1/2 miles east of Grayson on US 60 at the summit of Star Hill, a dirt road
turns off to the right and goes up a steep hill through a new development by Addington.
Very near the first peak of the ridge, a large plateau to the right extends toward
the inner valley. There you will find three Ellenberg family graves marked with
tombstones.
The
logger of the property, Billy Stephens found them and brought them to my
attention.. He was careful to protect them.
That
same land was sold to the
family,
and now is owned by Addington for home sites. All the timber was cleared away
in 2003-2004.
A
low fence will protect them as much as remote graves can be protected.
The
road is closed now but with the development, it may be open while they are
selling lots.
A
preservation volunteer is needed for these graves.
