Kentucky: A History of the State. Perrin, Battle & Kniffin, 6th ed.,1887, (Spencer) JACOB C. RUBLE was born in Spencer County, Ky., December 20, 1818, the youngest son of two sons and three daughters born to David and Frankie (Samons) Ruble. His father was born in 1791, in Spencer County, where he lived for many years; later moved to Shelby County, where he died in 1861. His mother was a native of Virginia, born about 1797, and died in Anderson County about 1872. His paternal grandfather Ruble participated in the war for independence. His paternal [sic] grandfather, John Samons, was a native of Virginia, and also served in the Revolution. He came to Kentucky when a young man, settled in Shelby County, where he lived until his death. Our subject's early life was passed on the farm, and he was educated in the common schools of Shelby County. He was united in marriage, October 22, 1840, to Rhoda Watts, of Anderson County, and the birth of two sons and four daughters blessed their union: James T., John H., Mary E., Frances, Alpha and Edna; Mary E. and Edna are deceased. Politically Mr. Ruble has been a life-long Democrat, and is a warm advocate of the principles of that party. He is a member of the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church. He has a well cultivated farm of 370 acres, which he successfully manages, and is justly considered one of Shelby County's enterprising citizens. Ruble Samons Watts = Shelby Anderson VA
