My ancestor, Nancy Jane (Kinnamon) Ross reported on the 1880 census that her parents were born in North Carolina
This endenture made this 7th day of August one thousand eight hundred and twenty two between Thomas Philips of the County of Stokes and the state of North Carolina and John Kinnamon of the county and state aforesaid of the other part ???? that the said Thomas Philips for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and sixty dollars to him in hand paid by the said John Kinnamon the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged he has given granted and sold unto the said John Kinnamon his heirs or assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid on the waters of Abbots Creek. Beginning at a red oak sapling on John Kinnamon's line running east 52 chains and twenty five links to a stake on Jeremiah Fields line, thense north twenty two chains along said fields line to a stake in an old field, thense west fifty two chains twenty five links to a black oak sapling Jas Mapes Luthers line thense south to the beginning containing bt estimation one hundred and fifteen acres be the same morre or less. To have and to hold to the said John Kinnamon his heirs and assigns forever and also ...??????
