                     FRANKFORT
To the city of Frankfort I pay my tribute
To the grand old capital and legislators too
And to the governor and all of you who have
Stood by our state in ways that are true
And to the library with wisdom of sages
With rows of books and page on pages
Of kings, statesmen, poets and work of art
Oh library girl if I like you could live with the ages
And to the old bridge where I stood and in memory dream
Thinking of Kenton and Boone and the beautiful scene
And what this home to the red man mean
Oh Kentucky River beautiful stream
To the old state house with relics old
And grand old paintings worth more than gold
And to the century where the honored mold
Will never be forgotten though their bodies cold
To the monuments of our soldiers and sailors
And the war poet Theodora O'hara
And Lincoln who issued the proclamation
That righted the wrongs of this great nation
And to your churches and ministers too
Who are working and striving and praying for you
To all of you who are noble and true
With deepest regret, I bid you adieu
