Health of this community is very good at present.
Sorghum making and fodder saving is the occupation of most of our
farmers.
Bro. Huffaker filled his appointment at Pleasant Hill last Sunday.
Mr. C.C. Rowe, who has been confined to his bed for several weeks, is no
better.
Mrs. Graham Davidson, Burnside, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.A.
Bradshaw, this place, last week.
The ice cream supper given by Pleasant Hill school last Friday night was
very well attended. All reported a nice time and perfect order remained
throughout the evening.
Misses Velonia [and] Elvira Reece are visiting relatives at Breeding and
Toria this week.
Mr. Carl Helm, our efficient mechanic, and Miss Ellie Wheat, Esto,
surprised their friends on the 10th. inst., by going to Jeffersonville
(Ind.), where they were quietly married. [Carl was the son of George W.
Helm & Malissa Kean Helm. "Miss Ellie" (Ella) was the daughter of Lennie
O. Wheat and Tinie Ellen Williams Wheat. Carl and Ella's time together
was destined to be tragically short. He died on September 8, 1927, two
days before their first wedding anniversary, from complications of
typhoid fever.]
One of our old citizens, Mr. T.J. Epperson, and family, of Columbia,
visited his old home last Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Sam Coffey purchased from Mrs. W.W. Kirtley, her farm which is known
as the U.L. Antle farm. Consideration unknown.
Mr. Clifton Yarberry, who has been employed in Argo, Ill., reached home
a few days ago to be at the bedside of his grandfather, Mr. C.C. Rowe.
Miss Corinne Bradshaw accompanied her grandmother, Mrs. Mary Young,
back to her home, Dayton, Ohio. Corinne will visit her grandmother for
several months.
