Jack Hood

CRAB ORCHARD - A.J. "Jack" Hood, 64, of Crab Orchard, died Monday at the University of Kentucky Hospital-Markey Cancer Center.

Born July 18, 1940, in Rockcastle County, he was the son of the late James H. and Maggie Viola Reed Hood. He was a retired boilerman with the U.S. Civil Service Naval Shipyard in Washington state, an Army veteran, and member of Watts Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Mark Hood of Wilmington, N.C.; three daughters, Ramona Kelley, Vanessa Guyton and Amber Stokes, all of Wilmington; two sisters, Zella Saylor of Winchester and Flonnie Wilburn of Crab Orchard; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at McKnight Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Gutenson. Burial will be in Line Creek Cemetery in Rockcastle County.

Pallbearers will be Brian and Jamey Hawkins, Matthew Ward, Ralph Baker, Lonnie Pruitt and Paul Barrett.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Thursday.
