Brinegar Cemetery, Carter County, Kentucky

Submitted by: Kathy

Brinegar cemetery is on the side of a mountain in Carter County.
The only way to access this cemetery was to park on Interstate 64 climb the side of the hill and cross a couple of fences before we found the cemetery.
It was an experience and as far as I know there is no other way to get to the cemetery.
When you get to the top you can see the rock crusher below. There were quit a few graves in this cemetery but with no stones.

Mary Ann "Polly" (Brinegar) Baker was married to George Washington Baker.

I do not think her husband was buried there, if he was he is one of the unmarked graves.

Her brother, Gova Brinegar, is buried there also. I have a photo of his tombstone.

Mary Ann Brinegar was the sister to Solomon Brinegar. It was Solomon Brinegar's daughter, Lilly Wade that had children with Polly's husband, George Washington Baker.
