3-09-1989: Rosa Renner Sowder died. Rockcastle County, Kentucky Newspaper, "Mount Vernon Signal," obit, dated 3-16-1989, follows; Rosa Sowder, 96, of Norwood, Ohio and formerly of Pine Hill died March 9, 1989 at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born in Rockcastle County Aug. 14, 1891, the daughter of William and Oretta Pittman Renner. She was a member of the Pine Hill Church of God. She is survived by a son, Glen Sowder of Norwood, Ohio and three daughters, Alice Barnes of Pine Hill, Loretta Patton and Daisy Sowder both of Norwood, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sowder, three daughters, Rissie Hurley, Flora Overbay and Maranda Sowder, four brothers and one sister. Services were March 12 at Dowell and Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Harvey Pensol officiating. Burial was in Piney Grove Cemetery in Brodhead. Pallbearers were Robert Barnes, Joe Edd Barnes, Bill Barnes, Lonnie Sowder, Edd Patton and Gene Overbay. |
