The above plat represents a tract of land of 104 acres divided
amongst the heirs of John Sheley deceased as divided by
William W. Allen, John Sulphin(?), James Moore and Isaac
Cleninbraid(?) commisioners appointed by Scott County court.
Beginning at A on Plat A stone and buckeye thence north 11'6
25 poles to a stake in Dry Run Road thence along said road
west 90 poles and 5/10 to a stone. Thence S 79 1/2 E 18 to pole to
a small black locust, thence N 11 E 48 poles to the beginning
containing 34 and 3 rods. The above named lot alloted to the
widow of the said deceased, lot N _____ containing 16 acres
1 road and 30 poles allotted to Martha Jane
Sheley. Begining at A on the plat thence S 79 1/2 E 40 4/10 poles
to a stake, corner to William Moore then S 11 W 53 9/10
poles to as stake cornes William Moore in Lanes Run then S 28 N
12 poles to a stake corner to lot no 2. Then N 79 1/2 W 36 poles
to a stake, then E 66 poles to the beginning.
Lot No 2 containing 20 acres and roads with 30 poles allotted to
John Sheley beginning at B on plat a small black locust comes to
the Widow's dower then with the line N 79 1/2 to 21 poles to a
stake corner to lot No 3. Then with the line of No. 3 south 3/4
degrees west 96 1/2 poles to a stake in William Allen's line.
Then with this line south 79 1/2 to 11 6/10 poles to the middle
of James Lanes Run, thence N 37 E 16 poles to a stake then south 83
W 7 6/10 poles to a stake. Then N 57 to 14 poles to a stake. Thence
_____ to a stake. Thence _____ 38 poles to a stake. Thence N to E
16 7/10 to a stake, then 11 28 E 38 poles to a stake corner to
Lot No. 1 then N 79 1/2 W 36 poles to a stake N 11 E 18 poles to
the beginning.
Lot No. 3 containing 16 acres _____(road?) and 30 poles allotted
to Samuel Sheley beginning at a stake on the lower(?) line corner
to Lot No. 2. Thence N 79 1/2 W 27 2/10 poles corner lot No. 4,
then with the same S 3/4' W 96 1/2 poles to a stake in William
Allen line then with the same S 79 1/2 E 27 2/10 poles to a stake
corner to lot No 2. Then with the same N 3/4 E 96 1/2 poles to the
beginning.
Lot No. 4 containing 16 acres road and 30 poles allotted
to James L. Moore and Mary Ann his wife commencing at C a stake
corner to Lot No. 3 in the __________dower(?) line, thence with
the lower line N 79 1/2 W 27 2/10 poles to a stake in a
________ then S 3/4' W 96 1/2 poles to a stake corner to William
Allen then with his line 79 1/2 E 27 2/10 poles to a stake corner
to Lot No. 3. Thence ______ the same _______ E 96 1/2 poles to
the beginning.
We the undersigned commissioners appointed by the Scott County
court allott to Hanna Sheley, widow of John Sheley deceased,
her ______ in the lands of said decendent.

In Scott county also her dower in the slaves of said decendent
and to divide the remaining land and slaves of said decedent
amongst his heirs submit the following report that having been
first duly sworn, we proceeded to discharges the duties aforsaid
that as have allotted the widow her dower in the trade
of land upon which John Sheley resided at his death the only land
owned by him in Scott County and divided the balance thereof
amongst his heirs according to the _____ plat of said division
and allotment and his explanatory notes and remarks thereto
attached all of which are made a part of this report. They
further report they have allotted to the widow
her dower in the slaves of said decedent and divided
the balance amongst the heirs as followeth, to wit. They have
allotted as dower to the widow a negro boy named
Carter valued by them at $275 and a woman named Cashab
valued at $400 Negroes lack the sum of $107 in value to make them
equal to the third part of all the negores, and which sum is to
be paid by the heirs to the widow that the balance of the negroes
they have divided as follows. To Martha Sheley a boy named
Stephen valued at $200 and Maria a girl valued at $200 which
negroes amount to $15.50 cts more than her share and which sum
she must pay to the other heirs.
To Samuel Sheley a woman Milly at 300.00 and Billy a child at
62.50 = 362.50 which lack the sum of $25 to be the full value
of this his part and which sum he is to recover from the amount
to be paid by others.
To John Sheley, a boy named Bill valued at $160 and Sarah a
girl valued to $125.00 which lacks the sum of $102.50 of his
share in value and which is to be paid him by the money arising
from those who receive over their share in value as herein shown.
To James L. Moore and Mary his wife a negro man named Lewis valued
at $600 amounting to 212.50 cents over his share which sum is to be
paid by them over to those who have received _____ value of slaves
than their proportion.
We further report that although in this division of land and
negroes as shown each is named and allotted to J.L. Moore and
wife that John Sheley is by purchase the owner of said shares so
named as allotted to said Moore and wife and hold a conveyance.
Therefore all of which is respectfully reported this 17th May 1838.
NOTE: The plat shows 5 lots and is divided among John Sheley's
widow Hannah and his children John, Mary Ann wife of James Moore Jr.,
Samuel, and Martha Jane Sheley.
