Campbell, rdcampbell16@comcast.net Posted 06/07/09 Thomas / Hardwick
I am interested in these two
families who lived in the County from about 1799 through 1840. They came
from Buckingham County, Virginia.
My ancestor, Robert Thomas, a Revolutionary War veteran, died in 1830 and he was appointed Sheriff of the County in 1812. His father, John Thomas, died in 1807 and his mother, Anne, died in 1812. Is there a cemetery in Adair County with Thomases? The Thomas family lived on the north side of the Green River between Neatsville and the Casey County line. [There is a Thomastown Cemetery in Casey County, but that cemetery contains the family of Hardin Thomas, brother to Robert.] I had extensive searches done on my families by Ruth Burdette in 1969. She is now deceased. Also my ancestor, Thomas Hardwick, died in 1807 in the County. Looking for a Hardwick cemetery in Adair County. Any help would be appreciated. Posted 05/16/09 Cook I am looking for a connection to my GGG Grandfather Daniel Cook who was born abt. 1808 in KY. He bought land in Clifty Creek in 1835 which would have been Adair Co. when he was a child - assuming he stayed in the same area. (Clifty Creek is now located in present day Russell County, close to the towns of Freedom & Sewellton, KY)Kentucky Land Grants - Cook, Daniel, Russell Co., 50 Acres, Survey Date: December 23, 1835. Book K-2, Watercourse: Clifty Cr.
Daniel's ancestors came from Germany and at some point changed their
name from Koch to Cook (I know this from DNA). I'm curious as to what
churches the German settlers attended in that area in the early 1800's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave Cook

I have been looking for Mamie Harriet
Harvey's biological mother for some time. Her father is Samuel Francis
Harvey b. 1867. He eventually married Martha Belle Wheat in 1909. However,
because Martha Belle's birthday is in 1891 and Mamie Harriet's is in 1894,
Martha Belle was obviously her STEP mother. I have Sam Frank in the census
of 1870, 1880, 1910, 1920, and 1930..............but NOT 1900. Do you have
any knowledge or information on this problem? Thanks, Chris Pate

He was later married to Rachel Elizabeth England in 1865 also in Adair county. He also fought in the civil war. He later moved to Metcalfe county. I have found him in several censuses, one of which he was living with Jacob Cooley Reece. All of the documents that I have state that his parents were unknown. His wife also took him to court after he deserted her in 1908. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Corey Reece creece@amneal.com Posted 11/23/08Martin
