Kentucky: A History of the State. Perrin, Battle & Kniffin, 6th ed.,1887, Spencer Co. MRS. ELIZA HENRY was born June 20, 1825, in Spencer County, Ky., daughter of Andrew and Polly (Johnson) Allen. Andrew was a native of Spencer County, Ky., was born in 1796, and died in 1867. The Allens probably came from Virginia, and the Johnsons were from Ireland. Mrs. Henry is the fifth of a family of eight children. She has lived on a farm all her life, and is the owner of more than 300 acres of land. In 1843 she was united in marriage with John Henry, of Spencer County, Ky., who was a son of John Henry, Sr., and Amy (Reed) Henry. Mr. Henry's ancestors moved from Virginia to Tennessee, and from Tennessee to Kentucky. John H., Jr., subject's husband, was born and reared on a farm, and was always noted for his industry. He was born in 1815, was a life-long member of the Baptist Church, and died in 1874. Mr. and Mrs. Henry had nine children: an infant unnamed; John A., Anna M. (deceased), Martha A. (deceased), William P., Minor J., Ezekiel M., James T. (deceased) and Allen B. (deceased). Mrs. Henry, like her husband, has been a consistent Christian, and now awaits the Master's call to join the union above. Henry Johnson Allen Reed = VA Ireland TN
