Don't Let Your Stock Out

The Board of Trustees of the Town of Columbia passed an ordinance the first Monday night in this month [Feb. 3rd], which requires that all hogs, stears, horses, cows, calves mules and other live stock be kept off the streets, and the Marshall is required to emannel all stock running at large. Cows, giving milk, are exempted between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. This ordinance is now enforce [sic], and if the Marshall should get your stock it will cost you 50 cents to have same delivered to you. Fair warning.

Owners of Cows, Attention

Two weeks ago the municipal board passed a stock ordinance which was published in the News at that time. It directed that all stock must be kept up, excepting milch cows and that they were not to be molested from 6 a.m. 6 p.m. As a result, the cows owned in the town have taken possession of the city cemetery and are doing a great deal of damage, the fence being down to give way for a walk that is being made. Hence, at the next meeting of the board an ordinance will become law requiring all stock to be kept up, including cows.

The walk along the pike fronting the cemetery will probably be completed this week. It will be a very necessary improvement, and for it thanks are due the Municipal Board.
