January 13, 1904 Mrs. Nancy J. Bridgewater died on the 19th day of December, 1903, after an illness of about three weeks. She was born in Adair county, Ky., September 10th, 1835. She was married to P.H. Bridgewater, May 9, 1853, and was the mother of ten children, seven children and her husband survive her, four sons and three daughters. Two sons are living in Louisville, Ky., one in Indian Territory, and one in Green county, Ky., and three daughters all in Adair county, Mrs. Champ Butler, and two single daughters who live with their father, all of whom were at their mother's bedside when the end came. except the son in Indian Territory. Mrs. Bridgewater's maiden name was Bailey, a granddaughter of Squire James Page, and only child of S.W. Bailey, who died in her infancy. She was baptized and joined the Christian church at the early age of fourteen, of which she was a constant and consistent member up to her death. She was a kind mother and affectionate wife... She had many friends and no enemies... [and] will not only be missed by her family but by the community at large where she lived. /s/ B. Mr. Page was noted as being her guardian when, at the age of 19, on the date given above, she married Mr. Patrick H. Bridgewater, age 20.] |
