It says on the envelope: Mrs. Theresa Shepherd, Tarter, Adair Co. KY.

The first page is headed: Ozark, KY. 4th month, 26th day, 23.

Dear daughter,

This leaves me well as common, hoping it finds you all well.  My bunions are giving me trouble.  They crack open, can't walk in my sock feet, wear shoes with felt insoles.  I have been working up my claim for an increase on my pension.  Have the proof all made and am expecting a Dr. to examine me at any time.  When he comes, I will be ready to visit you all. (second page written on the back of the first page).  P. 2.  Got a letter from Bonnie yesterday.  She sent George's picture.  He was a year old the 18th of this month, is walking some.  Was sorry to hear of uncle K's death.  News is scarce and you may think paper is too but it's not.  Will tell you more than I can write when I come.  My appetite good, never miss my meals.  Weigh nearly 200 lbs.  Will come to see you soon.

Your Dad.
