Carroll County Democrat
Kermit L. Yelton,
a State Highway Department employee, died
Monday, August 22 at Carroll County Memorial
Hospital. He had been in ill health about a
year.
Mr. Yelton was born
April 15, 1920 in Pendleton County but had
lived in Carroll County most of his life.
He was employed by
the Gulf Oil Company for 16 years and was a
veteran of World War II. Survivors are his
wife, Mrs. Mary Jewell Yelton; two
daughters, Karen and Debbie Yelton; his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Yelton; one
sister, Mrs. Nelda Jean Griffith and a
brother, Kenzie Yelton.
Funeral Services
were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at
the Graham Funeral Home by Rev. Paul Livesay,
minister of the Carrollton Christian church.
Flag services were held at the graveside by
Carrollton Post of the American Legion.
Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Active pallbearers
were Edgar Ellis, Tom Martin, Cecil Dorten,
Frank Grimes, Walter Meadows and Ewing
Perry. Honorary: Howard Aldridge and Cecil
Yeager.
