Ruth Smith

STANFORD - Services for Janie Ruth Coffey Smith, 73, of Stanford, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Stanford Baptist Church by the Rev. Max Hester.

Burial will be in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

She died Tuesday at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center.

Born Nov. 27, 1930, in Rockcastle County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Sallie Levisay Coffey. She was a member of Stanford Baptist Church, a past member of Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce and Lincoln County Fair Board.

She was co-owner and operator of radio station WRSL in Stanford since 1965 with her late husband, Cal Smith.

Survivors include five sons, Calvin Smith of Lancaster, David Smith of Moreland, Phillip Smith of Brodhead, Jonathan Smith of Monee, Ill., and Joseph Smith of Stanford; a daughter, Amy Bastin of Stanford; three brothers, Bill Coffey of Bradenton, Fla., and Willis and Donald Coffey, both of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Kathleen Machel of Harrodsburg and Barbara Heseltine of Mount Vernon; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday and 8:30-noon Saturday at Spurlin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers wll be James Bastin and Jason, Bradley, Dale, Calvin C. II, and Casey Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Memorials may go to the American Cancer Association.
