Mr. Elva Lyons, age 79 of Somerset, died Friday, Apr. 9 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. He was born in Paintsville, KY on Apr. 24, 1924 the son of Arnold and Mintie Lyons. He was a retired job setter for General Motors and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. In addition, he was a lifetime member of the VFW and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bessie Creech Lyons; one son, Larry Lyons (Loretta) of Dayton, OH; one brother, Emory Lyons of Ashland; and one grandchild, Jenny Lyons of Dayton, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Mintie Lyons; a brother, Raymond Lyons; and two sisters, Edith Sipple and Ester Rice.
