Found in the Harrod's Fork community newsletter printed in the December 7th, 1898 Adair County News:

R. G. Turner, son of George W. Turner, who was reported had joined the army, and died Camp Thomas last July, made his return last Saturday week, and on last Tuesday night stole Miss Daisy Akin, daughter of Dick Akin, and went to Tennessee and got married.

He wasn't as near dead as people thought.
