The Rev. John W. Davis, 80, of Owenton Road, Stamping Ground, died Tuesday, June 29,
2004, at Georgetown Healthcare. He was the husband of the late Virginia Ruth Schmidt
Davis. A native of Owen County, he was the son of the late John and Ava Reed Davis. He was a
retired Assemblies of God minister for more than 50 years and guidance counselor at
Scott County Middle School.Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David C. and Tonia Davis, of Georgetown; a
daughter, Twilla D. Jones, of Stamping Ground; three grandchildren, Robert D., Anastasia R. and Maurice W. Jones; a step-granddaughter, Ashley Mosley; a brother,
Jimmy; and a sister, Hattie.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Trinity Assembly
of God Church with Pastor Stanley Holder and Pastor Ronald Ferrell officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Frankfort.Casket bearers will be Maurice W. Jones, Eddie Wiley, Tommy Barber, Kenny and Tim
Robinson and Allen Davis. Johnson’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was a member of Lexington United Baptist Church and Woodford County Homemakers.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Cheryl J. Biddle, Lana D. Gibbons, Sylvia L. Nicholson and Ken E. Davis;
11 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill. Burial
will follow in Versailles Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Welda Lee Dayley, 67, of Versailles, wife of Kenneth H. Dayley, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002.
Born in Kellerton, Iowa, Jan. 23, 1934, she was the daughter of the
late Weldon and Grace Billington Greenman. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Grace
Ellen Urquhart and Kerry Dayley Gearon, both of Versailles; a son, Tim K. Dayley, Versailles; a brother, Byron Eugene Greenman, Iowa; and four
grandchildren, Michelle Grace, Kylie Elizabeth, and James Andrew Urquhart, and Rachel Morgan Gearon.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at the South Elkhorn Baptist Church by the Rev. Phil Schultz and the Rev. Joseph Girdler.
Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery. Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles, was in charge of arrangements.

Nora Belle Demarest, 86, of Versailles, wife of the late Ernest Stephens and Fred A. Demarest, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at her
residence. Born in Humphreys, Mo., Oct. 3, 1915, she was the daughter of the late
Walter H. and Ethel Sharp Chowning. She was a member of the Versailles
First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) since 1976, and was a retired nurse, having worked at the King’s Daughters Hospital,
Frankfort.Survivors include four daughters, Imogene Boles, Colorado Springs, Colo., Ginger Nichols, Indianapolis, Ind., and Mary Ann Moss and Freda
Demarest, both of Versailles; a son, John E. Stephens, Summerville, Ga.; a sister, Marjorie McGregor, Missouri; 11 grandchildren; 27 great
grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. A brother, Charlie Chowning, is deceased.Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 14, 2002, at the
Versailles First Christian Church by the Rev. Chuck Brumley. The family will receive visitors at the church beginning at 2 p.m. the day of the

Leo Garnett Dennis, 92, of Cynthiana, husband of Beulah Garrison Dennis, died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in Harrison County, a son of the late Joe and Bessie Brunker Dennis.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Ronnie Dennis,
Versailles, and Mickey Dennis, Cynthiana; a sister, Betty Whalen, Fairfield, Ohio; three granddaughters, Sheri, Amy, and Michelle Dennis;
a niece, and a nephew. A brother, J. B. Dennis, is deceased.Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at the Drake
Funeral Home, Cynthiana, by the Rev. Clifford Neat. Burial with military honors followed in the Battle Grove Cemetery. Casket bearers
were Wayne Fryman, Ralph Woolums, Charles Garrison, Gilbert McBee, James Prows, James Ammerman, John Brooking, and Oscar Cheek. Honorary

