The Ross Chapel Cemetery Needs Your Help

For many years, maintenance of Ross Chapel Cemetery has been funded by individual donations. Over time, normal mowing and repair costs have greatly reduced the maintenance fund. It will soon be necessary to replace the mower used at the cemetery, and, as it stands, there are not now sufficient funds to do this. New burials have been made at the cemetery in recent years, and some families have contributed to the maintenance fund. Such contributions are dearly appreciated, but for the cemetery to survive, all of us who care about Ross Chapel Cemetery must lend our support.

Mr. Glenn Sparks has been maintaining the cemetery for many years. Glenn, who will soon be 77 years old, has been unable to find anyone to take over upon his retirement. Glenn has been extremely frugal in the use of the cemetery fund, and we are all indebted to him for the care and dedication which he has given to the cemetery. If, at some point, it becomes necessary to employ a commercial- rate maintenance company for the cemetery, the present fund will be depleted in a very short time.

We have all seen what happens to cemeteries which are not maintained. Weeds and brush grow over everything, fences fall down, animals gain access and markers are broken and lost. It would be a shame on us all, the descendants of those buried at Ross Chapel, to allow this precious ground to be desecrated. It is up to us to see that this lovely place is preserved for future generations.

If you feel you would like to contribute to the maintenance fund, you may send your check (in any amount, large or small) directly to Mr. Sparks, at the address below. There is an account for the fund at a local bank, details of which I can provide upon request. Your check should be made out to the "Ross Chapel Cemetery". I will provide details of fund income and disbursements to all donors and interested individuals.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all who choose to contribute to this worthy cause. Anyone who would like to assist in fund raising for the cemetery may contact me:
