Curtis L. Veatch

Curtis L. Veatch, 87, of Lexington, formerly of Woodford County, widower of Elizabeth Haydon Veatch, died Thursday, May 13, 2004.
Born July 15, 1916, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Leslie H. and Katherine Baxter Veatch. He was a farmer and former employee of Olson Gas 
Company for many years, and was a member of the Clear Creek Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include two nieces, Katherine DeBold, Versailles, and Betty Mason, Frankfort; five great nieces and nephews, Tami DeBold, Nicholasville, Darlene Yount and 
Katie Barron, Frankfort, and Jim DeBold and Jason DeBold, Versailles; and several great-great nieces and nephews. His only sister, Mary Belle Coubert, is deceased.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, May 17, 2004, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. Tom Hinkle. Interment was at the 
Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were Stanley Carter, Gregg Centers, Dale Varner, Jim DeBold, and Jason DeBold. Honorary bearer was Jimmy Olson.

 

Donald Wallace

Donald Eugene Wallace, 69, of 104 Loy Street, Versailles, husband of Wanda M. Wallace, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at the Hospice Care 
Center, St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington. A native and lifelong resident of Woodford County, he was a son of the 
late B.T. and Nora Lykins Wallace. He was retired from International Business Machines with over 25 years of service and was a member of the 
Versailles Baptist Church. He often visited the sick and shut-in at area hospitals in Versailles and Lexington. He served four years in the 
U.S. Air Force.  He is survived by two daughters, Pam Jewell, Barbourville, and Sandy Barnett, Versailles; two brothers, Harold Wallace, Versailles, and Jack 
Wallace, Lexington, and four grandchildren, Ochion Jewell, Louisville; Erin Jewell, Barbourville, and Amy and Shannon Barnett, both of 
Versailles.  Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, by the Rev. John Brandon. Interment 
was in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Woodford County. Casket bearers were Mark Barnett, Bradley Kincaid, Bill McGowan, Randy Jewell, 
and Ronnie Nabors. Honorary bearers were Ken Ryley, Charlie Reed, Bill Dawson, Herb Bruce, Bobby Smith, Mark Wallace, and his grandchildren. 
Memorials are suggested to the Horn Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Barbourville, or to the Versailles Baptist Church.

Doyle Ward, 70, of Cedarburg, Wis., formerly of Versailles, husband of Janice M. Barron Ward, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001.
A native of Woodford County, he was the son of the late Raymond and Emma Bartlett Ward.
He is survived by eight children, Terry Brumm, Gordon Ward, Damon Ward, Joanna Koehler, Belinda Ward, Doyle Ward, Christian 
Ward, and Claudia Herlache, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Brent Ward, is deceased.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Burial will be in the 
Versailles Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 11, at the funeral chapel.

Clarence Carl "Chick" Warner, 70, of Versailles, husband of Bertha Lowe Warner, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at the VA Medical Center, 
Leestown Rd., Lexington. Born in High Bridge, he was the son of the late William 0. and Allie 
McGinnis Warner. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Roseanna Doyle, Winchester, and Dixie Hazelwood, Frankfort; three sons, William 
Douglas Warner, Lexington, Estill "Bud" Warner, Versailles, and Robert Lowe, Ft. Wayne, Ind.; 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Burial was in Camp Nelson National 
Cemetery, Jessamine County. Casket bearers were Allen Hazelwood, Danny Warner, Buddy Carl Warner, Joe Warner, George Wilson, and Charles 
Stoker.

George Washington III

George Washington III, 42, of Lexington, formerly of Midway, drowned Saturday, April 1, 2000, in a boating accident on the Kentucky River 
near Lock 6 in Woodford County. He was the husband of Marilyn H. Washington.
A native of Woodford County, he was the son of Lessie M . Washington and the late George Washington Jr. 
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Erin Washington; two grandsons, Marquis Washington and Leon Taylor, 
Lexington; a stepson, Brian Hamilton, and two stepgrandsons, all of Campbell County; three brothers, Jeffery, Timothy and Perry Washington, 
Lexington; a sister, Della F. Washington, Lexington; two nieces; two uncles, and several cousins.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, April 6, at the Pilgrim Baptist Church, Midway, by the Rev. Mikel Robinson. Burial will be in 
the Midway Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today at the church. The O. L. Hughes & Sons Mortuary, Lexington, is in charge of 
arrangements.

