Garnet B. Smith 1919-2004 Garnet B. Smith, age 84, of Grayson, Ky., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at her residence. She was born March 11, 1919, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Jerome and Mabel Fields Blankenship. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, Charles W. Smith Jr., in 1984; one son, Gary Smith; and one brother, Ted Blankenship. Her survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Roberta "Bobbie" and John Faris of Grayson, and Leda "Libby" Smith of Hurricane, W.Va.; one son and two daughters-in-law, Charles "Jerry" and Beverly Smith of Grayson and Patricia Smith of Louisville, Ky.; a brother, J.D. Blankenship of Grayson; a sister, Alta "Toots" Ruggles of Columbus, Ohio; seven grandchildren, June Grubb and her husband Tee, Amy O'Bryan and her husband, Chris, Kerri Martin and her husband, Dale, Wendy Harris and her husband, Scott, Matthew McDavid and his wife, Janine, Scott Smith and Todd Cauley and his wife, Geri; and 10 great-grandchildren, Will Grubb, Whitney Grubb, Lyndsey O'Bryan, Lexi Harris, Alicia Cauley, Andrew Cauley, Hunter McDavid, Isabella Harris, Olivia Martin and Lafe O'Bryan. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Malone Funeral Home in Grayson with Joed Rice, minister. Burial will be in East Carter Memory Gardens. Friends may call Saturday evening from 6 to 10 p.m. at the funeral home.
