Dear father and mother, sister and brother, I take this pleasant opportunity to drop you a few lines to let you know that I am well at this time, and I do hope and trust in God that these few lines may come to your hands and find you all enjoying the same like blessing for I am a going to send some money home to you. I will send 20 dollar bills, 20 dollars, for Dick. Both of us have a been well ever since we left Columbia - The paper says that the main Army has taken 96,000, thousand, Rebels since the first day of July, besides several that haven't been counted in.

Dear company, I take my pen in hand to write you a few lines to let you
know that I am well at this time, and I hope when these few lines come to hand, they may find you well and doing well. I haven't got much to write at this time. I have to send some money home in the letter. The days is all well at this time. We are at Cave City on the rail road. I hope that we will be back at Columbia before long. I want you to [write] me if you get this money. Direct your letters to Co 'B' 13th Ky. Vol. Inft., 2nd Brigade in Division 23 Army Corps in care of Col. Wm E. Hobson. Here is 20 dollars that I send to you. Take it and make use of it if you want to.