Oscar Weber, 76, of Versailles, husband of Mary A. Coyle Weber, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
Born in Jessamine County, he was a son of the late Joe M. and Anna B. Flora Weber. Mr. Weber was a farmer and member of the Versailles 
Baptist Church. He was also a former director and president of the Versailles Lions Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Gay W. Cleveland, Frankfort, and Patty Porter, Versailles; a son, Raymond T. 
Weber, Versailles; a sister, Ella D. Patterson, Versailles; a brother, Joe M. Weber Jr., Versailles; seven grandchildren, Timothy Raymond 
Weber, Matthew Weber, Raymond Douglas Renfro, Kristi Renfro, Shea Porter, Matthew Mullen, and Laura Kirk, and four great-grandchildren, 
Zachary, Joshua, Lauren, and Nathan Weber. A sister, Bertha Lee Boggess, is deceased.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles, by the Rev. John Brandon.

Maxie Wilson Wells, 86, of Versailles, widow of Cecil Wells, died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2002, at the Royal Manor Nursing Home, Nicholasville.
Born in Jessamine County Dec. 14, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Myrtle Patterson Wilson. 
Survivors include a daughter, Daris Evelyn McCoun, Versailles; a son, Wayne Wells, Bardstown; two sisters, Belva Hager, Nicholasville, and Willie Mae Johns, 
Wilmore; two brothers, Milton Wilson, Nicholasville, and Louis Wilson, Lexington; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. A sister, Anna Thompson, is deceased.
Services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery. Casket bearers were Glen Wilson, 
Jeffrey Wells, David McCoun, Bradley Johns, Alan Wilson, and Steve Ogden. Honorary bearers were the deacons of Hillsboro Baptist Church.

Stewart Wells Jr., 62, of Versailles, husband of Betty C. Wells, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his residence.
Born in Nicholasville, he was the son of the late William Stewart wells and Katherine Cross. 
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Mark Wells and Dwayne Wells, both of Lexington; a daughter, Donna Lightfoot, 
Frankfort; three grandchildren, Danielle, Zachary, and Jeremy Wells; and a step-grandson, Josh Southworth.
Services were conducted Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Kerr Brothers Funeral 
Home, Versailles. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Born in Fayette County, Ms. Whitt was the daughter of Rodney and Carol Whitt.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a brother, Darrell Whitt, Versailles; her paternal grandparents, Denzil and Grace Whitt, 
Worthington; and her maternal grandparents, Joe and Ruth Clark, Flatwoods.Services will be conducted Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the Blackburn & 
Ward Funeral Home by the Rev. John Kessell and the Rev. Gene Roberts. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends may

Nancy Ruth Wicke, 67, of Lawrenceburg, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Bluegrass Community Hospital, Versailles.
Born July 1, 1936, in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Richard Wicke and Mary Hughes Wicke. She was a former 
self-employed proprietor and a member of the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.  
Survivors include a brother, Robert Louis Wicke, Louisville; two sisters, Mary Catherine Mulholland, Charlotte, N.C., and Joyce Moore, Versailles; 
and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Alvin Wicke, is deceased.
Services were conducted Saturday, May 15, 2004, at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church by Fr. Charles McDonald. 
Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Hettie Mae Britton Wiley, 85, Georgetown, formerly of Lexington, wife of Stanley Wiley, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000.
Born in Woodford County, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence M. and 
Margaret Holman Britton. A homemaker, she enjoyed needlework, gardening, and fishing. She was a charter member of the Cornerstone 
Baptist Church, Lexington, the Candlelighters Sunday School Class and 
had taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Winchester Road Homemakers and Lexington and Georgetown Homemaker 
clubs.  In addition to her husband of 68 years, she is survived by a daughter, Lou Ann Sorrell, Georgetown; a sister, Louella Britton Hedden, 
Versailles; three grandsons, John Wiley Brown, Kevin Paul Brown and Stanley Dodd Sorrell, and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia 
Wiley Brown, and a grandson, Todd Wilson Sorrell, are deceased.Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Cornerstone 
Baptist Church by the Rev. Foy Back, the Rev. James Lewis, and the Rev. Jim Crum. Interment was in the Lexington Cemetery. Casket bearers were 
John Wiley Brown, Kevin Paul Brown, Stanley Dodd Sorrell, Tommy Littrell, Donald Philpot and Kenneth Shackelford. The W. R. Milward

