W. P. Epperson

The subject of this sketch was born and reared in Adair county, and for several [years] he was a young business man of Columbia, having been a clerk in Mr. A. Gilmer's store, and subsequently a partner of Mr. J.O. Russell in the mercantile business. He left Columbia about eighteen years ago, going to Texas. Remaining in Texas several years he removed to Missouri where he was residing at the time of his death, which occurred the 12th of December, 1899. He was afflicted with typhoid fever and was sick several weeks, receiving the best attention.

The deceased was about forty years old and leaves a wife and two children. He was a nephew of Mr. J.J. Epperson, who lives near Montpelier, and when he left Columbia there was not a more popular young man in Adair county. Nearly everyone knew "Pete" Epperson, and the intelligence of his death will be received with sadness.

[In 1880, Mr. Epperson resided in the A. Gilmer household. In the 1860 census, he appeared as William P. Epperson, a four-month-old infant in the Charles F. & Martha A. Epperson household (District # 2, HH #  358).]