Devers, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2000, at the Pine Meadows Nursing
Home in Lexington. Born in Franklin County on Dec. 10, 1908, she was the daughter of the
late George and Lizzie Johnson.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Parker, Versailles; Calvin Devers, Versailles; Leonard Devers, Phoenix, Ariz.; Paskle Devers,
Lawrenceburg, and Donald Devers, Franklin, Ind.; 26 grandchildren, and several great- and great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters, Beatrice
Devers and Thelma Graves; a son, Goebel Devers; four sisters, and a brother are deceased.Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Today, Nov. 9, at the Duell-Clark

Clifford Wayne Devine, 42, of Lexington, husband of Ada Holden Devine, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2001.
Born in Woodford County, he was the son of Eugene Devine Sr. and the late Mary Katherine Williams Devine.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by six sisters, Barbara Morton, Dorothy Schooler, Diane Demus, Genelle Devine, Anita
Devine, and Teresa "Bertha" Lail; three brothers, Eugene Devine Jr., Charles Devine, and Jimmy Holden Jr.; and several nieces and nephews,
including Keeaira Lail, whom he loved as a daughter.Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at
the Highlands Baptist Church, Lexington. Interment will follow at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, Nov. 30, at the Steele
Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jimmy Holden Jr., Ernest Lail, Jeremiah Morton, Wallace Morton Jr., Scott Staples, and Sammy Allen.
Honorary bearers will be his football teammates from the 1978 WCHS graduating class.

A native of Woodford County, he was the son of the late Charles and Fannie Devine and a member of the First Baptist Church, Versailles.
Survivors include five daughters, Barbara Morton and Dorothy Schooler, Lexington, and Genelle and Anita Devine, and Diane Demus, all of Versailles;
two sons, Eugene Devine Jr., Lexington, and Charles Devine, Versailles; 19 grandchildren; 18, great-grandchildren; a niece, Pearl C. Higgins; and a
numerous cousins and other relatives.
Services were conducted Friday, May 14, 2004,, at the First Baptist Church. O.L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Franklin County, he was the son of the late Olympus and Ollie McDonald Donovan.
Survivors include a son, William Charles Donovan, Frankfort; three daughters, Joyce Blackwell and Brenetta Donovan, both of Frankfort, and
Hope Sudduth, Versailles; a brother, Bobby Donovan, Frankfort; a sister, Ruth Dunaway, Covington; three grandchildren, and a
great-grandchild.Services were conducted at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel, Frankfort,
at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, by the Rev. Everett Hawkins. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County. VFW Post 4075 conducted
military rites. Active casket bearers were members of the American Legion Post and close friends were honorary bearers. Donations may be
made to the Franklin County Hospice of the Bluegrass.

Nancy Moss Dunlap, widow of William Ernest Dunlap of Woodford County, died Friday, May 14, 2004.
Born in Bardstown, she was the daughter of the late John
Edwin and Lillian Daugherty Moss. She attended and graduated from Ward-Belmont Junior College, in Nashville, Tenn.; then attended and graduated from
University of Kentucky and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a member of Park United Methodist Church, serving on the administrating
board. She was president of the Women's Society of Christian Service, with the Nancybelle Circle being named after her. While living in Clinton, Tenn., she was president
of the Woman's Club, a volunteer reader for the blind in Oak Ridge and served 25 years as a volunteer at Oak Ridge Hospital. She was voted outstanding woman by the
Clinton Jaycetts. After her husband's death in 1985, she returned to Lexington and lived at Richmond Place Retirement Center.
Survivors include a son, John Amnon Glass; eight grandchildren, John Amnon Glass, II, James Clay Glass and Michele Glass, all of Florida, and Shawn Allen Glass,
William Edwin Glass, Brandon Glass, Jenny Lyn Glass, and Christopher Robert Glass, all of Georgia. Her first husband, Donald Hays Glass, is deceased.
Services were conducted Tuesday, May 18, 2004, at W.R. Milward Mortuary-Broadway by the Rev. Mike Allen. Burial was in the Pisgah Cemetery.

