Hamilton woman enjoyed painting

HAMILTON — Ora Coffey enjoyed painting, relatives said.

The Hamilton great-grandmother of eight died Monday at Wellington Manor at age 92.

“She had an interest in painting and reading,” said Donald Depew, her son-in-law. “She liked her church work.”

She also loved making quilts.

Coffey was born to Henry C. and Mattie Anglin on March 31, 1912, [Rockcastle County], in Kentucky. She worked as a welder for Estate Stove Company and as a seamstress for Fashion Frocks, both in Hamilton.

Coffey is survived by her daughter, Lula Mae Depew of Hamilton; her sisters, Nannie Murphy of Avon Park, Fla., Lillie Sargent of South Lebanon, Laura Martin of Berea, Ky., and Addie Ballinger of Powell, Tenn.; her brother, Aster Anglin of Lexington, Ky.; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Stanley Coffey.

She was a member of Fairfield West Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Webb Noonan Funeral Home on Ross Avenue in Hamilton, followed by burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation is at noon at the funeral home.
