Samual Ratcliff a Justice of the Peace in and for the
County aforesaid do certify that the foregoing Declaration of James Horsley was
taken subscribed and sworn to before me on this day That I have been personally
acquainted with said James Horsley for sixteen years each past That he is a
resident of Greenup County in the State aforesaid, and is a neighbour
of mine That he is a high minded honorable man, and that I have no doubt of the
trouth of his declarations as above.

given and subscribed the forgoing certificate now is, and was at the time of
signing his name,

County aforesaid, and one of the Judges of said Court, duly commissioned and
sworn, and that as such, full faith and credit are due and ought to be given to
all his official acts, as well within courts of Justice of this county.
In Testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and
affixed the seal of the County aforesaid the 20th day of January
1843 and in the 51st year of the Commonwealth.

This is to certify that James Horsely
whose Declaration is on the forgoing page is well known to me as a man refuted
to have served in the Revolutionry War. He has ever
been esteemed by all his neighbors as a man of high integrity and honesty. A
man of the Strictest morals and Religious habits.
Elijah Horsley whos deposition is also herein filed
is also well known to me, and is as fully entitled to credit as a witness as
any man in the State of

Deposition of Elijah Horsley who is about eighty years
of age taken at the House of Samuel Ratcliff Esqr
Greenup Co. Ky on the (?) of December 1842 to be used as evidence in obtaining
a pension for James Horsley an old Revolutionary Soldier after being first Duly
sworn deposeth and sayeth.
That he was present when James Horsley enlisted near

subscribed and sworn to before me, and that I am personally & well
acquainted with the said deponent and have been for about 15 or sixteen years