Darrell Edwards, all of Versailles, and Roger Edwards, Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Georgia Conyers, Versailles, and Lottie Riley, Cincinnati,

Richard H. Eustice

Richard H. "Ric" Eustice, 69, of 118 Queensway, Versailles, husband of Shirley Marie Olson Eustice, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000.
Born in Galena, Ill., he was the son of the late Harry and Luella Eustice. Mr. Eustice served in the U.S. Army for more than 12 years, attaining
the rank of sergeant first class. He was an electronics technician and received Green Beret training at Fort Knox, Ky.
He entered the service on March 20, 1950, at age 18. During the Korean War, which began in June of that year, he was awarded several military
honors, including the Silver Star for action at the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, where he was wounded, and was awarded the Purple Heart and
several other medals. In addition to Korea, his overseas service included Japan, Germany, England, Ireland and Hawaii.
In addition to his wife of 47 years, Mr. Eustice is survived by three sisters, Eileen Andrews, Levittown, Pa., and Shirley Diveley and Karen
Powell, both of Danville, Ill.; two sons, Terry Lee Eustice, Little Rock, Ark., and Larry James Eustice, Versailles; four grandchildren,
Richard L. and William J. Eustice, Little Rock, and Joey and Melissa Eustice, Alabama, and several nieces and nephews.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles.
Interment was in Rose Crest Cemetery, Versailles. Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, Kentucky Affiliate, 745

Albertia Blankenship Wilson. She was a homemaker and secretary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Larry W.

Kincaid, Frankfort, and Elizabeth Rogers, Lexington; nine sons, Cecil Florian, Versailles; Dallas Florian and John Florian, both of
Nicholasville; Joseph Florian, Harrodsburg; Phillip Florian, Frankfort; Mark Florian and Jimmy Florian, both of Lawrenceburg; and Bobby Florian
and Kevin Florian, both of Lexington; two sisters, Katherine Chasteen and Artheles Sturgeon, both of Versailles; 38 grandchildren; 46
great-grandchildren; and 26 nieces and nephews. A daughter, Shelby Jean Rogers; a son, Delbert Florian, and a sister and three brothers are
deceased.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today, Dec. 28, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens,

Born in Ashland, N.H., he was the son of the late William and Delia Marie Brazeau Forrest. He was married to the late Arah Arnold
Forrest, who died in 1984, and is survived by his present wife, Ruth C. Forrest, Nicholasville.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Roger Forrest, is deceased.

Versailles, Ky., Jan. 14 - Mr. William Hawkins
Graves, aged 82 years, only Mexican veteran in Versailles, died of
heart disease,
from which he has long suffered, at the residence of his daughter, Mrs.
Herbert Avery, of Chicago, last night, where he had been
visiting since shortly after Thanksgiving.
The sad intelligence came in a
message from his daughter, Mrs. George Chrisman, of Jessamine,
to friends here. He was the son
of Rueben and Betsy Cox Graves, and was born at the old
homestead, now the Joe Seller farm, on the Nicholasville
Road. He was a veteran of the Mexican War
of 1846, enlisting here in Versailles in Tom Marshall's company. He is
survived by his widow, who was Miss Kittie Scott, the
daughter of Hervy Scott, prominent citizen of J
essamine, and four daughters, Mrs. George Chrisman, of
Nicholasville; Mrs. Herbert Avery, Mrs. John Warfield,
of Chicago, and Mrs. Chester Ayres, of New York.
He was a prominent farmer, an elder
for 13 years in the Presbyterian Church, and was very actively
interested in all church affairs.
The funeral party accompanying Mr.
Graves' body will arrive in Lexington Friday noon, and will
come here on a special interurban car, reaching the
Presbyterian Church, where the services will be held, at 2 o'clock.
Rev. Gelon Rout will officiate, and the interment will be in
the family lot in the Versailles Cemetery.
The pall-bearers will be Messrs: D.B. Price, Joe Minary, W.O. Davis,
Dr. A.J.A. Alexander, John Rout, and Field McLeod.
