1783 Willian Darton map

The Full Map

This map sub-section is centered on what will one day become Carter Co., Ky.

The unidentified watercourse joining the Ohio in the center of the image (next to "Shawnoah") is the Scioto River

The watercourse just to the east of the Scioto, flowing east and then north into the Ohio from the interior
of Kentucky seems to follow the route of Tygarts Creek, although it seems odd that it would be featured here
since its limited waterflow never allowed it to become a significant transportation route.

The watercourse to the west of the Scioto, flowing north to the Ohio is Salt Lick Creek,
which joins the Ohio at current day Vanceburg, Ky. The famous Warriors Path followed this creek to the Ohio River.
