Kentucky: A History of the State. Perrin, Battle & Kniffin, 6th ed.,1887, Spencer Co. R.J. JONES was born in Spencer County, Ky., April 26, 1844, the sixth of a family of seven children born to John and Caroline (Wigginton) Jones. John was born in Bullitt County, Ky., was engaged in agricultural pursuits, and was a son of George Jones, who was born in Virginia. He immigrated to Kentucky in quite an early day, when Louisville was a small town, and settled in Bullitt County. Mrs. Caroline Jones was born in Spencer County, and is a daughter of Elijah Wigginton, who was a native of Virginia. Our subject was educated at the Georgetown College, in Scott County, Ky. He married, May 3, 1866, Henrietta Bridwell, of Spencer County, Ky., daughter of James and Margaret (Terell) Bridwell. Our subject owns 317 acres of land, and resides near Little Union Church, which was established in 1811.