Center following an illness.He was a native of Fayette County. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Melissa 
Williams, Frankfort; a son, Michael Williams, Beechridge; a sister, Connie Moore, Frankfort; two half-sisters, Rena Kay Traugott and Peggy 
Tipton, Versailles; two half-brothers, Danny Walling and Benny Allen Walling, Versailles; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 
His grandparents, Conway and Pearl Williams, are deceased.Services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at 
LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Mark Moore, Jonathan Moore,

Hospital.Born in Midway Nov. 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Mary Wise Harmon. 
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Donna Cochran, Winchester; a grandson, Kevin Cochran Jr.; step-children 
Priscilla Buckley, Butch Williamson, and Virginia Williamson; four step-grandchildren; a brother, Brad Harmon; and a sister, Betty 
Feebish, Lexington.  Services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Tucker-Yocum & 
Wilson Funeral Home by Bro. Tom Mefford and Bro. James Carr. Burial was in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Casket bearers were Albert Buckley Jr., 
Kevin Cochran, William G. Williamson Jr., Rodney Dunn, Junior Wright, and Lillard Wright.

Nancy Jane Denson Wilson, 79, of Versailles, widow of Oliver Lee Wilson, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at her residence.
Born May 28, 1928, in Lee County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Tina Young Denson. 
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda Crowe, Lisa Posadas, and Shirley Maples, all of  Versailles; four sons, Walter Wilson, Will Wilson, 
and Russell Wilson, all of Versailles, and Rick Wilson, Richmond; a brother, Kenneth Denson, Indiana; 18 grandchildren; and 30 
great-grandchildren. A grandson, Carroll "Smitty" Crews, is deceased.
Services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home by Chaplain Rick 
McClung. Burial was in Rose Crest Cemetery.

Anna J. Winkfield, 86, of Frankfort, formerly of Versailles, widow of Zack Winkfield, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Frankfort Regional 
Medical Center.  She was the daughter of the late Spencer and Mary King Jones.Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A 
sister, Willie Mae Harris; and five brothers, Samuel Hampton Jones, James S. Jones, Mervin E. Jones, George L. Jones, and Norman K. Jones, 
are deceased.  Services were conducted Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at First Baptist Church,  Versailles. Casket bearers were her nephews.
Morgan Funeral Home, Versailles, was in charge of arrangements.

May Eunice Winkfield, of 137 Bell Ave., Versailles, widow of Warren Winkfield, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at St. Joseph Hospital, 
Lexington.  She was a native of Woodford County, a daughter of the late Walter Prentice and Eva Twyman. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, 
Versailles.  Survivors include a daughter, Ella Laney, Spring Dale, Md.; six -grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two nephews and four 
nieces.Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, April 10, at the First 
Baptist Church, Versailles, by the Rev. Floyd Greene. Interment was in 
the Steele Cemetery, Versailles. The Morgan Funeral Home, Versailles, 
was in charge of arrangements.

 

Fulton C. Withrow

Fulton Cecil Withrow, 53, of McCracken Pike, Woodford County, husband of Dorothy McCoy Withrow, died at 12:55 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at 
his residence.  A native of Franklin County, he was the son of the late Marvin Cecil Withrow and Hazel Brooks Withrow. He owned and operated Stone Castle 
Distillery, Millville; was a U. S. Navy veteran of service during the Vietnam War; was president of the KTO Bass Club, Frankfort, and was a 
member of the Guist Creek Bass Masters and the Millville Christian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael Withrow, Frankfort; a sister, Irene Vaughn, Frankfort, and a grandchild.
Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Harrod Brothers Memorial Chapel, Frankfort, by the Rev. Carolton Winters. 
Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Woodford County, where the VFW 
Post 4075 conducted military rites. Active casket bearers were Tommy Fint, Gary Fint, Jimmy Fint, Jerry Gardner, Jimmie Lewis, and Bob 
Robinson. Honorary bearers were Taylor Michelle Withrow, Robert Sims, John Banks, Donnie McCoy, Lon Whitson, R. L. Marshall, Curt Curtis, and 
M. D. Wells.

