March 27, 1901
Albert Allen, who lived in the eastern portion of [Adair] county, and
who left his wife and five children several months ago, taking a Miss
McGaha with him, has been heard from. He is in Clay county, Tennessee,
and is living with Miss McGaha as his wife. Allen is a hard-shell
Baptist preacher, and was frequently in the pulpit before leaving this
county.

G.T. Flowers arrested a man at Gradyville last Monday, supposed to be
Albert Allen, who deserted his family in this county several years ago.

Rev. Albert Allen, who has been located near Nashville, Tenn., for the
past three years, made his appearance last Friday night for the first
time since his departure. He left a wife and six children upon the mercy
of the people. We learn since his return he has been arrested in
Columbia.

In 1900, Albert H. Allen, 31, wife Lucy, 33, and five of their children
(Luther T., Mary L., John A., Eli C., and Edna A.) lived in the Little
Cake precinct of Adair County. The 1900 census record indicated Mrs.
Allen was the mother of seven children, six of whom were living.
