The Old Mobley Cemetery, Carter County

History

The Mobley Cemetery was in Carter County, next to the border with Elliott County above Bruin. It was on a hill on the side of the Little Sandy River.

The graves were relocated in March 1966 before the Grayson Dam was built. It was moved because it was on land which would either be flooded,

become government property, or the cemetery would be inaccessible after Grayson Reservoir was created.
