Mr. Arch Lewis
Mom told me that her father would take his family up to the church building every Sunday
and get it ready for Sunday services. She said many a time folks were unable to get there,
but he and his family were there. My grandfather Lewis had a stroke, which paralyzed his
right side. Even though, my mother said he still farmed and carried baskets to his neighbors
dragging his leg behind him. One day one of his neighbors stopped him along the road and
asked him why he didn’t get on some of that Government aid. My grandfather replied, “Not as
long as I’m able to work.” He lived the Christian life everyday. What a legacy he left our family!
Mom said she was with her dad when he died. She saw him lift up his paralyzed arm and say, "Glory, glory!"
”Pure religion and undefiled before God and the
father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in
their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
