Big City Ways Come To Columbia!

Mr. and Mrs. E. [Everett] Campbell and son, who have been living in Louisville for several months, have returned to Columbia to make their home and are living at the Forrest Willis place on Jamestown Street.

Mr. Campbell states that he is looking for a business opening here and if he can find one expects to make Columbia his permanent home. Their many friends are delighted that they have returned.

September 24, 1941: E. Campbell Buys Grocery

E. Campbell has bought the Isaacs Grocery, on Jamestown St., which he formerly owned and is once again in business at his old stand.

Ocotber 29, 1941: E. Campbell Erecting New Grocery Building

Mr. E. Campbell is having a new grocery super-market constructed on Jamestwon Street directly on front of Highway 80, which he states will be one of the most modern and up-to-date groceries of this city when completed. The building is being built of concrete blocks and the interior plan calls for a new self-service store, something new in Columbia.

Mr. Campbell hopes to open his new grocery in time to take care of the Christmas business.

December 31, 1941: E. Campbell Opening New Self Service Store

Announcement is made in this issue of the opening of the first self service store in Columbia by E. Campbell, on Jamestown Street. The business now occupies a new building which Mr. Campbell recently erected on a lot facing Highway 80, and the formal opening is set for Monday, Janaury 5.

Mr. Campbell states that the store has been completely stocked with new goods and said that those who do not like to serve themselves will be taken care of by competent clerks.