Frances Thomas Witt, 86, of Lexington, widow of Jack Witt Sr., died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002.
Born in Midway, she was the daughter of Henry Fristo and Rosa Huffman Thomas. Survivors include two sons, Jack Witt Jr. and Ronald L. Witt, both of 
Lexington; four grandchildren, Keith Witt, Michael Witt, and Brian Witt, all of Texas, and Lisa Plummer, North Carolina; eight great 
grandchildren, Elizabeth, Erin, Ethan, Emily, Zachary, Taylor, Justin and Jackie; and two nephews, Julian Witt and Robert Witt. Four brothers 
and a sister are deceased.Services were conducted Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at W.R. Milward Mortuary 
- Broadway. Interment was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County. Casket bearers were her grandsons, and Brett Plummer, Bobby 
Witt, Julian Witt, and Joe Dowdy. Honorary bearers were her caregivers.Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312

Helen E. Witt, 72, of Lexington, widow of Gilbert H. Witt Jr., died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2001, at her residence.
Born in Midway, she was the daughter of the late Amos and Effie Garrett Sanders. 
Survivors include a son, Billy Ray Witt Sr., Lexington; two daughters, Glenda Meyer and Vickie Jones, both of Lexington; two brothers, Floyd 
Sanders, Texas, and Clifton Sanders, California; five grandchildren, Beth Ward, Rosie Hall, Billy Witt Jr., Chris Slagle, and Linsey Jones; 
four step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and 13 step great grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at W.R. Milward Mortuary - Southland. Burial will be in Blue Grass 
Memorial Gardens, Jessamine County. Casket bearers will be Chris Slagle, Jonathan Witt, George and Danny McQuinn, and Eric Witt. Friends 
may call from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, Jan. 3, and from noon to the service tomorrow.

 

Henry G. Witten

Henry G. Witten, 75, of Versailles, who served for 18 years as a Versailles City Councilman, husband of Edna Mann Witten, died Sunday March 19, 2006, at his residence. 
Born Oct. 27, 1930, in Millerstown, he was the son of the late Hugh and Clara Smith Witten. In an article published in the Nov. 5, 1981, issue of The Sun, Witten told of his mother’s death in 
1936 and how, three years later, his father abandoned him and his brother and sister. The three were brought to and raised at the Methodist Home in Versailles.
During his junior and senior years at Versailles High School, Mr. Witten was among a number of Methodist Home residents to excel at sports. He played quarterback on the football team, guard 
on the basketball team, and shortstop and pitcher on the baseball team.
Mr. Witten joined the Navy in 1950 and traveled to the induction center, only to be rejected due to a lung problem.
Mr. Witten was a retired Kroger Company employee.  He became interested in local politics through his contacts with former councilman — and later 
mayor — Paul Noel. He was concerned that efforts to stifle growth in Woodford County would have negative consequences.
Mr. Witten was an avid and talented golfer, and was a member of the Versailles United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Marsha Rose, Versailles; two sons, Kenny 
Witten, Versailles, and Dennis Witten, Lexington; a sister, Elaine Teller, Chicago; four 
grandchildren, Wayne, Justin and Steven Rose, and Trevor Smoot.
No services are planned. Clark Funeral Home, Rose Hill, was in charge of arrangements.

