The Carter County mailing list is an electronic mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in 
Carter County, Kentucky.  To post a message to the group, you send your email to KYCARTER-L@rootsweb.com.
The message is then forwarded to all other people who are subscribed to the list. 

There are two mail list options: mail mode and digest mode. 

In the mail mode you will receive individual messages as they are submitted by the sender.

In digest mode, messages are grouped together (varying sizes) and sent as one consolidated email. 
In the digest mode, you have fewer e-mail messages with which to contend, 
but there may be a delay of a day or two in receiving the combined messages. 

Note that if you "Reply" to list service messages, your reply will be forwarded to the entire mail list group. 
To send a private response, you need to replace the mail list email ddress with the original sender's e-mail address (from the heading of their message).

To subscribe to the list, just pick which list option you want, click on it, and place just the word  "subscribe" (without quotation marks) 
in the body of the  message.  If you ever want to unsubscribe, just do the same with the word "unsubscribe".
