HOLLOWAY was born August 9, 1798, within six miles of Richmond, and moved to Barren County, Ky., in 1809. His father was James Holloway, who was killed in 1811 by a tree falling on him. His mother was Julia (Staples) Holloway, a native of Virginia, and died in 1875. Our subject learned the wagon-maker's trade, which he followed many years; moved to Shelby County in 1824, where he resided until 1846, when he moved to Spencer County. September 15, 1820, he married Ann M. Miller, daughter of Aminadab Miller of Virginia. She was born August 23, 1800, and she and her husband have traveled life's path together for nearly seventy years. They are both members of the Christian Church and are parents of fourteen children: Joseph, Elizabeth, America, Harriet, Juda A., Maria (deceased), Robert, David R., Major, William, Benjamin, Edmond, Albert and Fleming.
