Dewey Oaks, Jr., LaGrange, Ky., fourteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, brother, John Thomas Thurman, Falmouth, Ky., sisters, Linda Lou Messer, Owen County, Carolyn Hurst, Grant County, and Evelyn Thurman, Dry Ridge, Ky. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bro. Milkweed and Bro. Joe Hall officiating. The pallbearers will be Robert Messer, James Messer, Jeff Duncan, Ronnie Neuspickle, Robert Neuspickle, and Nathan Oaks. Charlie McQueen, 65, of Butler, Ky., passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2005, at his home. Born on July 27, 1940, he was the son of the late Tom Henry and Martha Jane (Neace) McQueen and a member of the Falmouth Church of God. Charlie spent most of his early years as an employee of Cincinnati Sheet Metal while raising his children in Pendleton county. He recently retired from Pittsfield in Butler, Ky. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an enthusiastic Kentucky Wildcat fan and enjoyed shooting hoops with his friends at the Flour Creek Church Gym. He was next to unbeatable in the game of Corn Hole (he has won numerous tournaments) and he also loved to play Spades. He was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Rev. Cager McQueen. Survivors include his five children, Chuck McQueen, Dayton, Ky., Pam Fields, Butler, Ky., Carol Brown, Butler, Ky., Randy McQueen, Hebron, Ky., Charles Luke, Butler, Ky., nine grandchildren, two brothers, Johnny McQueen, Dry Ridge, Ky., Jerry McQueen, Gays Creek, Ky., three sisters, Cassie Cole, Butler, Cindy Baker, Gays Creek, and Lucy Williams, Falmouth, Ky. Mary Elizabeth Caldwell, 87, of Falmouth, Ky., passed away on Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Edgemont Manor Nursing Home, Cynthiana. Born on January 21, 1918 in Portland, Pendleton County, she was a daughter of the late Bernard and Aggie Klaber Sullivan. She worked for the former Dr. Scholl’s Shoe Factory in Fal-mouth. She married Robert Caldwell and her dear husband preceded her in death, a member of the Mt. Moriah Christian Church, Pendleton County. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Francis Wintring. Survivors include her son Robert (Nancy) Browning, Buffalo Grove, Illinois, grandson, Robert Browning, two nieces, Carol Bales and Helen Carol Guzzy. Services were held on Monday, October 10, 2005 at the Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth, with Bill Clos officiating. The pallbears were Rick Justice, Keith Johnson, Rob Browning, Bill Massey, Ant-hony Massey and Bill Clos. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Moriah Christian Church.

Services were held on Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Peoples Funeral Home, Butler, Ky. Interment took place in the Peach Grove Cemetery, Pendleton County, Ky.

 

Dick Phillips, 65, Lenoxburg

Dick Phillips, 65, of Lenoxburg, Ky., passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1940, the son of Grover and Mary Dick Manning. He retired from Kahns. In addition to his parents he is survived by his wife Trina Phillips, Lenoxburg, Ky., son, Richard (Sue) Phillips, Ripley, Ohio, daughter, Misti (Johnny) Craig, Elizabethtown, Ky., Lisa Tackett, Texas, step-daughters, Lisa (Jason) Winglewish, Union, Ky., Tisa (Alan) Shields, Lenoxburg, Ky., brother, Tho-mas Manning, Ohio, sister, Linda Manning, Batavia, Ohio, mother-in-law, Billie Russell, Lenoxburg, Ky., eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Phillips requested his body to be donated to U.C. Hospital.

Carol Banfield, 58, Fordsville, Ky

Carol Faye Banfield, 58, of Fordsville, Ky., formerly of Harrison County, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2005, at the Fordsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on November 4, 1946, she was the daughter of Goldie Hazel Conyers Banfield, and the late Shirley Banfield. Her brother, Frank Banfield, preceded her in death. In addition to her mother, Goldie Hazel Conyers Banfield of Cynthiana, she is survived by her sister, Norma Jean Yeager, Falmouth, Ky., brothers, Ronald Thomas Banfield, Douglas M. Banfield, and Gary W. Banfield, all of Harrison County, Ky. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, at the Pythian Grove Cemetery, Harrison County. Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry, served the family.

Amanda Lane Booher, 47, of Florence, Ky., dear daughter of Edgar and Sally Booher of Florence, Ky., passed away on Monday, October 10, 2005, at her home.

Amanda Booher, 47, Florence

Amanda Layne Booher, 47, passed away at her home in Florence, Ky., on the morning of October 10, 2005, where she resided with her parents, Edgar R. and Sally M. Booher. Aman-da was born at LaGrange, Ky., on July 4, 1958. She was born with Downs Syndrome and resided with her parents her entire life. Amanda was a sweet and loving child and continued with that same personality throughout her lifetime. She loved her church and had many close friends throughout the country. She lived in various areas during her lifetime having moved with her family when her father was transferred in his work. Amanda attended church regularly and accepted the Lord as her savior at Messiah United Methodist Church, Springfield, Virginia, when she was 21 years old. During the period of 11 years she lived in Virginia, she was the regular acolyte for one of the Sunday church services. Upon her father’s retirement in 1990 the family moved back to Northern Kentucky and began attending Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, Ky., Amanda picked up where she left off in Virginia and became a regular acolyte for one of the church services at Immanuel until about 2 years ago when her health began to fail. She enjoyed working at sheltered workshops for the handicapped wherever she lived, and spending time with her friends. She was last employed at BAWAC, a sheltered workshop in Florence, Kentucky, but retired recently due to failing health. She has left many close friends and associates and will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, she is survived by brothers, Benjamin Booher, Florence, Ky., Aaron Joseph Booher Lorton, Va., sister, Lauren Jo Olson, Boardman, Ohio; eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, Ky., at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2005, with Rev. J. Paul Brunstetter, Rev. Dr. Barry K. Carpenter, and Rev. P. Eric Bryant officiating. Music was shared by Joanne Brumm, organist, and vocalists, Will Campbell and Mike Edmunds, and The Chancel Choir. The pallbearers were David Booher, Jacob Booher, Jessica Olson, Erika Olson, Ben Booher, and Joey Booher. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth, Ky. Memorials are suggested to the BAWAC Sheltered Workshop, Kentucky Drive, Florence, Ky., or to Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park, Kentucky.