 

K. Lucile Woodyard

K. Lucile Thompson Woodyard, 96, of Lexington, formerly of Versailles, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Mayfair Manor Nursing Home.She was 
born Sept. 11, 1905, at Pinckard, where her parents, the late Nathaniel and Grace Newman Thompson, had a small grocery and where her father was 
a rural mail carrier. At age 16, her family moved to 134 Montgomery Avenue in Versailles.A 1923 graduate of Versailles High School and a 
1929 graduate of the University of Kentucky with a 4.0 standing, she had been a teacher at Versailles Elementary School. She attended summer 
school at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, where she met her future husband, the late W. E. Woodyard. In Ohio, she raised her three 
children while she and her husband farmed. She returned to Versailles, to the same house on Montgomery Ave., in 1959, where she became the 
caregiver for her mother. In 1961, she began teaching at Mortonsville School and was a homebound teacher until her retirement.Survivors 
include three children, Mary Grace Spilman, Collegeville, Pa.; Katherine Kane, Lexington; a son, James N. Woodyard, Nocent, Texas; 
three grandchildren, Mark Spilman, Collegeville; Jared Woodyard and Jason Woodyard, both of Dallas, Texas; a stepgranddaughter, Esther 
Kane, Vancouver, B.C., Canada; and two great-granddaughters. A sister, Lenore, and a grandson, Jamie Spilman, are deceased.Services will be 
conducted at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 4, 2001, at the Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles. Interment will be in the Versailles Cemetery. 
Casket bearers will be Charles Devine, Don Hackney, Larry Ragland, Tom Brown, Jarod Woodyard, and Mark Spilman. Friends may call after noon 
today at the funeral home.

Mr. Charlie Woolums, 73, of 2945 S. Webster Street, Denver, CO, formerly of Harrodsburg, died at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 1994,
at his son's residence in Lakewood, CO. Born January 27, 1921 in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Charles and Elizabeth 
Woolums. He was an Army veteran of World War II and retired from Corning Glass Works, Harrodsburg, in 1978 before moving to Colorado.
Survivors include: his wife, Gisèle (Bonnie) LeNogues Woolums, Denver; a (step)son, Robert L. Woolums, Lakewood, CO; a sister, Agnes Johnson, 
Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Marc, Kevin and Timothy Woolums and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., 
Thursday, December 8, at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Lakewood, CO. Burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Sheridan, CO.

Donald W. Woolums, 60, of Richmond, Indiana, died September 8, 2000 at his residence. Born in Versailles, he was a son of the late 
Juel and Rosa Wiram Woolums. He lived in Richmond for 32 years, was a U. S. Army veteran, and attended the Central Baptist Church. 
Survivors are his wife of 36 years, Joyce A. Phillips; a daughter, Amanda Woolums of Richmond; three sons, Michael, Ricky, and Waddill 
Woolums, all of Richmond; three granddaughters; three grandsons; a sister, Betty Pearson of Connersville; and a brother, Waddill Woolums 
of Lexington. Four sisters and three brothers are deceased. Services were conducted September 12 at the Doan and Mills Funeral Home. Burial 
was in Earlham Cemetery.

Dec 14 1963; one daughter, Amanda Woolums of Richmond; three sons, Michael, Ricky, and Waddill Woolums all of Richmond; one sister, Betty 
Pearson of Connersville; one brother Waddill Woolums of Lexington; three granddaughters, three grandsons, nieces and nephews. He was 
preceeded in death by his parents, four sisters and three brothers. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Richmond. Burial will be at Earlham 
Cemetery where a military graveside service will be conducted.

son, she is survived by five sons, James, Howard, Omer, Jewell, and Harry Woolums; four daughters, Mrs. J W Lyons, Mrs Ed Braden, Mrs 
Jasper Tate, and Mrs W L Tate; 41 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and three brothers. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery.

Elmer L. Woolums, 80, of Frankfort, Ky., died Saturday at Bradford Square Health Care Center in Frankfort. Born February 13, 1913 in 
Franklin County; he was the son of the late J. I. and Bessie Hayden Woolums; the widower of Rosa Sorrell Woolums; and a member 
of Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Bramer, Frankfort, Mrs. Georgia McIntyre, Stanford, Mrs.

Elmer Lee Woolums Jr., 58, of Lawrenceburg, died July 29 at Woodford Hospital. A native of Woodford County, he was the son of the late 
Elmer L. Woolums and Rosa Lee Sorrell Woolums; a member of the Midway Baptist Church; and served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean 
Conflict.   Survivors are two daughters, Rose Marie Snyder and Elizabeth Ann Woolums, both of Lexington; a sister, Clara L. Hawkins, Lawrenceburg, 
and several grandchildren. A half-sister, Marcella Frances Pickard, is deceased. Burial in Midway Cemetery, Midway, Ky.

