I John Smith of the County of Taylor being sick and weak in body but of
sound mind and disposing memory, do hereby make my last will and
testament in manner & form following that is to say, I desire that all
my estate shall go to my wife Sarah A. Smith both personal and real and
she shall sell or convey such as she thinks proper to pay the debts of
which I am now owing and that she shall have the right to give to my
daughter, Harriet N. Smith, one horse and one hundred dollars in cash,
at any time she may think proper to do so. One gray horse now on the
place to James O. Smith at any time she may think fit; and all my estate
at the time of death of my wife, shall be equally divided amongst all my
children now living or to the heirs of their body's and Alice M. Gowdy
to inherit her mother's part. And lastly I do hereby appoint my wife my
executor of my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have set
my hand and affixed my seal this 20th day of December 1853.
