"Dr. Thomas E. Baker, of Amandaville, Cumberland county,
Ky., died at 3 o'clock a.m., May 22, 1896.
"The subject of this sketch was born on Big Creek, in Adair county, Ky.,
Nov. 3rd 1828, and was consequently 67 years, 6 months and 19 days old. He
studied medicine while a young man and located at Amandaville, in this county,
to practice his profession where he shortly afterwards married Sarah K. Rowe, a
daughter of the late James L. Rowe, decd., a wealthy and influential citizen of
this county, and was a successful [sic] practitioner for 41 years in the same
community. He was for a long time a contributor to the Columbia Spectator under
the nom de plume of "Primo", and his letters were always read with
much enjoyment. He was a consistent member of the Christian church for a number
of years prior to his death, and although he was sick in bed for about five
months preceding his death he was [sic] never heard to murmur, but bore his
affliction with patience and fortitude and died in the triumphs of the Christian
faith. He leaves a wife, one daughter and three sons to mourn their loss."

The 'Russell County News'
September 13, 1945
in the Sano community newsletter
The death angel visited the home of Mrs. Emma Blair Monday morning,
Sept. 3, and claimed her brother, Will Edd Eubanks, age 74 years. He was
a native of Adair county and belonged to the family which first settled
in Columbia 163 years ago. He was a member of the Baptist church at
White Oak, joined at the age of 50. He was kind to everyone whom he met
and was liked by all. He was married three times, all his wives
preceding him to the grave. Since then the deceased has been with his
sister. He has a son, two sisters and three brothers. He will be greatly
missed by all, and we all extend our sympathy to all. The funeral was
held at Sano church September 6, with burial at Ozark.

The 'Russell County News'
Thursday, March 23, 1944
(in the 'West Russell Springs' community newsletter)
This community was greatly shocked Saturday morning when the news was
spread about the death of Mrs. Myrtie Rooks, wife of Garfield Rooks, who
died suddenly Friday night at her home in this part near Sinclair's
Store. The father and children have our sympathy. The remains were laid
to rest at Freedom church near Bailey's store on Sunday evening. Funeral
was conducted by Rev. Everett Bryant and Rev. J.L. Kimbler with M.L.
Grissom [Funeral Home] in charge of the remains. This mother has two
boys in the armed services, one across who could not be at the funeral
of his mother. The other boy was present.
Transcriber's notes: The KY death record abstracts indicate Mrs. Rooks
died on March 11, 1944; that she was 50 years of age; that her middle
initial was L.; and that she was a resident of and died in Adair Co. The
transcription of her grave marker in 'Cemeteries of Adair County,
Kentucky', Volume 3, gives her death date as March 18, 1944.
The 'Russell County News'
Thursday, February 22, 1945
in the West Russell Springs community newsletter
Alley Harmon passed away at his home near Purdy
church February 6. The
funeral was held Feb. 8 at Bethel church by Rev. O.C. Reese, with burial
in the Bethlehem cemetery. Stotham and Cheatham funeral home, Columbia,
was in charge of the remains. The bereaved family has our sympathy in
the loss of a dear husband and father, but we shall meet again where no
storm clouds gather by the river of life.
Transcriber's notes: The KY death record abstracts indicate Mr. Alley
was 65 year of age; that he was a resident of Adair Co.; and that he
died in Adair County. Bethel church, also known as Bethlehem church, and
Bethlehem cemetery are adjacent; they are in Russell County, just inside
the Adair-Russell County line. The funeral home was Stotts (not Stotham)
and Cheatham.

The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Finis Pike and
claimed as its victim their dear baby girl, Brenda Kay, age one year,
three months and eight days. She was born November 2, 1943, died
Saturday, February 10, 1945. She had been sick about six days but was
taken worse Friday night. She was taken to Dr. McClendon at Russell
Springs. He said she had diphtheria. She only lived about two hours
after she got home. She was a sweet little girl and will be missed by
the family and friends. She leaves father, mother, two brothers, Morris
and Tommie Pike of Sano, six sisters, one brother-in-law, two
grandmothers, one grandfather, and other relatives to mourn her passing.
The girls all came home Sunday to attend the funeral at Gooden Cross
roads.
Transcriber's notes: The KY death record abstracts indicate Brenda was a