Goldie Mae Woolums, 4 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Omer Woolums, died Tuesday morning at the Woodford Memorial 
hospital. The child submitted to a double mastoid operation Oct. 28. The parents and a sister, Adeline Woolums, survive. Funeral services, 
conducted by the Rev. W. G. Hammock, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The burial will take place in the Versailles cemetery.

Harry Woolums Sr., 68, resident of Laval Heights, Versailles, passed away Tuesday at the Homestead Nursing home in Lexington after a long
illness. He was a native of Owen County, a retired farmer, a member of the Glenn Creek Baptist and the Versailles Knights of Pythias Lodge.

John Irvin Woolums, 95, died October 29, 1987 at King's Daughters Hospital, Frankfort.
A Franklin County native and oldest member of Buck Run Baptist Church, 
he was the husband of the late Bessie Hayden Woolums and son of the 
late John and Dolly O'Neal Woolums. Survivors are five daughters, Ann

Versailles - Service for Kenneth Paul Woolums Sr., 60, Frankfort, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home here.
He died Thursday morning at King's Daughters Memorial Hospital after an illness. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was a retired state maintenance worker, a Woodford Countynative and member of Millville Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Frances C Woolums; one daughter,Brenda J Davis, Denton, Texas; three sons, Kenneth P Woolums, Jr., Frankfort; Phillip P Sayre, Chevy Chase, 
Maryland and Wayne K Sayre, Lesisngton; a sister, Mrs Howard Agnes Johnson, Spanaway, Wash; a brother, Charles Woolums, Lakewood, Colorado; a half 
brother, Carlos Sams, Millville; four grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. The Rev Mike Hamrick will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Bearers were Tim, Ronnie, Johnny and Mike Sams, Zachary and Gregory Means.

William C. "Buck" Woolums, 84, of Versailles, widower of Minnie Frances Woolums, died Thursday at Woodford Hospital. Born in Scott County he 
was the son of the late William Howard and Martha Kidwell Woolums. He was a retired farmer and member of Versailles Baptist Church. Survivors

Sandra Witt Yalkut, 61, of 3716 Salisbury Drive, Westmorland, Lexington, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at her home.
A native of Strawberry Plains, Tenn., she was a daughter of the late Paul and Nita Evelyn McDannel Witt. She was an active member of the 
Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Woodford County, and had been active with the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Fikret T. Yalkut, a longtime Versailles physician; four sons, Tony Yalkut, Indianapolis, Ind., Jim 
Yalkut and Erol Yalkut, both of Lexington, and Denis Yalkut M.D., Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Marjorie Smart, Cummings, Ga., and Joan 
Harte, Atlanta, Ga.; and a brother, Gordon Witt, Strawberry Plains.Services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the Pisgah 
Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Mike Ward. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Mrs. Yalkut’s sons, her 
brother, and a nephew, Randy Witt. The Blackburn & Ward Funeral Home, Versailles, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to

Born in Franklin County on Jan. 21, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Will and Elizabeth Bryant Goddard. 
She is survived by a daughter, Jeanette Dunavent, Florida; a sister, Elizabeth Goddard, Louisville; seven grandchildren, and 18 
great-grandchildren. A daughter, Dorsey Markwell, and a granddaughter, Helen Withers, are deceased.
Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at the Duell-Clark Funeral Chapel, Versailles. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 
Woodford County. Casket bearers were Kerry Markwell, Steve Richardson, Wayne "Muskie" Lay, Ralph Lay, Tony Field, Paul Markwell, Scott 
Richardson, and Mark Richardson. Honorary bearers were Steve Blacketer, Jonathan Withers, Adam Soard, and Vernon Withers.

Born in Richmond, he was a son of the late John D. and Charlotte Stone Young and was a retired excavator.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Kessler Young, St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Mark 0. Young, Oklahoma; two sisters, 
Marion Wayne Young, Versailles, and Jean Robinson, Lexington; two brothers, Darrel Young and Paul Young, both of Versailles; three 
grandchildren, and a niece. A son, Matthew Young, is deceased.Services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at the
