Martin Wheet, 83, died at his home here Monday, June 7, following a
paralytic stroke suffered the Saturday before.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Tom Tomlin, Cave Ridge; Mrs.
Curt Roach, Mrs. Gid Jessee, and Maggie Wheet, all of Chicago; two sons,
Luther wheat and Roy Wheat, of this place.
Funeral services were held by Rev. J.W. Barton at Antioch Church in
Casey County, on Wed-nesday, with interment in the cemetery at that place.
[Transcriber's note: There isn't a grave marker in Antioch
cemetery for Mr. Wheat. His father was B.C.W. Wheat, a Civil War veteran who
died in 1870.]

Mrs. Mary Lucy Wheat, who was the widow of Dr. Wheat, died at Glenville
last Thursday night. She was a daughter of Mr. Sidney Helm, and was about 65
years old. Dr. W.B. Helm, of Greens-burg, was her brother. She was a very
estimable lady, and had been in declining health for some time.
A large number of relatives and friends attended the funeral and
burial.

note: Mrs. Wheat was buried at the Helm cemetery near Glensfork (then
known as Glenville), Adair County. Her husband was William D. Wheat
(1853-1890), the son of William Wheat & Mary Akin Robinson. The elder
William was the son of John Wheat & Sarah Hudson of Green County KY.

Wheat Died Last Monday
Mr. William Henderson Wheat, 79, prominent retired farmer of this
county, died at his home at Sano, on Monday, September 9 [1946]. Mr.
Wheat, who was the son of Griffin B. and Mary Wheat, had been in failing health
for several years.
He was a successful farmer of the Sano community and a member of the
Christian Church. He moved to Adair County [from Russell County] when he
was a small child and made his home near Sano, where he lived all his life, with
the exception of two years in Columbia living with his son, Mr. L.T. [Lennie
Travis] Wheat.
He married Miss Fannie Humphress and to this union four sons, two of whom
are surviving. They are Mr. L.T. Wheat, of Campbellsville, and Mr. W.W. Wheat of
Dayton, Ohio. After the death of his wife he married Miss Lucy Absher , of
Absher, and after her death, he married Mrs Eliza Absher, who survives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the home, conducted by
Rev. E.P. Gast, of Campbellsville, and Rev.
J.O. Wolford, of Ella. Interment was in the White cemetery, near his
home.
