Mrs. Minnie L. Paynter

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Lee Paynter, wife of Harvey W. Painter, of Nauvoo, were held from the Emrick Funeral Home at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon. 
The body has been removed to Olive Hill, Ky., for interment. 

Mrs. Paynter wrote her own obituary, which follows:

I, Minnie Lee Paynter (nee Bush) was born February 16, 1875, in Carter County, Ky., daughter of John and Eva (Counts) Bush, both deceased. 
Married in 1894 to F. H. Bocook, who has preceded me in death by some years. I was again married in 1912 to H. W. Paynter of Olive Hill, Ky. 

I have one child, by my first marriage, Mrs. R. F. F—man, of Sharon, Pa. She with two very dear grandchildren, Dorothy Lee and Bob, survive me. 

In 1910 I was baptized into a Baptist church in Kentucky, but can’t say I have been very active in church work 
though I have tried to live my religion instead of preaching it. I have tried to be a good wife, mother, neighbor and friend. I go not afraid. 

I leave three sisters, Mrs. J. S. Ward of Sciotoville, Mrs. George Fraley of Portsmouth, Mrs. Mike Taylor of Fullerton, 
also two half sisters, (?) Bush of Portsmouth and Irene Bush of Cincinnati. One brother, Everett M. Bush of Minford, Ohio and two half brothers, 
James Bush of West Virginia and Samuel of Piketon, Ohio. 

For the past six years I have been battling with heart disease. I have fought patiently and well but its winning. I am content. 
The past 16 years are years of happiness. I am ready to pass on. God is good so I “go not like the quarry slave, scourged to his dungeon, 
but as one who folds the drapery of his couch around him and lies down to pleasant dreams”. 

No flowers, send them to the sick, the downhearted or despondent, I don’t need them now. To my loved ones and friends, 
I have only passed before you. Au revoir. 
I am waiting, “over there.”

"Minnie was the grand daughter of Christopher S. Counts and Mary A. Bishop and the great grand daughter of Philip Counts and Julia Ann Gose. 
She is my first cousin, twice removed."
