Fred W. Akers
Fred W. Akers, age 80, of O’Brien, Fl., formerly of Dana, Ky., husband of Willa Faye Phillips Akers, passed away Monday, May 27, 2002, at Good Samaritan Center, Dowling Park, Florida.
He was born May 26, 1922, in Dana, Ky., the son of the late Francis Marion Akers and Pearlie Rose Akers. He was a tool and dye maker, and was a minister and a member of the O’Brien Christian Fellowship.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Peggy Akers Self of Lawrenceburg, Tn.; one step-daughter, Devonia Sagraves of French Lick, In.; three step-sons, Bobby McGlone of Georgetown, Ky., Billie McGlone of Olive Hill, Ky., and Arthur McGlone of Grayson, Ky.; two brothers, Everett “Bill” Akers and Earl M. Akers, both of Bardstown, Ky.; six sisters, Retta Hall of Banner, Ky., Florida Smith of Bella Vista, Ca., Iness Stiltner of Eastern, Ky., Jean Hall of Hillsboro, Ky., Mattie “Pat” Greenwell of St. Petersburg, Fl., and Nora Burnette of Hillview, Ky., 12 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Fred W. Akers will be conducted Friday, May 31, 2002, at 10:00 a.m., at the Hall Funeral Home Chapel, Martin, Ky., with the clergyman, Dennis Kidd, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Akers Cemetery, Dana, Ky., under the professional care of the Hall Funeral Home.
Visitation is at the funeral home.
