Mrs. Bessie Mint Kirby, age 87 of Sand Springs Rd. in Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, Nov. 16 at her home. She was born in Rockcastle County on May 5, 1916 the daughter of Jim and Helen Rash Cromer. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of Jesus Christ at Sand Springs.

She is survived by a son, Paul Kirby (Clarice) of Mt. Vernon; and seven daughters, Lois Nicely (James) and Lorene Doan (Jesse), both of Mt. Vernon, Doris Sowder (Jimmy) of Cincinnati, OH, Valice Buck (Kenneth) of Franklin, IN, Villa Tingle (Jeff) of New Whiteland, IN, and Sue Peters (James) and Jenny Vickers (Gary), both of Berea, KY. Also surviving are 40 grandchildren; 87 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Kirby; a son, Thomas Kirby; and a daughter, Linda Lou Kirby.
