A Divorce: Browning v. Browning

The case of Josephine Browning against J.C. Browning, was heard and determined in the Adair circuit court, on last Friday, by Judge W.W. Jones. It will be remembered that this was a suit brought by Mrs. Browning against her husband for a divorce, and for $1,660 dollars--allegedly furnished to him during the time of their marriage. We know nothing of the merits of the case, but it resulted in Mrs. Browning recovering a judgment granting her a divorce from the bonds of matrimony, the custody of the child, and a judgment against Mr. Browning for the sum of $1,000 and the cost of the suit, and restoring her to her maiden name, Josephine Rowe.

Browning, son, born September, 1898. The 1880 Adair Co. census indicates Josephine was the granddaughter of Zach T. Rowe.]
