The Adair County News, August 1, 1900 (no headline) "Aunt" Sally Bryant, who lived near the Russell Springs and Columbia road, six miles from this place, died last Friday. She was 84 years old, and had been in poor health for several months. She was a lady much respected by her neighbors. The Adair County News, August 15, 1901 Obituary On Friday evening, July 27, the angel of death entered our community and claimed for its victim one of our oldest and best beloved members--Mrs. Sally Bryant. She was born May 12, 1816. She was married to David Bryant about 68 years ago* and to them were born twelve children, all of whom are living but one... She was a good mother and grandmother, always giving good advice. She was dearly loved by her children and her cheerful voice will be missed and her deeds of kindness long be remembered by every one in the community. The funeral services were conducted by Revs. Breeding and Murrell afterwhich the remains were interred in the family burying ground to await the resurrection of the just. [* An entry in Adair County Kentucky Marriage Records 1802-1840, compiled by the Adair County Genealogical Society, Columbia, Ky., 1998, p 10, reads thus: "B riant, David and Sally Grider, dau. of James Grider. Bond dated 6 Jan. 1833." Eleven of their 12 children were (from the 1850 & 1860 census records, in birth order): John, Jasper, James, Peter, Thomas J., Milton, Martha A., David, Henry, Edmund, & Sarah E. ]
