Anglin
The Herald, Grayson, Kentucky
February 7, 1902
Carter County Historical Edition
After seeing your request for county correspondents to your
paper, and as this is in my use-to-be line of business, I will
offer you a few items for publication about this enterprising little
village. The business center is made up by the C & 0, and E-K
depot with J. W. McMahon as operator and freight agent, the Anglin
post office kept by E. L. Powell, postmaster and groceryman, and
J G. Mobley dealer in general merchandise and hotel keeping. The
health of the neighborhood is generally good. We have been having
some very disagreeable weather for the past week, consisting of snow,
rain, and a very heavy sleet Henry Parsons returned from Cincinnati
a few days ago, where he -went to market eight hogsheads of fine
Burley tobacco. He reports the market in fairly good condition. R. T.
Rucker, of Fairfield, Ohio, returned home last week from this place
where he had been for some time on business.
